Abstract. Nutrient conservation in vegetation affects rates of litter decomposition and soil nutrient availability. Although resorption has been traditionally considered one of the most important plant strategies to conserve nutrients in temperate forests, long leaf life‐span and low nutrient requirements have been postulated as better indicators. We aimed at identifying nutrient conservation strategies within characteristic functional groups of NW Patagonian forests on Andisols. We analysed C‐, N‐, P‐, K‐ and lignin‐concentrations in mature and senescent leaves of ten native woody species within the functional groups: broad‐leaved deciduous species, broad‐leaved evergreens and conifers. We also examined mycorrhizal associations in all species. Nutrient concentration in mature leaves and N‐ resorption were higher in broad‐leaved deciduous species than in the other two functional groups. Conifers had low mature leaf nutrient concentrations, low N‐resorption and high lignin/N ratios in senescent leaves. P‐ and K‐resorptions did not differ among functional groups. Broad‐leaved evergreens exhibited a species‐dependent response. Nitrogen in mature leaves was positively correlated with both N resorption and soil N‐fertility. Despite the high P‐retention capacity of Andisols, N appeared to be the more limiting nutrient, with most species being proficient in resorbing N but not P. The presence of endomycorrhizae in all conifers and the broad‐leaved evergreen Maytenus boaria, ectomycorrhizae in all Nothofagus species (four deciduous, one evergreen), and cluster roots in the broad‐leaved evergreen Lomatia hirsuta, would be possibly explaining why P is less limiting than N in these forests.  相似文献

Candida albicans produces germ-tubes (GT) when it is incubated in animal or human serum. This dimorphism is responsible for its invasive ability. The purpose of the present paper is (1) to evaluate the ability of rat peritoneal macrophages to inhibit GT production of ingested Candida albicans, obtained from immunized rats and then activated in vitro with Candida-induced lymphokines; (2) to determinate any possible alteration of phagocytic and candidacidal activities. The phagocytes were obtained from rats immunized with viable C. albicans. Some of them were exposed to Candida-induced lymphokines in order to activate the macrophages in vitro. The monolayers of activated, immune and normal macrophages were infected with a C. albicans suspension during 4 hr.Activated macrophages presented not only the highest phagocytic and candidacidal activities but a noticeable inhibition of GT formation and incremented candidacidal activity.  相似文献

A series of novel long-chain arylpiperazines bearing a coumarin fragment was synthesized and the compounds were evaluated for their affinity at alpha(1), D(2 )and 5-HT(2A) receptors. Most of the new compounds showed high affinity for the three types of receptors alpha(1A), D(2) and 5-HT(2A) which depends, fundamentally, on the substitution of the N(4) of the piperazine ring. From the series emerged compound 6, which had an haloperidol-like profile at D(2) and 5HT(2A) receptors (pK(i) values of 7.93 and 6.76 respectively). The higher alpha(1A) receptor affinity (pA(2)=9.07) of this compound could contribute to a more atypical antipsychotic profile than the haloperidol.  相似文献

A new approach to deliver dopamine into the central nervous system, based on the use of D-glucose as transportable agent, has been studied. Glycosyl dopamine derivatives bearing the sugar moiety linked to either the amino group or the catechol ring of dopamine through amide, ester or glycosidic bonds were synthesised as potential antiparkinsonian agents. Studies on the binding to dopamine D2 receptor, in vitro stability, and locomotive effect in mice of the synthetic glycoconjugates are reported.  相似文献

Mycorrhizal fungi that form hypogeous sporocarps are an important component of the temperate forest soil community. In many regions, such as the Nothofagus forest in the Patagonian Andes, this group of fungi has been poorly studied. Here we examined the spring and autumn community composition of "sequestrate fungi", based on sporocarp production in pure forests of Nothofagus dombeyi (evergreen) and N. pumilio (deciduous). We investigated the possible relationships between these communities and environmental factors over 2 y. The rarefaction curves and the minimal richness estimates converged at nearly the same level for each forest type, and the asymptotes suggested that the sampling effort was sufficient to capture most of the hypogeous sporocarp richness in these forest stands. In total 27 species were recovered. Basidiomycota, Ascomycota and Glomeromycota respectively accounted for nine, two and one genera. Species richness of hypogeous sporocarps varied in relation to forest type but not to season (fall and spring), whereas sporocarp biomass varied according to an interaction between season and forest type. Species richness and sporocarp biomass were positively correlated with rainfall and negatively correlated with altitude. In addition sporocarp species richness was positively related to number of trees per transect. We found that two different forest stands, each dominated by different species of Nothofagus, exhibited different hypogeous sporocarp communities.  相似文献

