Nineteen linkage groups containing a total of 52 markers have been identified in the sheep genome after typing large paternal half-sib families. The linkage groups range in size from 2 markers showing no recombination to a group containing 6 markers covering approximately 30 cM of the sheep genome. Thirteen of the groups have been assigned to a sheep chromosome. Three groups contain markers from bovine syntenic groups U2, U7 and U29, and one other group contains a marker that has been mapped only in humans. The remaining three groups are unassigned. This information will provide a useful foundation for a genetic linkage map of sheep.  相似文献

Ecosystem biomass, soil conditions and the diversity of different taxa are often interrelated. These relationships could originate from biogeographic affinity (varying species pools) or from direct ecological effects within local communities. Disentangling regional and local causes is challenging as the former might mask the latter in natural ecosystems with varying habitat conditions. However, when the species pool contribution is considered in statistics, local ecological effects might be detected. In this study we disentangle the indirect effects of the species pool and direct ecological effects on the complex relationships among wood volume, soil conditions and diversities of different plant and fungal groups in 100 old‐growth forest sites (10 × 10 m) at the border of boreal and nemoral zones in northern Europe. We recorded all species for different vegetation groups: woody and herbaceous vascular plants, terricolous and epiphytic bryophytes and lichens. Fungal communities were detected by DNA‐based analyses from soil samples. Above‐ground wood volume was used as a proxy of biomass. We measured soil pH and nutrient content and obtained modelled climate parameters for each site. Species pool effect was considered by dividing sites into boreal and nemoral groups based on community composition. In order to disentangle direct and indirect effects, we applied variation partitioning, and raw and partial correlations. We found many significant positive relationships among studied variables. Many of these relationships were associated to boreal and nemoral species pools, thus indicating that biogeographic affinity of interacting plants and fungi largely defines forest diversity and functioning. At the same time, several relationships were significant also after considering biogeography: woody plant and ectomycorrhizal fungi diversities with wood volume, many plant and fungal groups with each other, or with soil conditions. These direct ecological interactions could be considered in forestry practices to achieve both economic gain and maintenance of biodiversity.  相似文献

Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) regulates the secretion of GnRH into the hypothalamic hypophysial portal system and sensitizes the pituitary for release of hormones that trigger ovulation. Because reproductive behavior is synchronized with GnRH release, the present study was undertaken to determine whether PACAP in the ventromedial nucleus (VMN) plays a role in receptivity. To this end, we used rat and mouse reproductive behavioral models to determine the biological relationship between PACAP and steroid receptor function in females. We provide evidence for the requirement of PACAP in the VMN for progesterone (P)-dependent sexual behavior in estrogen (E)-primed females. We clarify the biological and molecular mechanisms of PACAP activity by showing 1) that inhibition of endogenous PACAP suppresses P receptor (PR)-dependent sexual behavior facilitated by the steroid P or D1-like agonist SKF38393 and 2) that PR, steroid receptor coactivators-1 and -2, and new protein synthesis are essential for ligand independent PACAP-facilitated behavior. These findings are consistent with convergence of PACAP-mediated cellular signals on PR for genomic activation and subsequent behavioral changes. Further, we show that steroids regulate both endogenous PACAP mRNA in the VMN and immunoreactive PACAP in the medial basal hypothalamus and cerebral spinal fluid for ligand-dependent, steroid receptor-dependent receptivity. The present findings delineate a novel, steroid-dependent mechanism within the female hypothalamus by which the neuropeptide PACAP acts as a feed-forward, paracrine, and/or autocrine factor for synchronization of behavior coordinate with hypothalamic control of ovulation.  相似文献

The neural response to a stimulus is influenced by endogenous factors such as expectation and attention. Current research suggests that expectation and attention exert their effects in opposite directions, where expectation decreases neural activity in sensory areas, while attention increases it. However, expectation and attention are usually studied either in isolation or confounded with each other. A recent study suggests that expectation and attention may act jointly on sensory processing, by increasing the neural response to expected events when they are attended, but decreasing it when they are unattended. Here we test this hypothesis in an auditory temporal cueing paradigm using magnetoencephalography in humans. In our study participants attended to, or away from, tones that could arrive at expected or unexpected moments. We found a decrease in auditory beta band synchrony to expected (versus unexpected) tones if they were unattended, but no difference if they were attended. Modulations in beta power were already evident prior to the expected onset times of the tones. These findings suggest that expectation and attention jointly modulate sensory processing.  相似文献

Stalling of replication forks at lesions is a serious threat to genomic integrity and cell viability. Cells have developed a variety of pathways that allow continuation of synthesis, including translesion synthesis, postreplication repair and homologous recombination. We have devised a sensitive genetic system for detection of sister chromatid interactions in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. A 266bp sequence duplication in the KanMX4 module was generated and reversions were scored via G418 resistant colonies. Both 4-NQO induced and spontaneous reversions are strictly dependent on RAD52. Damage-induced reversions are also largely dependent on RAD51. Thus, most damage-induced events require a strand invasion step. Induced reversions were not affected in rev3 mutants and partially reduced in rad30 mutants indicating an involvement of Pol η. In cells lacking Mph1, a member of the FANCM family of DNA helicases, that has been implicated in a pathway for fork reactivation involving homologous recombination, damage-induced events are significantly reduced. Together with the spontaneous mutator phenotype of mph1 mutants this data strongly suggest that Mph1 has an additional function in recombination besides its previously described ability to disrupt D-loops. We propose that Mph1 promotes D-loop formation.  相似文献

RIG-I样受体(RIG-I like receptors,RLR)是一类新发现的模式识别受体,能够识别细胞质中的病毒RNA,通过RLR级联信号诱导干扰素和促炎症细胞因子的产生,对抗病毒天然免疫的建立起着非常重要的作用.RLR信号通路既受宿主的严格调控,也能够作为病毒逃避宿主干扰素反应的靶点.本文重点讨论了RLR及其在RNA病毒识别和抗病毒天然免疫中的作用.  相似文献
