Original chromosome determinations are presented for 20 American Lupinus taxa, including, for the first time, unifoliolate species, together with first data on meiotic behaviour and pollen fertility for some South American species. Most of the Brazilian multifoliolate L. lanatus, L. rubriflorus, L. multiflorus, L. paranensis, L. bracteolaris and L. reitzii and unifoliolate L. crotalarioides, L. guaraniticus and L. velutinus accessions analysed presented regular chromosome pairing. Meiotic indexes and estimations of pollen viability were higher than 90% for all species and accessions analysed, reflecting the generally regular meiotic behaviour of these plants. Chromosome numbers were determined for the first time for the eastern South‐American species L. guaraniticus, L. crotalarioides, L. paranensis, L. paraguariensis and L. velutinus (n = 18 or 2n = 36) and for the Andean L. ballianus, L. eanophyllus, L. huaronensis, L. semperflorens, plus another eight taxa (2n = 48) from Peru and Bolivia, and L. bandelierae (2n = 36) from Bolivia. Chromosome numbers were confirmed for L. lanatus, L. rubriflorus (2n = 36), L. bracteolaris (2n = 34) and L. microphyllus (2n = 48). In the three accessions of the North American unifoliolate species, L. cumulicola and L. villosus, a chromosome number (2n = 52) previously unknown among American taxa was found. The results of the study, plus published data, support the suggestions that south‐eastern South American species are a group cytologically differentiated from the Andean as well as from most other American ones, and that the Brazilian and the North American unifoliolate Lupinus had independent origins. © 2006 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2006, 150 , 229–240.  相似文献

Three trematodes are described from three different species of Karachi coast fishes. Complexo-bursa magna sp.n., from Lates calcarifer , is characterized by its large body size, unlotxjd rounded ovary, large operculate eggs, and numerous vitelline follicles extending from the preacetabular region to the posterior end of the body. Monorchis heterorchis sp.n., from the fish Muraenesox cinereus , is also characterized by its relatively large body, median transversely elongated testes of variable shapes, ovary consisting of four distinct follicles and relatively large operculate eggs. Waretrema piscicola Srivastava, 1937 is reported here from the Karachi coast 17 years after its last report from the Philippines, in the same host ( Scato-phaugs argus ) but from a new locality.  相似文献

With this paper we initiate a taxonomic review of the genusNapaeus from the Canary Islands, indicating the statisticalmethodology used therein. We discuss the taxonomic problem ofNapaeus (Napaeinus) nanodes (Shuttleworth, 1852), designateits lectotype and describe five new species: Napaeus (Napaeinus)doliolum Henríquez, Napaeus (Napaeinus) bechi Alonso& Ibáñez, Napaeus (Napaeus) taguluchensisHenríquez, Napaeus (Napaeus) pygmaeus Ibáñez& Alonso and Napaeus (Napaeus) tagamichensis Henríquez,the first two from Tenerife; and the other three from La Gomera.Furthermore, we discuss the general relationships of the genusand its two sub-genera, whose original diagnoses are deficient;because of this, we think that in the future a broad reviewof the subfamily Eninae will be necessary in order to clarifythe actual position of this subfamily in the Canary Islands. Until recently, Sellocharis paradoxa Taubert, the only species of this Genisteae genus, was known solely by the isotypes. Recent new collections in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, have enabled data on chromosome number and karyotype morphology to be obtained for the first time. S. paradoxa has 2 n  = 20 chromosomes, and a bimodal asymmetrical karyotype, composed of one pair of long ( c . 6.3 µm) metacentric, five pairs of shorter acrocentric, and four pairs of shorter telocentric chromosomes ranging from c . 3.7 to 2.7 µm. The chromosome number and karyotype morphology of S. paradoxa do not fit into the Genisteae pattern. Existing information is so far insufficient to answer evolutionary questions about its origin and phylogenetic relationships, but the uniqueness of this taxon, first indicated by its peculiar leaf arrangement, and now supported by its uncommon karyological constitution, strongly suggests that the suprageneric taxonomic position of S. paradoxa should be re-evaluated.  © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2007, 155 , 223–226.  相似文献

This is the first report of the genus Tergestia from Pakistan. T. karachiense sp.n. is characterized by possessing relatively long esophagus, intestinal bifurcation in front of the acetabulum, oral lobes 12 in number, scanty irregular vitellaria, testis at the posterior extremity, and* relatively small eggs.  相似文献

A multidisciplinary investigation of the eight annual taxa of Bromus sect. Genea throughout their total ranges has brought a fresh insight into their evolutionary pathways. These species, mainly in southwest Asia and the Mediterranean, are still actively in the process of speciation and their study illuminates evolutionary processes in annual grasses as a whole. Following a discussion of Genea features, a list of ancestral and derived characters in the group is presented. The recent emergence of a multiplicity of niches is probably the reason for the rapid emergence of many new kinds of plants in sect. Genea.  相似文献

It has been recently shown that depolymerization of microtubules induces the elongation of focal contacts at the leading edge. On the other hand, cell shape and pseudopodial activity were found to depend on the microtubule-based motor kinesin. In this paper, we examine whether kinesin is involved in controlling the dynamics of adhesive structures at the cell surface. Microinjection of an antiblocking kinesin activityin vitrocauses focal contact elongation similar to the effect of microtubule-depolymerizing drugs. Thus, the role of microtubules in cell adhesion lies in the supporting kinesin-based transport to the adhesion sites.  相似文献

Rhabdochona (Rhabdochona) parastromatei sp.n. is characterized by its relatively large body size, 16 teeth in pros tome, right spicule 0.48-0.50 mm and left 0.10-0.12 mm in length, 9–10 pairs of caudal papillae, a single adanal papilla, eggs in female 0.029-0.044 by 0.018-0.025 mm in size, and by having a marine fish host.  相似文献
