Data for the flavonoids of 19 species in 10 sections of Ludwigia are presented. Eight flavonoids, comprising four glycoflavones, of which vitexin and isovitexin are reported for the first time in Ludwigia, and four flavonol glycosides, based on quercetin, are present in these species. Each section treated here has either glycoflavones or flavonols; presence of only onte class is considered to be advanced in the genus as a whole, compared with the presence of both glycoflavones and flavonols in the more generalized sects Myrtocarpus Cinerascentes, and Pterocaulon, which were examined earlier. Only glycoflavones are present in sects Macrocarpon (four species), Seminuda (five species), the ditypic African sect. Africana, the monotypic African sects Brenania, Cryptosperma, and Prieurea, the monotypic east Asian sect. Nipponia, and the monotypic pantropical section Fissendocarpa. Only flavonols are present in the monotypic Old Wodd section Caryophylloidea and sect. Oligospermum, which comprises nine species widespread in the OId and New Worlds. 相似文献

The CSF and sera of 7 patients with Parkinson's disease were investigated immunocytochemically, in order to see if antibodies were present which recognized DA-ergic cell bodies in glutaraldehyde fixed rat brain. In 2 patients a marked labeling of DA-ergic neurons in the substantia nigra was observed, identified by anti-DA antiserum and by 6-OHDA induced degeneration, but also other neurons in the ventral mesencephalon were recognized. The other patients were weakly positive or negative. Sera gave unspecific labelling of all neurons. In one patient the sub-classes of IgG were investigated and found to be of IgG3 (labeling nerve terminals) and of IgG1–2, low affinity type (recognizing perikarya). The epitopes recognized have not been identified, but are unlikely to be DA-like, since blocking experiments and ELISA-tests gave negative results. ABSTRACT Exoantigens of Trypanosoma cruzi were produced in experimentally infected BALB/c mice. The exoantigens were detected by the counterimmunoelectrophoresis method (CIE), with antisera raised in rabbits by immunization with total homogenates of culture forms of ***T. cruzi in plasma from ***field animals obtained by centrifugation and filtration. Control experiments indicated that exoantigens are not somatic components of T. cruzi leaked during the preparative procedure. Exoantigens were detected in male and female mice, 11-90 days old, between 6 and 60 days of infection, and in all mice with patent parasitemia. After 13 days of infection, mice developed antibodies to exoantigens; by CIE up to three populations of antibodies were revealed in different groups of animals. In mice between 13 and 60 days of infection, the coexistence of exoantigens and homologous antibodies was also observed. The exoantigens are not strain specific since a cross reactivity between antigens from three strains of T. cruzi (Tulahuén, Higueras, and Alejandro) was seen. Finally, the presence of antibodies to exoantigens in humans with chronic Chagas’ disease was demonstrated. 相似文献

The diel mixing patterns of two small floodplain lakes, Lago Jacaretinga in the Amazon drainage, and Lago Cristalino in the Rio Negro system, were investigated during both the high-water and low-water states of the Amazon River hydrograph. Measurements included temperature, oxygen, ammonia, phosphate, and chlorophyll. In both lakes thermal stratification developed during the day and was eroded at night. During the low-water period when the lakes were shallow, nocturnal circulation extended to the lake bottom, whereas when the lakes were deeper (greater than about 5 m), circulation did not reach the bottom and an anoxic hypolimnion developed. During the low-water period, percent of oxygen concentrations were relatively high but always less than saturation. Low oxygen concentrations were observed during the high-water period. At all times nocturnal mixing supplied a significant amount of oxygen to the lake ecosystems. Nighttime upward mixing of recycled nitrogen and phosphorus also appeared to be important nutrient sources for algal productivity. 相似文献

Chromosomal polymorphism regarding number of NOR sites in the cyprinid fish Chondrostoma lusitanicum was examined using C-banding, silver-staining (Ag), and fluorescent staining with chromomycin A3 (CMA3). The analysis of heterochromatic regions allowed a more precise identification of the centromeric regions and the proposal of a revised haploid chromosome formula (7M: 15S: 3A). We describe variability in the number of NOR regions per genome, number of active NOR sites per cell, and relative size of individual NORs. Individuals expressed two or four NOR-bearing chromosomes. Polymorphism was detected in all the populations studied and sex-related differences were not found. The observed chromosomal NOR phenotypes suggest the occurrence of structural rearrangements during the evolutionary process of this diploid leuciscine cyprinid. 相似文献

Summary The application of an antibody against tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF) to thin sections of plastic-embedded mouse tissue has identified sites of TNF activity in normal and endotoxin-treated C3N/HeN mice. Prior to endotoxin treatment, TNF was observed in the secretory granules of the antibacterial Paneth cell and one type of crypt endocrine cell. Four hours after endotoxin treatment, these two types of intestinal cell were found to have degranulated. In addition, endotoxin treatment resulted in the appearance of TNF in the secretory granules of all eosinophils, neutrophils and monocytes in the bone marrow, spleen, lung and the proximal intestine. TNF was also observed in the internal elastic lamina (IEL) of arterioles. These results suggest that the process of TNF induction specifically targets the immune system and the vasculature. An invasive stimulus, such as circulating endotoxin, can provoke the immune cells to be armed with TNF. That same stimulus may cause arteriole smooth muscle cells to secrete TNF. TNF secretion in the presence of arteriole smooth muscle cells may play a role in the adjustment of arteriole tone. In the venules, TNF may be responsible for platelet and neutrophil accumulation which leads to embolism formation. 相似文献

Abstract: Bradykinin receptors have been subdivided into at least two major pharmacological subtypes, B1 and B2 . The cDNAs encoding functional B2 receptors have recently been cloned, but no molecular information exists at present on the B1 receptor. In this article, we describe experiments examining the possible relationship between the mRNAs encoding the B1 and B2 types of receptor. We showed previously that the Human fibroblast cell line W138 expresses both B1 and B2 receptors. In this report, we describe oocyte expression experiments showing that the B1 receptor in W138 human fibroblast cells is encoded by a distinct mRNA ∼2 kb shorter than that encoding the B2 receptor. We have used an antisense approach in conjunction with the oocyte expression system to demonstrate that the two messages differ in sequence at several locations throughout the length of the B2 sequence. Taken together with the mixed pharmacology exhibited in some expression systems by the cloned mouse receptor, the data indicate that B1 -type pharmacology may arise from two independent molecular mechanisms. 相似文献

Summary Sexuals ofFormica lugubris fly to mating places, where females attract males by using a sex pheromone. Females collected on the nest surface before departing on a mating flight are much less attractive than those collected on the mating place after the mating flight, suggesting that the mating flight triggers the release of the sex pheromone. Olfactory cues are essential for males to locate females while they patrol. Males probably use visual cues to locate females once they have alighted nearby them. Males are also attracted by aggregations of other males on the ground, probably because one or several females are likely to be close to male aggregations. 相似文献