The mycorrhizal status of plant species in north-west Patagonia was examined. Communities representative of Patagonian steppe and marshes were compared with respect to the mycorrhizal status of their species. Most of both native and exotic plant species sampled were arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM). The percentage of species with mycorrhizal association was higher for perennial herbs and shrubs than for annual herbs. The higher ratio of mycorrhizal/nonmycorrhizal (NM) species found for dicotyledons than for monocotyledons, could reflect the presence of a considerable number of NM monocotyledons in the marsh. The mycorrhizal status of plants differed slightly between the steppe and the marsh. In the steppe, native AM species were more frequent than in the marsh. In contrast, in the marsh, the NM species were proportionally more represented than in the steppe. The Juncaceae and Cyperaceae, which include hydrohytic NM plants, accounted for many of these differences. Moreover, the dominant species in the marshes, Juncus arcticus, is a NM species. In the present study, most of species belonging to the same taxonomic family tended to have the same mycorrhizal associations, in agreement with studies on plants from other regions. Exceptions to this general behaviour were observed in the families Cyperaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Berberidaceae and Amaryllidaceae. The most represented families in which mycorrhizal behaviour differed between species of the same family were Asteraceae, Fabaceae and Poaceae. Senecio neaei (Asteraceae) and Boopis australis (Calyceraceae) showed facultative mycorrhizal behaviour.  相似文献

A trial to designde novoa dopamine (DA) receptor ligand was made, taking as the base four structural and electrostatic requirements: (1) a group simulating the interaction of the DA amino group with the TM3 aspartic acid of the receptor, (2) a group that can simulate the interaction of the DAm-hydroxyl group with the TM5 serine of the receptor, (3) a distance between these groups similar to that of the DAanti-coplanar conformer, and (4) a rigid structure keeping the distance between the groups right. After the design “on paper” of the models of four structures, quantum chemistry calculations were performed to check the properties of the molecules, and then the most encouraging ones were synthesized. None of the compounds synthesized was able to bind D1- and D2-dopamine receptor subtypes; this shows that the structural and electrostatic requirements considered in this work are insufficient. In particular, the presence of an arylethylamine moiety seems to be essential for the interaction of a ligand with the DA receptor.  相似文献

A novel population of the biotechnologically important yeast Xanthophyllomyces dendrorhous, the sexual stage of Phaffia rhodozyma, has been recently isolated for the first time in the southern Hemisphere (Patagonia, Argentina). The aim of the present work was to phenotypically and genotypically characterize two representative strains of this new population, and assess such strains as a potential biotechnological source of astaxanthin, fatty acids and extracellular enzymes. Minor variations were found in physiological tests. PCR fingerprinting studies (MSP-PCR) showed the main differences between X. dendrorhous Patagonian and Type strains. Patagonian strains accumulated a xanthophyll-like pigment, which was identified as astaxanthin. These strains showed low fatty acids content (mainly polyunsaturated fatty acids) and, of a total of six extracellular enzymes tested, only produced amylase. Genetic differences between Patagonian and collection X. dendrorhous strains could be explained by geographic isolation and habitat specificity.  相似文献

Soil microorganisms play an important role in soil quality and they interact closely with vegetation. Little is known about yeast diversity and function in forest soil ecosystems and their interactions with other biotic soil components, particularly in the mycorrhizosphere. We studied the diversity of yeasts inhabiting the bulk-soil, rhizosphere and ectomycorrhizosphere of a Nothofagus pumilio forest in Nahuel Huapi National Park (Bariloche, Argentina). Ectomycorrhizal infection was observed in all N. pumilio trees studied. A total of 126 yeast isolates were obtained, including 18 known and three possibly new species. Basidiomycetous yeasts were predominant in all soil fractions, and the most frequently isolated species was Cryptococcus podzolicus. Diversity indices and multivariate analyses were used to study and compare yeast communities in the bulk-soil, rhizosphere and ectomycorrhizosphere. Yeasts able to ferment glucose were found associated with the rhizosphere. Many of the recovered yeast species were associated with lignocelluloses compound degradation, which suggest that yeast plays an important role as a decomposer in these forest soils. Each soil fraction has a distinct yeast assemblage related to their physiologic capacities and soil nutrient availability.  相似文献
