Summary Consecutive sections of certain neurons in the central ganglia of the pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis appear to be immunoreactive to anti-dopamine and anti-serotonin. The Cerebral Giant Neurons stain in addition with antivasotocin. The present report is focused on the study of participation of exogenous DNA in the process of postirradiation reparation of meristematic cells ofVicia faba primary roots. It is aimed at comparison of the positive reparative effect of isologous DNA with postirradiation action of heterologous DNA in its native, thermally denatured and DNAase-degraded forms, or DNA degraded by ultrasound, and with the effect of other biologically important macromolecules (RNA, histone, heparin, and dextran sulphate). For this purpose, the roots ofVicia faba irradiated by 150 r exposure were cultivated in solutions containing the above substances for an appropriate time interval. In squash slides both mitotic activity of the investigated cell population and frequency of postmetaphase chromosomal aberrations induced by radiation were evaluated. It was shown that a stimulation of cell division and reparation of chromosome damages were supported exclusively by isologous DNA. On the contrary, exogenously applied heterologous DNA increased postirradiation frequency of aberrations; maintenance of native structure of applied DNA was an essential condition for the above effect. Beginning with the second inductive cycle the rate of nucleic acid (NA) synthesis in cotyledons and apical buds ofChenopodium rubrum is higher at the end of the dark period or 4h following transfer of the plants to light in induced plants than in non-induced ones. This is due to an increase in all NA fractions. The greatest difference between NA synthesis in induced and non-induced plants was observed at the end of the second (or sometimes third) inductivecycle. In the subsequent cycles the difference decreased or disappeared eventually. During photoperiodic induction NA synthesis shows a diurnal rhythm with a peak at the end of the dark and at the beginning of the light period. Rhythmicity of NA synthesis is endogenous. The period length of the endogenous oscillation is about 18 h. Interruption of the dark period by light causea amplitude of the first oscillation to be reduced and delays the appearance of the second peak. NA synthesis did not show rhythmicity in plants grown in continuous light. The significance of the observed phenomena for photoperiodic induction is being discussed. 相似文献

1. Acetylcarnitine added in catalytic amounts to kidney mitochondria produces an active oxidation of endogenous fatty acids. 2. In conditions of mitochondrial ;aging', under which acetate is not oxidized, acetylcarnitine also promotes the oxidation of this exogenous substrate. 3. Dinitrophenol completely abolishes the action of acetylcarnitine. 4. Carnitine is ineffective both in the oxidation of endogenous fatty acids and of exogenous acetate. 5. The action of acetylcarnitine is shared, though to a smaller extent, by pyruvate. 6. We cloned a new polyketide gene cluster, aur2, in Streptomyces aureofaciens CCM3239. Sequence analysis of the 9531-bp DNA fragment revealed 10 open reading frames, majority of which showed high similarity to the previously characterized type II polyketide synthase (PKS) genes. An unusual feature of the aur2 cluster is a disconnected organization of minimal PKS genes; ACP is located apart from the genes for ketosynthases KSalpha and KSbeta. The aur2 gene cluster was disrupted in S. aureofaciens CCM3239 by a homologous recombination, replacing the four genes (aur2A, E, F, G) including ketosynthase KSalpha, with antibiotic resistance marker gene. The disruption did not affect growth and differentiation, and disrupted strain produced spores with wild-type grey-pink pigmentation. The biochromatographic analysis of the culture extracts from S. aureofaciens wild type and aur2-disrupted strains did not reveal any difference in the pattern of antibacterial compounds. 相似文献
