Seeds of Kochia indica Wight germinate rapidly in shallow water,but their germination is retarded on moist filter-paper. Theretardation is traced to a surface-active, saponin-like inhibitor,which is readily leached away in water and is adsorbed by charcoalor soil. Excised embryos may also remain dormant on filter-paper,but if rinsed in water quickly become active. Inhibition isfavoured by higher temperature (30°C. as against 20°or less), especially in an atmosphere of oxygen, although onceactive the embryos grow rapidly in such conditions. The frequency of glycolytic oscillations in yeast cells is only slightly modified by the consumption rate of either glucose or fructose, but it is reduced to 1 /2 to 2/3 if the ketohexose is the only substrate. Phase relations between NADH, adenine nucleotides and sugar phosphates (G-6-P, F-6-P, FDP, DAP) are independent of the hexose fermented. With fructose as a substrate the amplitudes of adenylates and hexose phosphates are distinctly smaller than with glucose. The maximum of G-6-P is higher with glucose and the minimum concentration of FDP is higher with fructose. In the transition to anaerobiosis FDP, adenosine 5′-diphosphate and adenosine 5′-phosphate are extremely high, whereas G-6-P, F-6-P and ATP concentrations are lower if fructose is the substrate fermented. The results are indicative for different control characteristics of the phosphofructokinase step, but on their basis it cannot be distinguished between a direct interaction of fructose (or one of its derivatives) on the phosphofructokinase kinetics or the existence of a bypass for fructose which might be able to withdraw a part of the substrate from the control point at the phosphofructokinase. 相似文献

Little is known about the prevalence of HBV genotypes/sub-genotypes in Jeddah province, although the hepatitis B virus (HBV) was identified as the most predominant type of hepatitis in Saudi Arabia. To characterize HBV genotypes/sub-genotypes, serum samples from 15 patients with chronic HBV were collected and subjected to HBsAg gene amplification and sequence analysis. Phylogenetic analysis of the HBsAg gene sequences revealed that 11 (48%) isolates belonged to HBV/D while 4 (18%) were associated with HBV/C. Notably, a HBV/D sub-genotype phylogenetic tree identified that eight current isolates (72%) belonged to HBV/D1, whereas three isolates (28%) appeared to be more closely related to HBV/D5, although they formed a novel cluster supported by a branch with 99% bootstrap value. Isolates belonging to D1 were grouped in one branch and seemed to be more closely related to various strains isolated from different countries. For further determination of whether the three current isolates belonged to HBV/D5 or represented a novel sub-genotype, HBV/DA, whole HBV genome sequences would be required. In the present study, we verified that HBV/D1 is the most prevalent HBV sub-genotype in Jeddah, and identified novel variant mutations suggesting that an additional sub-genotype designated HBV/DA should be proposed. Overall, the results of the present HBsAg sequence analyses provide us with insights regarding the nucleotide differences between the present HBsAg/D isolates identified in the populace of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and those previously isolated worldwide. Additional studies with large numbers of subjects in other areas might lead to the discovery of the specific HBV strain genotypes or even additional new sub-genotypes that are circulating in Saudi Arabia. 相似文献

Drought stress was imposed on two sets of Arabidopsis thaliana genotypes grown in sand under short‐day conditions and analysed for several shoot and root growth traits. The response to drought was assessed for quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping in a genetically diverse set of Arabidopsis accessions using genome‐wide association (GWA) mapping, and conventional linkage analysis of a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population. Results showed significant genotype by environment interaction (G×E) for all traits in response to different watering regimes. For the RIL population, the observed G×E was reflected in 17 QTL by environment interactions (Q×E), while 17 additional QTLs were mapped not showing Q×E. GWA mapping identified 58 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) associated with loci displaying Q×E and an additional 16 SNPs associated with loci not showing Q×E. Many candidate genes potentially underlying these loci were suggested. The genes for RPS3C and YLS7 were found to contain conserved amino acid differences when comparing Arabidopsis accessions with strongly contrasting drought response phenotypes, further supporting their candidacy.
