Self-organizing maps (SOMs) are increasingly popular methods for processing high-dimensional ecological data; however, their potentials are not yet fully utilized. It was our objective to prove evidence on an unknown advantage of SOMs, which we aimed to test using data on the spatial distributional patterns of gammarids. Quantitative samples and a wide spectrum of environmental data were obtained from the catchment area of two of the largest side tributaries of the Tisza River. Distributional patterns and habitat preference of three Gammarus species were described by self-organizing map methods and regression tree analysis (CART) on spatial and temporal scale. Using SOMs helped us bring out distinctions in our data and enhance the differences, thus making them easier to recognize and also, with their help, we were able to model the relations of the species to habitat types that were non-existent among our samples. According to the analysis, Gammarus roeselii preferred low altitudes, high conductivity, fine substrate, deep actual mean depth and dense plant coverage; Gammarus fossarum preferred rocky stream beds, high altitudes, lower temperatures and little actual mean depth; while Gammarus balcanicus preferred coarse substrate, little or no plant coverage and low temperatures. SOMs improved the correlations that proved to be highly useful: besides their use in displaying complex data in a perspicuous way, they have other advantages in bringing out existing relationships in data that would otherwise be difficult to detect.  相似文献

Three Craniophora taxa from China, C. fujianensis Kiss and Gyulai, sp. n., C. fujianensis hainanensis Kiss and Gyulai, ssp. n. and C. sichuanensis Kiss, Gyulai and Saldaitis, sp. n., are newly described. Adult habitus and male genitalia are illustrated and compared with those of C. harmandi (Poujade) and C. praeclara (Graeser). Females of the new taxa are unknown.  相似文献

A new Anagnorisma species, Anagnorisma chamrani sp. n., is described from Binaloud Mountains of Khorasan-e-Razavi province in north-eastern Iran, and compared with its sister species, Anagnorisma eucratides (Boursin, 1960). The adults, and male and female genitalia of both species are illustrated in 11 figures. The genus Anagnorisma is recorded for the first time for the fauna of Iran.  相似文献

Two new subspecies, Oroplexia fortunata siranga Volynkin, Saldaitis & Gyulai, ssp. n. and Oroplexia erinacea cunicula, Saldaitis, Volynkin & Gyulai, ssp. n. are described from western Sichuan (China). Brain-stem, middle latency and late auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs, MLAEPs and LAEPs, respectively) were recorded in a patient 2 months after removal of a tumor affecting the quadrigeminal plate. Simultaneously, MRI showed a left unilateral lesion involving the inferior colliculus, brachium colliculi and the medial geniculate body (MGB). On dichotic listening, there was complete extinction of the right ear input, without subjective auditory disturbance. BAEPs were abnormal after stimulation of the right ear alone. Wave V was delayed and reduced in amplitude, and the I–V interval was augmented. Above all, MLAEPs of both ears were very abnormal. The Pa and Na components over the left hemisphere were abolished (Pa) or very reduced in amplitude or abolished (Na) whereas both Pa and Na components over the right hemisphere were normal. LAEPs were asymmetrical, with reduced P1N1P2 complex over the left hemisphere and absence of polarity reversal over the mastoid. It has been demonstrated that a lesion affecting only the inferior colliculus and MGB unilaterally and not extending beyond the MGB can abolish Na and Pa ipsilaterally. Any discussion of Na and Pa sources should take into account the output of the MGB to the auditory radiations, the MGB, the brachium colliculi and the inferior colliculus.  相似文献
