Electron microscopic and electron radioautographic study of cells in glandular hyperplasia and cancer of the endometrium

Peculiarities of the ultrastructure and RNA synthesis in the epithelial endometrial cells of nine patients with hyperplasia and the uterine cavity cancer have been studied by the electron-radioautographic method. Quantitative differences are revealed in the ultrastructures of the cells. Amplification of the nucleoli labelling and asynchronism of the RNA synthesis in the nucleoli with glandular hyperplasia and endometrial cancer are observed.     

Tumor-associated changes in the buccal epithelium in human breast and thyroid pathology

The estimation of the malignancy-associated changes in oral mucosa of patients with benign and malignant processes in mammary and thyroid gland is carried out on the basis of textural and densitometric indices of the interphase nuclei of the epitheliocytes with the help of the methods of mathematical statistics.     

Lipids and sterols in Musca domestica L. (Diptera, Muscidae): changes after treatment with sucrose and lead

Total lipid, fatty acid and sterol composition of larvae and adults of Musca domestica was investigated before and after feeding on sucrose syrup or on the same syrup containing 1% lead nitrate. The effects of sucrose and of lead ions were found to be different. In larvae sucrose diet inhibited the fatty acid elongation and stimulated the first stages of their unsaturation. A significant increase of phytosterol concentrations was obtained. These changes increased the cell membrane permeability. The addition of lead caused a decrease of the fatty acid unsaturation, which decreased the cell membrane permeability. In adults the sucrose diet had no effect on the lipid and sterol composition, while the addition of lead decreased the cholesterol concentration. The composition of lipids and sterols also depends on the diet of larvae before pupation. The data obtained suggested that changes in lipid and sterol composition, which control the permeability of the cell membrane, might be an adaptive response of the organism to the changes of the environment.     

Synonymous codon usage pattern among the S,M, and L segments in Crimean-congo hemorrhagic fever virus

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) virus is one among the major zoonosis viral diseases that use the Hyalomma ticks as their transmission vector to cause viral infection to the human and mammalian community. The fatality of infectious is high across the world especially in Africa, Asia, Middle East, and Europe. This study regarding codon usage bias of S, M, and L segments of the CCHF virus pertaining to the host Homo sapiens, reveals in-depth information about the evolutionary characteristics of CCHFV. Relative Synonymous Codon Usage (RSCU), Effective number of codons (ENC) were calculated, to determine the codon usage pattern in each segment. Correlation analysis between Codon adaptation index (CAI), GRAVY (Hydrophobicity), AROMO (Aromaticity), and nucleotide composition revealed bias in the codon usage pattern. There was no strong codon bias found among any segments of the CCHF virus, indicating both the factors i.e., natural selection and mutational pressure shapes the codon usage bias.     

Corpus uteri cancer morbidity and a genetic-mathematical analysis of the proband's pedigrees]

Steady increase of the number of women that primary fell ill with uterus cancer has noted in Ukraine in 1980-1994. The clinic-genealogical analysis of the 262 families with uterus cancer patients of the Kiev region was made. Multifactorial type of heredity predominates. Share in general tendency to malignant tumors of the genetic component was 45.64 +/- 7.20 and of the environment factors was 54.36 +/- 7.20. Closest relatives of probands with the uterus cancer have to be subjected to systematic inspection.     

The approximate entropy of the electromyographic signals of tremor correlates with the osmotic fragility of human erythrocytes

Background  

The main problem of tremor is the damage caused to the quality of the life of patients, especially those at more advanced ages. There is not a consensus yet about the origins of this disorder, but it can be examined in the correlations between the biological signs of aging and the tremor characteristics.
