The problem of dropout is a common one in longitudinal studies. One usually assumes for the analysis that dropout is at random. There are some tests to investigate this assumption. But these tests depend on normally distributed data or lack power, cf. Listing and Schlittgen (1998). We here propose an overall test which combines several Wilcoxon rank sum tests. The alternative hypothesis states that there is a tendency for larger (smaller) values of the target variable the last time the probands show up. The test is applicable with many ties also. It proves to perform well, compared to the test developed for normally distributed data, as well as to a test for completely missing at random which is proposed by Little (1988). PurposeThe aim of this paper is to characterize two different EPID-based solutions for pre-treatment VMAT quality assurance, the 2D portal dosimetry and the 3D projection technique. Their ability to catch the main critical delivery errors was studied.MethodsMeasurements were performed with a linac accelerator equipped with EPID aSi1000, Portal Dose Image Prediction (PDIP), and PerFRACTION softwares. Their performances were studied simulating perturbations of a reference plan through systematic variations in dose values and micromultileaf collimator position. The performance of PDIP, based on 2D forward method, was evaluated calculating gamma passing rate (%GP) between no-error and error-simulated measurements. The impact of errors with PerFRACTION, based on 3D projection technique, was analyzed by calculating the difference between reference and perturbed DVH (%ΔD). Subsequently pre-treatment verification with PerFRACTION was done for 27 patients of different pathologies.ResultsThe sensitivity of PerFRACTION was slightly higher than sensitivity of PDIP, reaching a maximum of 0.9. Specificity was 1 for PerFRACTION and 0.6 for PDIP. The analysis of patients’ DVHs indicated that the mean %ΔD was (1.2 ± 1.9)% for D2%, (0.6 ± 1.7)% for D95% and (−0.0 ± 1.2)% for Dmean of PTV. Regarding OARs, we observed important discrepancies on DVH but that the higher dose variations were in low dose area (<10 Gy).ConclusionsThis study supports the introduction of the new 3D forward projection method for pretreatment QA raising the claim that the visualization of the delivered dose distribution on patient anatomy has major advantages over traditional portal dosimetry QA systems.  相似文献

One of the largest of antelopes, Derby eland (Taurotragus derbianus), is an important ecosystem component of African savannah. While the western subspecies is Critically Endangered, the eastern subspecies is classified as least concern. Our study presents the first investigation of population dynamics of the Derby eland in the Chinko/Mbari Drainage Basin, Central African Republic, and assesses the conservation role of this population. We analysed data from 63 camera traps installed in 2012. The number of individuals captured within a single camera event ranged from one to 41. Herds were mostly mixed by age and sex, mean group size was 5.61, larger during the dry season. Adult (AD) males constituted only 20% of solitary individuals. The overall sex ratio (M:F) was 1:1.33, while the AD sex ratio shifted to 1:1.52, reflecting selective hunting pressure. Mean density ranged from 0.04 to 0.16 individuals/km2, giving an estimated population size of 445–1,760 individuals. Chinko harbours one of the largest documented populations of Derby eland in Central Africa, making Chinko one of its potential conservation hotspots.  相似文献

Diet manipulation and genetic selection are two important mitigation strategies for reducing enteric methane (CH4) emissions from ruminant livestock. The aim of this study was to assess whether the diurnal pattern of CH4 emissions from individual dairy cows changes over time when cows are fed on diets varying in forage composition. Emissions of CH4 from 36 cows were measured during milking in an automatic (robotic) milking station in three consecutive feeding periods, for a total of 84 days. In Periods 1 and 2, the 36 cows were fed a high-forage partial mixed ration (PMR) containing 75% forage, with either a high grass silage or high maize silage content. In Period 3, cows were fed a commercial PMR containing 69% forage. Cows were offered PMR ad libitum plus concentrates during milking and CH4 emitted by individual cows was sampled during 8662 milkings. A linear mixed model was used to assess differences among cows, feeding periods and time of day. Considerable variation was observed among cows in daily mean and diurnal patterns of CH4 emissions. On average, cows produced less CH4 when fed on the commercial PMR in feeding Period 3 than when the same cows were fed on high-forage diets in feeding Periods 1 and 2. The average diurnal pattern for CH4 emissions did not significantly change between feeding periods and as lactation progressed. Emissions of CH4 were positively associated with dry matter (DM) intake and forage DM intake. It is concluded that if the management of feed allocation remains constant then the diurnal pattern of CH4 emissions from dairy cows will not necessarily alter over time. A change in diet composition may bring about an increase or decrease in absolute emissions over a 24-h period without significantly changing the diurnal pattern unless management of feed allocation changes. These findings are important for CH4 monitoring techniques that involve taking measurements over short periods within a day rather than complete 24-h observations.  相似文献

