Food waste leachate (FWL) from the food waste recycling facilities in Korea is a serious environmental problem. Much research was done on anaerobic digestion of FWL in a lab-scale; however, there is little information on a large scale anaerobic digestion system (ADS). In this study, a two-phase ADS in a pilot scale was operated using FWL and the ADS performance and microbial structure dynamics using pyrosequencing were investigated. The ADS was operated for 136 days using FWL containing a high concentration of volatile fatty acid (12,435 ± 2203 mg/L), exhibiting volatile acid (VS) removal efficiency of 74–89% and CH4 yield of 0.39–0.85 Nm3/kg of reduced VS. The microbial structure at 76, 101, and 132 days indicated the methanogen population shift from acetoclastic methanogens (Methanosarcina and Methanosaeta) to hydrogenotrophic methanogens (Methanobacterium and Methanoculleus). The bacterial community also shifted to the taxa syntrophically related with hydrogenotrophic methanogens (Clostridia). The statistical analysis revealed the positive correlation of VS removal efficiency with Methanosarcina, but the negative correlation with Methanobacterium. The results presented here suggest that acetoclastic methanogens and their associated bacteria were more efficient for VS removal in the pilot scale ADS system, providing useful information for FWL treatment in a large scale ADS. 相似文献

Biopurification systems for the treatment of pesticide-containing wastewaters contain a biomixture constituted by low-cost materials (soil, lignocellulosic substrates and humic components). In particular, the use of bioaugmented lignocellulosic materials as part of the biomixture components has been scarcely studied. The use of the fungus Trametes versicolor grown in rice husk (RH) was evaluated as an option of lignocellulosic bioaugmented substrate of potential application in biomixtures for carbofuran (CFN) elimination. RH supported growth and activity of the fungus, as evidenced visually and by laccase activity. The system was able to degrade 55.1% CFN in 34 d with a half-life of 29.9 d, and produced 3-hydroxycarbofuran (but not 3-ketocarbofuran) as a transformation product. This metabolite was successfully eliminated during the process. Moreover, a small fraction of CFN was mineralized (7.4%) within 64 d. Toxicological evaluation revealed a marked detoxification during the process, achieving an 89% decrease in the toxicity after 34 d. Overall performance of the bioaugmented substrate indicates that RH/T. versicolor is an interesting option to take into account in the design of biomixtures for pesticide degradation. 相似文献

Potentially toxic chemicals are routinely applied to land to meet growing demands on waste management and food production, but the fate of these chemicals is often not well understood. Here we demonstrate an integrated field lysimetry and porewater sampling method for evaluating the mobility of chemicals applied to soils and established vegetation. Lysimeters, open columns made of metal or plastic, are driven into bareground or vegetated soils. Porewater samplers, which are commercially available and use vacuum to collect percolating soil water, are installed at predetermined depths within the lysimeters. At prearranged times following chemical application to experimental plots, porewater is collected, and lysimeters, containing soil and vegetation, are exhumed. By analyzing chemical concentrations in the lysimeter soil, vegetation, and porewater, downward leaching rates, soil retention capacities, and plant uptake for the chemical of interest may be quantified. Because field lysimetry and porewater sampling are conducted under natural environmental conditions and with minimal soil disturbance, derived results project real-case scenarios and provide valuable information for chemical management. As chemicals are increasingly applied to land worldwide, the described techniques may be utilized to determine whether applied chemicals pose adverse effects to human health or the environment. 相似文献

Olivibacter sitiensis Ntougias et al. 2007 is a member of the family Sphingobacteriaceae, phylum Bacteroidetes. Members of the genus Olivibacter are phylogenetically diverse and of significant interest. They occur in diverse habitats, such as rhizosphere and contaminated soils, viscous wastes, composts, biofilter clean-up facilities on contaminated sites and cave environments, and they are involved in the degradation of complex and toxic compounds. Here we describe the features of O. sitiensis AW-6T, together with the permanent-draft genome sequence and annotation. The organism was sequenced under the Genomic Encyclopedia for Bacteria and Archaea (GEBA) project at the DOE Joint Genome Institute and is the first genome sequence of a species within the genus Olivibacter. The genome is 5,053,571 bp long and is comprised of 110 scaffolds with an average GC content of 44.61%. Of the 4,565 genes predicted, 4,501 were protein-coding genes and 64 were RNA genes. Most protein-coding genes (68.52%) were assigned to a putative function. The identification of 2-keto-4-pentenoate hydratase/2-oxohepta-3-ene-1,7-dioic acid hydratase-coding genes indicates involvement of this organism in the catechol catabolic pathway. In addition, genes encoding for β-1,4-xylanases and β-1,4-xylosidases reveal the xylanolytic action of O. sitiensis. 相似文献

