Alvarez, J. and Guerra, H. 1985. Biochemical and morphologicalchanges in protein bodies during germination of lentil seeds.—J.exp. BoL 36: 1296–1303. Protein bodies were extracted from lentil (Lens culinaris Medilk,var. castellana) seeds. Proteins from the protein bodies weredegraded during the first 7 d of germination. In some casesthis mobilization of proteins was accompanied by fusion of theprotein bodies into a large central vacuole. The loss of proteinswas paralleled by an increase in the activity of an enzyme systemthat hydrolysed casein. The different kinds of protein bodiesexhibited structural differences; some displayed uniform material,others coagulated or semi-coagulated material and the thirdkind displayed inclusions. In Argentina, 58.2% out of the 8126 Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) incident cases accumulated from 1954 to 2006 were reported in the provinces of Salta and Jujuy. The aim of this study was to develop an exploratory risk map and a potential distribution map of the vector, in order to offer recommendations for CL prevention. A total of 12 079 Phlebotominae (Diptera: Psychodidae) belonging to the species Lutzomyia neivai (Pinto), Lu. migonei (França), Lu. cortelezzii (Brèthes), Lu. shannoni (Dyar), Lu. quinquefer (Dyar) and Brumptomyia spp. (França & Parrot) were captured. Potential distribution models were created for two species, Lu. neivai (incriminated vector of Leishmania braziliensis) and Lu. migonei, associated with domestic animals in Argentina and that in turn could be involved as a link between zoonotic transmission cycles and anthropozoonotic. The Maximum Entropy Modeling System (MaxEnt) was used. The Jackknife test was performed, and the ‘rainfall of the driest month’ was the variable that best generalized the models. Accuracy was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC) and validated by the Cohen's kappa index. This approximation provides a new analytical resource of high potential for the prevention of the disease, in order to allocate resources properly and to develop the most suitable strategies for action.  相似文献

Six polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated and characterized in the threatened Mexican beaded lizard, Heloderma horridum. The number of alleles per locus ranged from three to 12, with observed heterozygosity estimates ranging from 0.00 to 0.77, and expected heterozygosity estimates ranging from 0.00 to 0.73. These microsatellites will provide a valuable tool for the investigation of the genetic variation and structure of both wild and captive H. horridum populations.  相似文献

Santolina ageratifolia Barnades ex Asso is a natural autohexaploid (2n = 6x = 54, 54 + 1B), endemic to Teruel Province, Spain and inhabits a substrate derived from sandstone, red limolite and quartzite. Three chromosome formulae are found: 30m + 12sm + 12st, present in 52% of the descendants (52 metaphase), 24m + 5m‐1sm + 18sm + 6st in 39% of the descendants (39 metaphase) and 24m + 5m‐1sm + 18sm + 6st + 1B in 9% of the descendants (9 metaphase). Chiasmata are mostly interstitial rather than terminal, giving rise to the formation of cruciform structures. The predominance of bivalent configurations in the meiosis and the exclusively bivalent formation in four individuals indicate that this species has a strong tendency towards diploidization. Secondary association of bivalents is observed in the number of 2, 4–6 chromosomes associated, the average being 4.21 ± 1.20 chromosomes. The variation in the chromosomal characteristics suggests chromosome translocation and/or inversions. This species is partially sterile, with a mean pollen fertility of 40.56% and a mean fructification of 34.24%. The frequencies of multivalents and pollen fertility have a strongly significant effect on fructification percentage. Phenotypic variation in habits is not correlated with karyotype characteristics. Specimens belonging to Tortula subulata complex ( T. inermis , T. mucronifolia and T. subulata ) were analysed using a combination of morphometric methods based on quantitative characters [principal component analysis (PCA), discriminant analysis (DA); 76 samples)] and molecular methods (ITS1 – 5.8S rRNA gene and ITS2; 47 samples) to assess patterns of morphological and molecular differentiation within this complex of taxa. The study shows that four species can be recognized: T. mucronifolia , T. subulata , T. inermis and T. subulata var. angustata with bistratose border, which is elevated to the species rank as T. schimperi nom. nov. The most valuable quantitative characters for identification of these species are the strata number of the marginal laminal cells, the ratio of middle marginal laminal cell width/middle marginal laminal cell length, basal membrane of peristome length, middle laminal cell width and papillae number on the middle laminal cells. The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) data suggest that this group of taxa is not monophyletic, T. mucronifolia being close to Protobryum bryoides (= Tortula protobryoides ). The remaining species seem to be a monophyletic group, T. schimperi being the sister group of the clade composed by T. inermis and T. subulata . Morphological data and molecular data from the chloroplast trn H- psb A region and nuclear ribosomal ITS region are used to test the hypothesis that the problematic Canary Island endemic Convolvulus floridus var. virgatus is a hybrid between the endemic species C. floridus and C. scoparius . Analysis of mean leaf length and width of 58 individuals indicates that accessions referable to C. floridus var. virgatus are intermediate between the parental taxa in leaf dimensions. Direct sequencing of the ITS region of C. scoparius and C. floridus revealed two species-specific ribotypes distinguished by 10 base differences. Examination of ITS chromatograms for putative hybrids revealed polymorphisms at those sites that are diagnostic between species in all except one putative hybrid. Morphological intermediacy and ITS additivity therefore support the hybrid status of C. floridus var. virgatus . An analysis of intraindividual ITS variation confirmed the co-occurrence of both parental ribotypes in putative hybrids and demonstrated that some hybrid individuals contained chimaeric ITS types. It is proposed that chimaeric ITS types are the result of recombination following backcrossing. Sequencing of the trn H- psb A region revealed four haplotypes. Three were, for the most part, confined to C. floridus and putative hybrids although one C. scoparius accession was also found to share this haplotype. The remaining haploype was only found in C. scoparius and putative hybrid accessions. Patterns of haplotype distribution between parental and hybrid accessions suggest multiple, bidirectional hybridization events between C. floridus and C. scoparius .
