The paper analyzes humus profiles of mountain-chestnut soils of a complex catena situated within the Khemchik dry-steppe area of the Central Tuva Depression. The study has shown that humus profile characteristics are determined by both slope aspects and position in the catena. Humus profiles imprint all environmental changes of soil formation and functioning even if these changes are not expressed in soil morphology. The materials obtained during the study may serve as basis for long-term monitoring of slope soil behavior and for revealing local soil variability in changing environment.  相似文献

Frequency and patterns of activity of 106 neurons in the lateral preoptic area of unanesthetized cats were studied under conditions of indolent head fixation. It was shown that this structure contains two somnogenic neuronal populations with different functions. Neurons increasing their discharge frequency during transition from active to quiet wakefulness and subsequent sleep development to the point of phasic stage of paradoxical sleep development are considered as elements of an anti-waking system, which is involved in the mechanisms of sleep onset and deepening by means of inactivation of the arousal system. Neurons displaying the highest firing rates during light slow-wave sleep and synchronization of discharges with sleep spindles are considered as elements of a slow-wave sleep network.  相似文献

The nucleus pontis oralis contains several populations of neurons showing distinct sleep-waking discharge patterns. PS-on, PS-off cells, and neurons that discharged in association with phasic movements during paradoxical sleep and/or waking, were found. The findings suggest that different populations of the nucleus pontis oralis neurons take a distinct part in paradoxical sleep control.  相似文献

Influence of electrical stimulation of the medial preoptic area of cats on characteristics of paradoxical sleep and activity of medial preoptic neurons were studied in the course of sleep-waking cycle. Low-frequency stimulation of this structure in the state of slow-wave sleep evoked short-latency electrocortical desynchronization and induced transition to paradoxical sleep or paradocical sleep-like state. The same stimulation during the whole period of paradoxical sleep results in a reduction of its duration, practically complete disappearance of tonic stage, and increase in the density of rapid eye movements in phasic stage. The vast majority of meurons in the medial preoptic area decreased their firing rates during quiet waking and slow-wave sleep and dramatically increased their activity during paradoxical sleep. More than 50% of such neurons displayed activation 20-70 s prior to the appearance of electrocorticographic correlates of paradoxical sleep. Some neurons were selectively active during paradoxical sleep. Approximately 50% of cells increased their firing rates a few seconds prior to and/or during series of rapid eye movements. The results suggest that the medial preoptic area contains the units of the executive system (network) of paradoxical sleep and are involved in the mechanisms of neocortical desynchronization.  相似文献

Chlorin e(6) and its derivatives are promising sensitizers for photodynamic therapy (PDT). In order to compare the photodynamic effects of 8 novel derivatives of chlorin e(6) and to explore some mechanisms of their effects at the cellular level, we studied PDT-induced changes in bioelectric activity of crayfish mechanoreceptor neuron that was used as a sensitive experimental model. Neurons were insensitive to red laser irradiation (632.8 nm; 0.3 W/cm(2)) or to photosensitizers alone, but changed firing rate and died under the photodynamic effect of nanomolar concentrations of sensitizers. The dynamics of neuron responses depended on photosensitizer type and concentration. The dependence of neuron lifetime on photosensitizer concentration allowed comparing efficiencies of different photosensitizers. Radachlorin was the most potent photosensitizer comparable with mTHPC. High photodynamic efficiency of some chlorin e(6) derivatives was related to weak dependence of neuron lifetime on sensitizer concentration, indicating to the initiation of 2-3 secondary processes such as free radical membrane damage by one absorbed photon. Photodynamic efficiency of sensitizers depended on amphiphilicity influencing their intracellular localization.  相似文献

Alterations in the concentrations of cell cytosol carbohydrates of polyextremophilic yeasts Yarrowia lipolytica under stresses of diverse nature were observed. Under pH stress, mannitol was the main storage carbohydrate (up to 89% of the total cytosol carbohydrates), while arabitol, glucose, and inositol were present in insignificant amounts (3 to 6%). Experiments with inhibition of de novo mannitol synthesis by bis(p-nitrophenyl) disulfide revealed that the cytoprotective effect of mannitol was most noticeable in the cells grown under acidic conditions (pH 4.0), while the role of catalase and superoxide dismutase, the enzymes of the first line of antioxidant protection, increased under alkaline conditions (pH 9.0). The constitutively high mannitol content in Y. lipolytica cells was hypothesized to be a part of the core mechanism of stress resistance in this yeast species.  相似文献

The object of this work was to study the effect of a short incubation in 0.01 M tris buffer, pH 7.0, with a different NaCl content (0-10%) on the viability, optic density and permeability of intact and heated at 52 degrees C Escherichia coli B/r cells. In contrast to the intact cells, the viability of the heated cells depended on osmotic pressure in the medium into which they were transferred after heating. The survival rate was highest when the cells were transferred into an isotonic buffer. In the case of hypotonic and hypertonic media, the survival rate of the cells decreased owing to the death of cells which were responsible for the formation of small colonies under the isotonic conditions. This was accompanied with a more intensive drop in the optic density of bacterial suspensions while their permeability increased (when the cells were transferred into the hypotonic conditions). The role of membranes in the processes of bacterial heat inactivation is discussed on the basis of the results obtained.  相似文献

The influence of media with different osmotic pressure (NaCl water solutions) on survival and permeability of Escherichia coli B/r and Escherichia coli Bs-1 cells heated up to 50, 52 and 60 degrees C was investigated. Hypotonic media increased, while hypertonic media, within a certain range of sodium chloride concentrations, decreased the damaging action of heating independently of the temperature. The effectiveness of thermoprotection was seen to increase, and the range of osmolyte concentrations, at which the highest effect of protection takes place, to move markedly towards higher concentrations of NaCl with increase in heating temperature. A certain relationship is suggested between the observed phenomenon and the osmotic homeostasis system of microorganisms under condition of thermogenic and tonic stress.  相似文献

The incontact action of penicillin and ethidium bromide on dividing bacterial culture Escherichia coli through ampoule glass or by means of antennae was studied. The photodynamic effect of the exogenous riboflavin on the mechanoreceptor neuron and satellite glial cells was studied in the isolated stretch receptor of the river crayfish. It was shown that the photodynamic action of exogenous riboflavin produced lesion of the cytoplasmic membrane and irreversible cessation of the neuron impulse activity, disturbance of integrity of the plasma membrane of glial cells, and development of necrotic processes in them. It also induces apoptosis of the glial cells. A disturbance of bioenergetic processes in the neuron and development of apoptosis in the glial cells was observed with a 4-h delay after the photoinduced cessation of the neuron impulsation. Riboflavin is known to be a photosensitizer of the first kind, which generates superoxide-anion during illumination. Its photodynamic effect on the neuron was essentially lower than the photodynamic effect of the earlier studied photosensitizers of the second kind—porphyrines, chlorines, and phthalocyanines.