依据厌氧、准好氧填埋原理构建了填埋试验装置,对准好氧填埋CH4、O2浓度的动态变化进行了监测,并与厌氧填埋结构CH4的浓度变化进行了比较.结果表明,准好氧填埋方式下、厌氧填埋方式下CH4的平均浓度变化范围分别为7%~13%、35%~50%;准好氧填埋结构有利于减少CH4气体的产生;CH4浓度在准好氧填埋、厌氧填埋方式下都表现出明显的空间层次效应,呈现出下层>中层>上层的规律性;准好氧填埋结构的O2浓度呈现上层>中层>下层的规律性. 相似文献

This article describes the removal of heavy metals from contaminated clayey soils by soil washing using various extractants. Two clayey soils, kaolin, a low buffering soil with pH of 5, and glacial till, a high buffering soil with pH of 8, were used to represent various soil conditions. These soils were spiked with chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and cadmium (Cd) to simulate improper disposal of typical electroplating waste constituents. The following extracting solutions were investigated for the removal of heavy metals from the soils: deionized water, distilled water, and tap water; acetic acid and phosphoric acid; chelating agents ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and citric acid; and the oxidizing agents potassium permanganate and hydrogen peroxide. The effect of extractant concentration on removal of heavy metals was also investigated. Complete removal of Cr was achieved using 0.1?M potassium permanganate for kaolin, while a maximum of 54% was removed from glacial till. A maximum Ni removal of 80% was achieved using tapwater for kaolin, while a maximum removal of 48 to 52% was achieved using either 1?M acetic acid or 0.1?M citric acid for glacial till. A maximum Cd removal of 50% was achieved using any of the extractants for kaolin, while a maximum removal of 45 to 48% was obtained using either acids or chelating agents for glacial till. Overall, this study showed that complete removal of Cr, Ni, and Cd from clayey soils is difficult to achieve using the soil-washing process, and also the use of one extractant may not be effective in removing all metals. A sequential extraction using different extractants may be needed for the removal of multiple metal contaminants from clayey soils. 相似文献

1 998年 4~ 7月对高青盐碱池塘单养鲢和罗非鱼围隔生态系统颗粒悬浮物构成和各有机碳库储量及动态进行了研究。结果表明 ,浮游生物的干重 (PZ)占总颗粒悬浮物干物质 (TS)的 4.2 6%~ 2 5 .97% ,平均 1 2 %。各围隔浮游植物干重(DWP)平均值变化范围为 0 .1 6~ 0 .70 mg/L,有鱼围隔均比无鱼围隔的大。浮游动物干重 (DWZ)平均值变化范围为0 .3 2~ 2 .81 mg/L,养鲢围隔中最小 ,小于无鱼对照围隔 ,养罗非鱼围隔明显高于养鲢围隔。颗粒悬浮物的灰分含量平均值为 42 .3 8%。溶解有机碳 (DOC)、颗粒有机碳 (POC)库储量平均值分别为 5 .40± 1 .61 mg C/L和 1 .96± 0 .96mg/L。各处理围隔间颗粒有机物的 C/N比的平均值比较接近 ,总平均值为 6.97± 0 .2 4。 TOC、DOC和 POC比例为 1∶ 0 .73∶0 .2 7。浮游生物碳和腐质颗粒碳占 POC的比例的平均值分别为 3 4.65 %和 65 .3 5 %。腐质颗粒碳、浮游动物碳与浮游植物碳的比例为 9.2 9∶ 3 .71∶ 1。浮游生物碳中浮游动物碳占 78.8% ,浮游植物碳占 2 1 .2 %。浮游动物碳比浮游植物碳高 ,这可能是内陆盐水的通性。盐碱池塘围隔生态系统颗粒有机碳 (POC,mg C/L)与浮游植物叶绿素 a(Chla,μg/L)和悬浮颗粒有机物 (SO,mg/L)之间存在显著的正相关关系 ,其回归方程分别为 相似文献
