Changes in oxygen consumption rate and Na+/K+-ATPase activity during early development were studied in the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus Lam. The oxygen consumption rate increased from 0.12 μmol O2 mg protein−1 h−1 in unfertilized eggs to 0.38 μmol O2 mg protein−1 h−1 25 min after fertilization. Specific activity of the Na+/K+-ATPase was significantly stimulated after fertilization, ranging up to 1.07 μmol Pi h−1 mg protein−1 in the late blastula stage and slightly lower values in the early and late pluteus stages.  相似文献

Starting from D-seco derivatives of 5-androstene 1-3, the D-homo lactones, 4 and 5, were synthesized. By the Oppenauer oxidation and/or by dehydration of 4 and 5 with 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) or 2,3,5,6-tetrachloro-1,4-benzoquinone (chloranil), the corresponding D-lactones 6-12 were obtained. The structures of 6 and 10 were unambiguously proved by the appropriate X-ray structural analysis. Anti-aromatase assay showed that tested compounds possess inhibition potency, however, two to four times smaller (IC50 from 0.2 to 0.7 microM, respectively) in comparison to aminoglutethimide (AG).  相似文献

We examined the influence of parental age on life history traits of their offspring in the lines of bean weevil that have evolved different rates of senescence. Measurements included preadult traits (egg size, embryonic developmental time, total preadult developmental time, preadult viability) and adult traits (body weight, total realized fecundity of females, first day of egg laying, early fecundity, late fecundity and longevity). The negative parental age effects were observed for all traits except for the early and total realized fecundity. We did not detect statistically significant line×parental age interactions for either preadult- or adult-survival, so offspring survival did not change with parental age after selection for early vs. late reproduction. It seems that selection acting on the quality of offspring produced by parents of different ages has not been responsible for the evolution of senescence in bean weevil. The hippocampal formation is a key structure for memory function in the brain. The functional anatomy of the brain suggests that the hippocampus may be a convergence zone, as it receives polysensory input from distributed association areas throughout the neocortex. However, recent quantitative graph-theoretic analyses of the static large-scale connectome have failed to demonstrate the centrality of the hippocampus; in the context of the whole brain, the hippocampus is not among the most connected or reachable nodes. Here we show that when communication dynamics are taken into account, the hippocampus is a key hub in the connectome. Using a novel computational model, we demonstrate that large-scale brain network topology is organized to funnel and concentrate information flow in the hippocampus, supporting the long-standing hypothesis that this region acts as a critical convergence zone. Our results indicate that the functional capacity of the hippocampus is shaped by its embedding in the large-scale connectome.  相似文献
