The role of the male acoustic signal in courtship behavior in Drosophila virilis was studied by a video-typing method. Three series of the experiments were performed: tests with intact flies, with wingless males and intact females, and with intact males and females with the aristas removed. It was demonstrated that touching and licking were the most prolonged elements of the male courtship. It was noted that removal of the wings in males or aristas in females resulted in an increase in the duration of almost all elements of the courtship behavior (following, touching, licking, singing, and circling) and in a significant decrease in the portion of successful copulations. It was demonstrated that the courtship structure in the experiments with females without aristas changed to a greater extent than in tests with wingless males.  相似文献

A lesser resistance against myocardial infarction (MI) in the Wistar rats as compared with the August rats was found to be combined with a greater stress-response and activation of the heart sympathetic regulation in the former rats. In the Wistar rats and not in August rats, an activation of hypothalamic noradrenaline (NA) system occurs as well as a greater "output" of the NA from sympathetic terminals in the myocardium. Accumulation of the HSP 70 stress-proteins in IM in the myocardium is nearly 2-2.5-fold lesser in the Wistar rats. Thereupon, different resistance against the IM in Wistar and August rats seems to be due to a genetically determine differences in intensity of the stress-response, activation of the heart sympathetic regulation in the IM, and production of the HSP 70 protective stress-proteins in the myocardium.  相似文献

Data obtained by other authors for mammalian cells treated by sequential action of ionizing radiation and hyperthermia were used to estimate the dependence of synergistic enhancement ratio on the ratio of damages induced by these agents. Experimental results were described and interpreted by means of the mathematical model of synergism in accordance with which the synergism is expected to result from the additional lethal damage arising from the interaction of sublesions induced by both agents.  相似文献

In order to estimate the dependence of the synergistic enhancement ratio on the damage level induced by ionizing radiation and hyperthermia, data obtained by other authors for mammalian cells treated with sequential thermoradiation were used. The CK2 α and α′ catalytic gene products have overlapping biochemical activity, but in vivo, their functions are very different. Deletion of both alleles of CK2α leads to mid-gestational embryonic lethality, while deletion of both alleles of CK2α′ does not interfere with viability or development of embryos; however, adult CK2α′?/?males are infertile. To further elucidate developmental roles of CK2, and analyze functional overlap between the two catalytic genes, mice with combined knockouts were bred. Mice bearing any two CK2 catalytic alleles were phenotypically normal. However, inheritance of a single CK2α allele, without either CK2α′ allele, resulted in partial embryonic lethality. Such mice that survived through embryogenesis were smaller at birth than littermate controls, and weighed less throughout life. However, their cardiac function and lifespan were normal. Fibroblasts derived from CK2α+/?CK2α′?/? embryos grew poorly in culture. These experiments demonstrate that combined loss of one CK2α allele and both CK2α′ alleles leads to unique abnormalities of growth and development.  相似文献

The mechanism of catabolite repression caused by sugar transported via the phosphoenolpyruvate-dependent sugar phosphotransferase system (PTS) and stipulated by the decrease of the adenylate cyclase activity was studied. It was demonstrated that the sensitivity of the adenylate cyclase and beta-galactosidase synthesis to methyl-L-D-glucoside (MeGlc) or sorbitol is correlated with the content and activity of glucose (EIIGlc) or mannitol enzyme II of the PTS, correspondingly. Under anaerobic conditions the cells become insensitive to catabolic repression caused by MeGlc and the adenylate cyclase activity does not decrease in the presence of the sugar despite the increased rate of MeGlc transport. The adenylate cyclase activity of the mutant with the Tn5 transposone inserted into the ptsG gene does not change in the presence of MeGlc, while the activity of adenylate cyclase and the differential rate of beta-galactosidase synthesis increase in these bacteria. The data obtained confirm the hypothesis on the "catabolite signal" which is generated when the substrate binds to its transporter, i. e. adenylate cyclase reacts to the conformational changes in the transporter being complexed with it. The strength of this complex depends on the affinity of adenylate cyclase for the transporter and on the value of the membrane potential, delta mu H+ A model is proposed, which explains the necessity of factor IIIGlc for EIIGlc binding to adenylate cyclase.  相似文献

The effects of growth regulator of the new generation—melamine salt of bis(oxymethyl)phosphine acid (melaphene)—on culture growth, pigment and protein content, and the induction of protective chloroplastic chaperone HSP70B in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii CW15 cells were studied. Melaphene exhibited 10–30% growth inhibition at 10−9–10−2% concentration. At 10−9–10−4% of melaphene electrophoretic concentration, the pattern of cellular proteins was similar to the control. The alterations in protein content of algae cells were detected only at 10−2% concentration. The content of chlorophyll and carotenoids in melaphene-treated cells was 17–40% lower than in the control. Melaphene at 10−9–10−2% concentration inhibited HSP70B induction by 39–43% compared to untreated cells. The potential mechanism of melaphene effect might involve its influence on nuclear gene expression.  相似文献

DNA topoisomerase was isolated for the first time from nucleoids of white mustard (Sinapis alba L.) chloroplasts. The enzyme had a molecular weight of 70 kDa; was ATP-independent, required the presence of mono- (K+) and bivalent (Mg2+) cations, and was capable of relaxing both negatively and positively supercoiled DNA. These results suggest that the enzyme isolated belongs to the type IB DNA topoisomerases.  相似文献
