Saccharose, forming sufficiently stable complexes with copper(II) ions in alkaline solutions, was found to be a suitable ligand for copper(II) chelating in alkaline (pH>12) electroless copper deposition solutions. Reduction of copper(II)-saccharose complexes by hydrated formaldehyde was investigated and the copper deposits formed were characterized. The thickness of the compact copper coatings obtained under optimal operating conditions in 1h reaches ca. 2 microm at ambient temperature. The plating solutions were stable and no signs of Cu(II) reduction in the bulk solution were observed. Results were compared with those systems operating with other copper(II) ligands.  相似文献

The formation of four Cu(II)-xylitol complexes was observed in aqueous alkaline solutions (11.0< or =pH< or =14.0, I=1.0, 20 degrees C) by means of direct current polarography and VIS spectrophotometry. Mononuclear hydroxy complexes, CuXyl(OH)- (log beta=17.7 +/- 0.5), CuXyl(OH)2(2-) (log beta=20.2 +/- 0.3) and CuXyl2(OH)2(4-) (log beta=22.4 +/- 0.3), are formed at high ligand-to-metal ratios (L:M> or =10), whereas dinuclear complex Cu2Xyl (log beta=29.2 +/- 0.3) is the predominant species at low ligand-to-metal ratio (L:M=0.5). Diffusion coefficients and molar absorptivities of the complex species were determined. pH variable 13C NMR suggested that pKa values of xylitol are rather similar and equal to 13.8 +/- 0.2, 13.9 +/- 0.1 and 13.9 +/- 0.2 for OH-groups adjacent to (C-1,C-5), (C-3) and (C-2,C-4) carbon atoms, respectively.  相似文献

Despite the fact that multidrug-resistant Klebsiella sp. strains emerge rapidly (Xu J, et al., Adv. Mater. Res. 268-270:1954-1956, 2011) and bacteriophages have been reported to be useful in controlling these bacteria (Kumari S, Harjai K, Chhibber S, J. Med. Microbiol. 60:205-210, 2011), the complete genome sequences of only five Klebsiella phages (four siphoviruses and one myovirus) can be found in databases. In this paper, we report on the complete genome sequence of Klebsiella sp.-infecting bacteriophage vB_KleM_RaK2. With a genome size of 345,809 bp, this is the second largest myovirus and the largest Klebsiella phage sequenced to date. This phage differs substantially from other myoviruses since 411 out of 534 vB_KleM_RaK2 open reading frames have no known functions and lack any reliable database matches. Comparative analysis of the genome sequence of vB_KleM_RaK2 suggests that this phage forms a distinct phylogenetic branch within the family Myoviridae of tailed bacteriophages.  相似文献

Variable pH 13C NMR and 1H NMR spectroscopic studies of the β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) in alkaline aqueous solutions revealed that β-CD does not deprotonate at pH < 12.0. Further increase in solution pH results in the deprotonation of OH-groups adjacent to C-2 and C-3 carbon atoms of β-CD glucopyranose units, whereas the deprotonation of OH-groups adjacent to C-6 carbon atoms is expressed less markedly. The pKa values for β-CD OH-groups adjacent to C-2 and C-3 carbon atoms are rather close, pKa1,2 being 13.5 ± 0.2 (22.5 °C).  相似文献

Reduction of Cd(II) on a dropping mercury electrode was used to study interaction of β-cyclodextrin with Cd(II) ions. It was found that Cd(II) forms Cdβ-CD(OH)22− hydroxy-complex with the anion of β-cyclodextrin in alkaline solutions (pH>11), the logarithm of stability constant being 10.4±0.1 (20 °C; I=1.0). The calculated value of the diffusion coefficient equal to 1.0×10−6 cm2/s shows a large size Cd(II) complex species formation in alkaline solutions containing β-CD.  相似文献

A synthesis of a series of enantiomerically pure polycyclic structures derived from (+)-(1S,5S)-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-2,6-dione was accomplished. Molecules containing single or two similar or different chromophores were obtained. Chiroptical properties of the synthesized chiral structures 2-5, and 7 having carbonyl, 1,2-methylenedioxybenzene, and indole chromophores were studied. The sign of the cotton effect was related to sector rules and the orientation of the planes containing chromophores in dichromophoric molecules possessing 1,2-methylenedioxybenzene and carbonyl or indole chromophores. Interaction of the chromophores in dichromophoric molecules was examined by CD spectroscopy; however, no direct evidence was obtained.  相似文献

