Résumé Les hypophyses de 22 Pigeons des deux sexes sacrifiés soit pendant la couvaison, soit pendant la période de soins aux jeunes, ou lactation, ont été comparées à celles de 43 Pigeons des deux sexes, adultes non lactants ou prépubères, normaux ou soumis à divers traitements (lumière permanente, métopirone, thyroxine). Elles ont toutes été examinées en microscopie optique et 13 d'entre elles ont été en outre étudiées au microscope électronique.Sur la base de leurs affinités tinctoriales et de leurs caractères histochimiques, 6 types cellulaires ont pu être identifiés (Tableau 2). Seuls trois d'entre eux, tous localisés dans le lobe céphalique de l'adénohypophyse, sont intensément modifiés pendant la couvaison et la lactation. D'une part, la cellule eta, érythrosinophile, et la cellule kappa, cyanophile mais PAS négative, sont fortement stimulées. D'autre part, la cellule delta, cyanophile et PAS positive, est déprimée.Les caractères ultrastructuraux de ces six types cellulaires sont décrits et plus particulièrement ceux des cellules sollicitées pendant la couvaison et la lactation.La confrontation de l'évolution respective de ces trois types cellulaires avec celle de la paroi du jabot montre que la cellule eta érythrosinophile élabore la prolactine. La signification fonctionnelle de la cellule kappa demeure hypothétique: elle élaborerait l'hormone mélanophorotrope, MSH. La valeur thyréotrope des cellules delta est démontrée par les modifications déclenchées à leur niveau par des injections de thyroxine; ces modifications sont identiques à celles observées pendant la lactation.
Summary The pituitaries of 22 pigeons of both sexes fixed either during incubation or lactation (care for the young) were compared with those of 43 adult pigeons that were either adult but non-lactating, or prepuberal; these were either normal or variously treated (permanent illumination, administration of metopirone or thyroxin). All were studied with the light microscope and 13 among them were also examined with the electron microscope. On the basis of their staining properties and histochemical characteristics, six cellular types were identified. Only three among these, all located in the cephalic lobe of the adenohypophysis are intensively modified during incubation and lactation On the one hand, the eosinophilic eta cell and the cyanophilic but PAS-negative kappa cell are strongly stimulated. On the other hand, the cyanophilic and PAS-positive delta cell is depressed. The ultrastructural characteristics of these six cell types are described, in particular of those involved in incubation and lactation. Comparison of the development of these three cell types and of the crop shows that the eta cell furnishes prolactine. The functional significance of the kappa cell remains hypothetical; it may produce the melanophorotropic hormone (MSH). The thyrotropic nature of the delta cell is demonstrated by its modification in response to thyroxin administration; these changes are identical with those observed during lactation.

Androgen receptors have been found in duck preen glands by using dextran-coated charcoal adsorption. They bound DHT with high affinity (KD = 0.2 nM), limited capacity (45 fmoles/mgP) and good specificity. They sedimented at 8 S in a sucrose gradient and were destroyed by pronase digestion and heating. An estrogen receptor having different binding specificity was also demonstrated. On the basis of a marked annual cycle of gonadal activity in ducks, this system appears appropriate for studying the regulation of sex steroid hormone receptors.  相似文献

Available cytosolic estradiol binding sites (EBS) were estimated at 6 h intervals over a 24 h period in individual extracts of uteri, pituitaries and hypothalami from intact, ovariectomized or hypophysectomized 28-day old rats, maintained from birth in a 12 h light-12 h dark photoperiod. Plasma estrogen levels were also recorded, in intact rats, they displayed a 20% rise during daytime. In the uterus and pituitary of ovariectomized rats EBS concentrations exceeded by one third those of intact controls. In intact animals, significant diurnal variations in EBS were observed in both these tissues, with increased daytime levels. These variations appeared to depend on the amount of estrogen in the plasma, as they were not observed in spayed rats. No diurnal variations in EBS were apparent in the hypothalamus of intact animals, but they did occur in ovariectomized rats, and even more significantly in hypophysectomized rats, although the latter had lower EBS concentrations than spayed animals. These variations were presumed to result from the interference of pituitary-controlled hormones other than estrogens in the regulation of EBS levels.  相似文献

In this review, after giving some figures on the economic impact of aphids on agricultural production, we describe the different mechanisms leading to yield losses (direct damage due to sieve drain and plant reaction, indirect damage, often the most important, due to virus transmission). Then, after a history of chemical control and of its limits, the main control strategies (chemical control with decision rules, plant resistance, biological control, farming practices) are reviewed in the light of an integrated pest management approach. Several topics tackled in this article are exemplified for cereal aphids, which are among the most important in Europe as direct feeders and virus vectors.  相似文献

The MRE11/RAD50/NBS1 complex (Mre11 complex) is a central player in most aspects of the cellular response to DNA double-strand breaks, including homologous recombination, non-homologous end joining, telomere maintenance and DNA damage checkpoint activation. Several of these findings are explained by the unusual enzymatic activities and macromolecular structure of the Mre11 complex. The Mre11 complex possesses an ATP-stimulated nuclease to process heterogeneous DNA ends and long coiled-coil tails to link DNA ends and/or sister chromatids. However, the mechanistic role of the Mre11 complex in checkpoint activation has been unclear until recently. New data suggest that the Mre11 complex can directly activate the ATM checkpoint kinase at DNA breaks. These findings, together with newly determined functional interactions, identify the Mre11 complex as an architectural and mechanistic keystone of cellular response events emerging from DNA breaks.  相似文献

Annual patterns of hibernation, body weight, plasma testosterone and thyroxine were measured in two groups of edible dormice exposed to a constant photoperiod and to either environmental temperature (I), the four functions displayed annual cycles and the two hormonal cycles were parallel and restricted to the aroused state, while in group II only irregular infradian fluctuations were observed. However, a body temperature of 30 degrees C remained the critical lower limit enabling the start of the testosterone cycles for the two groups. Respective roles of endogenous and synchronizing mechanisms in controlling biological rhythms are discussed.  相似文献

The circadian rhythms in plasma ACTH, TSH, LH and PRL were explored in sighted or blind, spayed and estrogen-implanted rats. A marked endogenous circadian rhythmicity was shown to persist in the blind animals for the 4 endocrine rhythms. The endogenous rhythms also kept very close reciprocal phase relationship as in the synchronized state, and they were peaking almost simultaneously, after 60 d. of free-running. Finally the endogenous hormonal rhythm maintained their usual phase relationships with the endogenous activity rhythm, so that the circadian phase of increased hormonal secretion coincided with the circadian resting phase of the sleep/wake rhythm. These results are discussed in the light of the alternate theory of one vs multiple but phase-locked circadian pacemakers driving endocrine and behavioral circadian rhythms.  相似文献
