Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a severe age dependent and chronic problem with no cure so far. The available treatments are temporary, acting over short period of time. The main pathological hallmark of the disease includes cholinergic dysfunction, oxidative stress, accumulation of Aβ fibrils and tau tangles. In context with the multi-factorial nature of this disease, two different series of molecules were developed to hit the multifactorial disease targets. Mainly, the molecules were designed to inhibit the AChE and aggregation of Aβ, and also oxidative damage. Two novel series of TAC-fenbufen/menbutone conjugated molecules were designed, synthesized and bio-assayed. All compounds showed inhibition capacity towards AChE, Aβ aggregation and moderate to good radical scavenging capacity. Particularly, five TAC-menbutone molecules showed improved AChE and Aβ aggregation inhibition capacity compared to TAC-fenbufen conjugated molecules. Overall, these novel series of molecules may be potential drug lead molecules in the treatment of AD. 相似文献

A palaeocommunity of large Conichnus conicus, a conical, cone-in-cone shaped burrow, created by sea anemones, occurs in medium-grained, crossbedded, well-sorted sandstone in the middle part of the Cretaceous Guneri Member of the Bhuj Formation in India. The trace fossil Conichnus is considered to be a common element of the Skolithos ichnofacies and is interpreted to reflect equilibrium movement in response to substrate aggradation. In the present study, three different varieties of Conichnus conicus are distinguished based on morphology and internal fabric. Community dynamics and burrowing behavior are revealed by inter-burrow relationships, burrow initiation levels and sedimentology. Three types of behavior are envisaged: retrusive equilibrium, protrusive equilibrium response, and escape behavior. Palaeocommunity dynamics show that the tracemakers consisted of only adult organisms that initiated burrows during neap tides and are adapted to feed effectively during weak flow conditions. The occurrence of Conichnus palaeocommunity in the Guneri Member indicates the tidal conditions in a fully marine setting. Results presented herein may aid in the understanding of palaeocommunity dynamics in other shallow marine sequences. 相似文献

Some interesting cultural observations on Scytonema stuposum (Kuetz.) Born., were recorded. It was observed that frequently one or more terminal cells of a branch get cut off but they still remain attached over the sheath of the mother filament. The present study was undertaken to investigate the role of calcium ions (Ca2+) in the induction and secretion of the dengue type 2 virus induced cytotoxic factor and the cytotoxin. This was done by using
calcium channel blocking drugs such as verapamil, nifedipine or diltiazem hydrochloride. The production of cytotoxic factor
was significantly reduced by treatment of dengue type 2 virus infected mice with verapamil. Similarly, a dosedependent inhibition
of the secretion of cytotoxic factor was observed, when spleen cells of the virus-primed mice were treatedin vitro with the 3 calcium channel blockers. The production of cytotoxin by macrophages was abrogated by pretreatment with calcium
channel blockers but had little effect on its secretion as shown by treatment of macrophages with verapamil at 1 h after the
induction to later periods up to 18 h. The findings thus show that in the induction of both the cytokines Ca2+ plays a critical role; on the other hand it is required for the secretion of the cytotoxic factor but not for that of the

Treatment ofTrigonella foenumgraeceum (fenugreek) seedlings with naphthalene acetic acid plus gibberellic acid enhanced the RNA synthesising capacity of nuclei
isolated from the hypocotyl and cotyledonary regions. This increase was more pronounced in the nuclei from the hypocotyl region
than from the cotyledonary region.In vitro addition of these phytohormones did not stimulate RNA synthesis by nuclei. The RNA synthesis by mitochondria was not affected
by preincubating the seedlings with the hormones. The nuclei isolated from callus cultures of fenugreek hypocotyl treated

The present study was carried out to determine the detailed histological and cytological features of the excurrent ducts of
the male reproductive system in the rhesus monkey. The excurrent ducts show a regional difference in their histological features.
The use of some of these features as histological markers and their possible functional significance are discussed.
The epithelial cells in the different components of the excurrent duct system possess cytological features which suggest their