Plane of nutrition (PN) offered to ewe replacements during the rearing phase (8 to 17 months) affects BW at joining and may affect reproductive performance when joined at ~19 months. The effects of PN offered to ewe replacements during their first winter (winter_1) and second summer (summer_2) were evaluated over 3 consecutive years, using 287 spring-born ewe lambs, representing four genotypes (Belclare (Bel), Charmoise×Scottish Blackface (C×SBF), Bel×SBF (Bel×SBF), Bel×SBF that were heterozygous either FecGH or FecXG mutations that increase ovulation rate (OR) (BelMG×SBF)). During extended (deferred) grazing in winter_1 (November to March) the lambs were offered herbage DM allowances (HA) of 0.75 (L) or 1.75 (H) kg/day. During summer_2 (March to August) the replacements were set stocked to maintain sward heights of 4 (L) or 6 (H) cm, thus yielding a 2×2 factorial design for the nutrition treatments (71 to 73 animals/treatment). Increasing HA during winter_1, and residual sward height during summer_2, increased (P<0.001) BW and body size at joining (19 months) but had no effect (P>0.05) on OR. Mean BW at joining was 53.3, 56.8, 56.6 and 61.7 (SEM 0.74) kg for ewes offered the LL, LH, HL and HH treatments, respectively. Mean OR of C×SBF and BelMG×SBF differed (P<0.001) from that of Bel×SBF by −0.58 and +0.47, respectively. Correlations between linear measurements (LMs) of body size and BW at 7, 12 and 17 months were all positive and significant (P<0.001). The precision of the set of LMs as a predictor of BW at joining improved with age (R2 0.46, 0.54 and 0.74 at 7, 12 and 17 months) but BW at a given age was a better predictor at all age time points. Chest girth was the best predictor, among the LMs, of BW at joining and its explanatory power increased with age. Equations developed using LMs at 7, 12 or 17 months, to predict BW at joining exhibited biases of −2.1, −1.5 and +0.9 kg, respectively. It is concluded that whilst altering PN during the rearing phase changed BW by 16% it had no effect on OR. There was no interaction (P>0.05) between the PN offered during winter_1 and summer_2, or PN and ewe genotype for BW at joining or OR. LMs, either at 7, 12 or 17 months of age, are useful predictors of BW at joining.  相似文献

Context

Microwave sensing appears to be an open wide field to investigate medical applications, such as monitoring of vital signs (temperature, arterial pressure, …), following different kinds of pathologies (cancer, glucose level …) and aid for medical diagnosis. It offers an alternative to determine the dielectric properties of biological tissues through the development of local non-invasive and/or embedded sensors, giving thus a kind of imaging by the dielectric contrast. Moreover, RF communications links between several sensors can be developed to realize “Body Area Networks”.

Methods

Biological tissues having high dielectric permittivity and losses in the microwave frequency domain (around 1 GHz), a resonant dielectric characterization method is used to obtain a good sensitivity. The experimental setup is based on the measured changes of electrical characteristics of the resonator (resonance frequency and its shift and broadening) when a biological tissue is applied on it. In our case, the sensor is a microstrip ring resonator operating in a two-port configuration at a fundamental frequency of 1 GHz. It consists of a meander loop in order to reduce its dimensions. Besides, an original excitation is proposed leading to small perturbation of the resonator when high dielectric losses material is characterized. This increased greatly the sensitivity of the method to obtain the dielectric properties of the samples. Dielectric parameters are determined by fitting S parameters measurements results with those of simulations using electromagnetic software's (HFSS, CST).

Results

Several biological tissues of animal origin were measured ex-vivo in the frequency range 0.5–5 GHz. The dielectric parameters obtained by this method are consistent with values proposed in databases or obtained by other researchers. A very good agreement between simulations and measurements is obtained leading to a good extraction of permittivity and losses of the tissues.

Conclusions

This paper presents an improved microwave sensor, either for reduced dimensions as for sensitivity, able to perform dielectric characterization of material having high complex permittivity such as biological tissues. Experiments and electromagnetic simulations have been achieved on several animal tissues (chicken, beef, pork …), and results are in good agreement with literature. Works are in progress to optimize this sensor as an applicator for medical applications.  相似文献

The cladoceran faunas from 13 northern German lakes (the Plön district) of different trophic levels were analysed using the bosminid and chydorid remains in the surficial sediment as an integrated sample of the total lake fauna. In the dimictic lakes, a shift occurred in the composition of planktonic Cladocera from Bosmina coregoni, including morphs with a mucro, to predominance of Chydorus sphaericus and Bosmina c. thersites as trophic state increased. In the benthic Cladocera (Chydoridae), there was a decrease in species diversity, in the percentages of phytophilous species and in the portion of species that are typical of clear water lakes, but there was an increase both in the number of mud dwellers and species that are typical of polluted lakes. No positive correlation was found between mean depth of the lakes and the planktonic/littoral ratio.  相似文献

The conformational equilibrium of aminosuccinyl peptides between extended conformations and an intramolecularly hydrogen bonded type II′ β-turn conformation has been studied on the peptide Boc-L -Asu-Gly-L -Ala-OMe (Asu = aminosuccinyl residue) by means of temperature dependence of circular dichroism spectra. Owing to the peculiar chiroptical and conformational properties of the Asu residue, this technique proved to be very useful for deriving thermodynamic data for the above folding process. The value of ΔH0 (?6.6 kJ mol?1), obtained for the peptide studied in a chloroformacetonitrile mixture, shows that the lower energy of the folded conformer is primarily due to the characteristic intramolecular hydrogen bond of the β turns. © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献