Semiconductor quantum dots show promise as alternatives to organic dyes for biological labelling because of their bright and stable photoluminescence. The typical quantum dots is CdSe because colloidal synthesis for nanocrystals of this semiconductor is well established. CdSe is usually passivated with zinc sulfide. While the cytotoxicity of bulk CdSe is well documented, questions about (CdSe)ZnS potential toxicity and behaviour in vivo remain unanswered. The distribution and stability of (CdSe)ZnS quantum dots in Wistar line rats' digestive tract were investigated. Hydrophobic quantum dots were mixed with fat or sonificated in water and administered orally. The distribution and stability of quantum dots moving through the digestive system of rats was followed by fluorescence spectroscopy. In both ways prepared quantum dots were degraded in the digestive tract of animals. Quantum dots mixed with fat were more stable and degraded more slowly than quantum dots sonificated in water. The data obtained suggest possible toxicity of (CdSe)ZnS quantum dots due to the liberation of Cd(2+).  相似文献

At 346 kbp in size, the genome of a jumbo bacteriophage vB_KleM-RaK2 (RaK2) is the largest Klebsiella infecting myovirus genome sequenced to date. In total, 272 out of 534 RaK2 ORFs lack detectable database homologues. Based on the similarity to biologically defined proteins and/or MS/MS analysis, 117 of RaK2 ORFs were given a functional annotation, including 28 RaK2 ORFs coding for structural proteins that have no reliable homologues to annotated structural proteins in other organisms. The electron micrographs revealed elaborate spike-like structures on the tail fibers of Rak2, suggesting that this phage is an atypical myovirus. While head and tail proteins of RaK2 are mostly myoviridae-related, the bioinformatics analysis indicate that tail fibers/spikes of this phage are formed from podovirus-like peptides predominantly. Overall, these results provide evidence that bacteriophage RaK2 differs profoundly from previously studied viruses of the Myoviridae family.  相似文献

This is the first report on a complete genome sequence and biological characterization of the phage that infects Arthrobacter. A novel virus vB_ArS-ArV2 (ArV2) was isolated from soil using Arthrobacter sp. 68b strain for phage propagation. Based on transmission electron microscopy, ArV2 belongs to the family Siphoviridae and has an isometric head (∼63 nm in diameter) with a non-contractile flexible tail (∼194×10 nm) and six short tail fibers. ArV2 possesses a linear, double-stranded DNA genome (37,372 bp) with a G+C content of 62.73%. The genome contains 68 ORFs yet encodes no tRNA genes. A total of 28 ArV2 ORFs have no known functions and lack any reliable database matches. Proteomic analysis led to the experimental identification of 14 virion proteins, including 9 that were predicted by bioinformatics approaches. Comparative phylogenetic analysis, based on the amino acid sequence alignment of conserved proteins, set ArV2 apart from other siphoviruses. The data presented here will help to advance our understanding of Arthrobacter phage population and will extend our knowledge about the interaction between this particular host and its phages.  相似文献

In 2006, the Indonesian government decided to withhold avian flu samples from the World Health Organization. They argued that even though Indonesian samples were crucial to the development of vaccines, the results of vaccine research would be unaffordable for its citizens. Commentaries on the case varied from alleging blackmail to welcoming this strong stance against alleged exploitation. What is clear is that the concern expressed is related to benefit sharing. Benefit sharing requires resource users to return benefits to resource providers in order to achieve justice. One benefit sharing tool within health research is the duty to provide a health care intervention which has been proven to be beneficial (or alternative benefits) to research participants after a study has been concluded. This duty is generally known as a post-study obligation. It was enshrined in the Declaration of Helsinki in 2000 and re-emphasized in 2008. Yet, there are few, if any, examples of good practice. In this article, we analyse the obstacles to giving more bite to benefit sharing provisions in health research through ethical review. We conclude that the provision of post-study access to healthcare interventions is not a promising mechanism when monitored through research ethics committees. Alternative benefit provision is preferable if one focuses on achieving compliance. However, even the latter faces challenges, which we address in specific recommendations.  相似文献
