In the presence of ascorbate, hexaamineruthenium mediates rapid reduction of cytochrome b-562 in submitochondrial particles but not in mitochondria. The reaction is obsreved in the combined presence of antimycin (or funiculosin) and myxothiazol, which implies direct interaction of Ru(NH3)2+6 with b cytochrome(s). We assume that contrary to previous conclusions (Case and Leigh (1976) Biochem. J., 160, 769-783) redox centre of at least one of the oxidized cytochromes b, most probably of b-562, is exposed to the M-aqueous phase.  相似文献

Large carnivores are frequently used as focal species for landscape-level planning and conservation purposes. Information on cougars Puma concolor , for example, is being used to predict movement corridors and linkage areas in habitats influenced by rapid urbanization. However, animal movement through habitat terrain is a function of multiple factors, including complex topographic features. To assess the use of topographic position during movements by cougars in the Santa Ana Mountain Range of southern California, we analyzed the travel paths of 10–17 radio-tagged individuals monitored during 44 overnight sessions. We examined selection for canyon bottom, gentle slope, steep slope and ridgeline topography at the scale of the movement session and at the scale of the home range. At both scales of selection, our results suggest that traveling or hunting cougars discriminated in their use of topographic position, that canyon bottoms and gentle slopes (<6°) ranked highest in compositional analyses of selection, and that these patterns were not highly confounded by the presence of preferred vegetation types. Ridgelines were used significantly less often than other positions. Our novel method of quantifying availability and use of topographic positions permits the assessment of terrain features, such as canyon bottoms, in facilitating cougar movements. For complex landscapes, models of animal movement should consider the topographic context that motivates patterns of habitat use, and should be developed using data obtained and analyzed at the appropriate spatial and temporal scales.  相似文献

Assessments of scoliosis are routinely done by means of clinical examination and full spinal x-rays. Multiple exposure to ionization radiation, however, can be hazardous to the child and is costly. Here, we explain the use of a noninvasive imaging technique, based on laser optical scanning, for quantifying the three-dimensional (3D) trunk surface topography that can be used to estimate parameters of 3D deformity of the spine. The laser optical scanning system consisted of four BIRIS laser cameras mounted on a ring moving along a vertical axis, producing a topographical mapping of the entire torso. In conjunction with the laser scans, an accurate 3D reconstruction of the spine and rib cage were developed from the digitized x-ray images. Results from 14 scoliotic patients are reported. The digitized surfaces provided the foundation data to start studying concordance of trunk surface asymmetry and spinal shape in idiopathic scoliosis.  相似文献

热带山地雨林中植物不同性别系统的数量和空间分布特征如何? 是否受自然环境条件影响? 这些问题的回答有助于更深入理解群落物种多样性是如何形成的。本文以海南尖峰岭热带山地雨林60 ha大样地中胸径大于1 cm的木本植物为研究对象, 描述了样地内木本植物性别系统的数量特征, 分析了雌雄异株植物空间分布与地形因子的相关关系。结果表明: 大样地内289种木本种子植物中有两性花植物176种, 单性花植物113种; 在单性花植物中, 51种为雌雄同株, 62种为雌雄异株。单性花植物植株数占所有植株总数的36.2%; 雌雄异株植物植株数占所有植株总数的21.5%, 占单性花植物植株数的59.5%。在20 m × 20 m样方的空间尺度, 雌雄异株植物呈现聚集分布的物种共有31种。以20 m × 20 m样方为分析单元, 雌雄异株植物种类的性别比例与海拔、凹凸度和坡度呈弱正相关; 个体相对多度仅和海拔呈弱正相关, 与坡度和凹凸度无相关; 而3个性别系统多样性指数与海拔、凹凸度和坡度均无显著关联。可见雌雄异株植物在海南热带山地雨林中占据了较大的比例, 但大部分种类种群较小, 其数量分布特征与地形因素紧密相关, 雌雄异株植物的存在对群落物种多样性的形成有较大贡献。  相似文献

Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS) is a 3D spinal deformity characterized by curvature and rotation of the spine. Markerless surface topography (ST) analysis has been proposed for diagnosing and monitoring AIS to reduce the X-ray radiation exposure to patients. This method captures scans of the cosmetic deformity of the torso using visible, radiation-free light. The asymmetry analysis of the torso, represented as a deviation contour map with deviation patches outlining the areas of cosmetic asymmetries, has previously been shown to predict the severity and progression of the condition in comparison with radiographs, by using classification trees. While the classification results were promising, it was reported that some mild curves were erroneously diagnosed. Furthermore, this approach is highly sensitive to threshold values selected in the decision trees. Therefore, this study aims to define a custom Neighbourhood Classifier algorithm for AIS classification to improve the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of predicting curve severity and curve progression in AIS. Curve severity was predicted with 80% accuracy (sensitivity = 81%; specificity = 79%) for thoracic-thoracolumbar curves and 72% (sensitivity = 93%; specificity = 53%) for lumbar curves. This represents an improvement over the previous method with curve severity accuracies of 77% and 63% for thoracic-thoracolumbar and lumbar curves, respectively. Additionally, curve progression was predicted with 93% accuracy (sensitivity = 83%; specificity = 95%) representing a substantial improvement over the previous method with an accuracy of 59%. The current method has shown the potential to further reduce radiation exposure for AIS patients by avoiding X-rays for mild and non-progressive curves identified using ST analysis.  相似文献

位于亚热带的浙江天童和古田山常绿阔叶林大样地分布有较高比例的落叶树种,那么它们与常绿树种的共存机制是什么?常绿树种和落叶树种生态习性差异较大,二者对生境的选择应有所不同,我们推测生境分化可能是两类植物实现共存的主要机制。为检验该假设,我们以天童20ha动态样地调查数据为依托,选择个体数≥20的55个常绿树种和42个落叶树种作为分析对象,用典范对应分析(CCA)研究了地形因子对二者分布的影响差异,用torus转换检验来分析常绿树种和落叶树种与各类地形生境的关联。结果如下:(1)CCA分析表明地形因子对常绿树种分布的解释量为19.2%,对落叶树种分布的解释量为7.0%。(2)torus转换检验结果表明,与沟谷成正关联的常绿树种和落叶树种的比例分别为16.4%和28.6%,成负关联的比例分别为40%和7%;与山脊成正关联的常绿树种和落叶树种的比例分别为41.8%和4.8%,成负关联的比例分别为10.9%和47.6%;与受干扰生境成正关联的常绿树种和落叶树种的比例分别为16.4%和42.9%。上述结果说明地形对常绿树种分布的影响大于落叶树种;两个植物类群对生境的选择多呈现相反格局,尤其是在沟谷生境和山脊生境,这进一步表明生境分化是常绿树种和落叶树种共存的重要机制之一,生态位理论在一定程度上能较好地解释亚热带常绿阔叶林物种多样性的维持。  相似文献

以四川小河沟自然保护区为研究对象,在遥感影像和DEM数据的基础上,对植被类型在地形上的分布差异进行研究。结果表明:(1)随着海拔高度的逐渐上升,各种植被类型依次出现和消失,呈顺序分布,并且每种植被类型在相应的海拔段上拥有优势地位。(2)植被类型的分布与坡向之间存在相关性,大面积的常绿落叶阔叶林和次生落叶阔叶林常常在西南坡向上出现,高山灌丛和高山草甸在南坡上的分布面积最大,而在平地、北坡和西北坡上则少有亚高山草甸分布。(3)随着坡度由缓变陡,各植被类型的面积比例在不同的坡度段内发生相应变化,但各坡度段上的植被类型均以次生落叶阔叶林和亚高山针叶林为主,除亚高山草甸外,其余植被类型均主要分布在坡度20~°50°的区域内。  相似文献

We monitored seventy-two 1 ha permanent plots spread over 64 km2 of terra firme forest at Reserva Ducke (Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil) over 2-yr intervals to assess the effects of a soil and topographic gradient on the rate of change in the aboveground tree live biomass (AGLB). AGLB increased significantly over the 2-yr intervals, exhibiting a mean rate of change of 1.65 Mg/ha/yr (bootstrapped 95% CI: 1.15, 2.79). The rate of change varied according to tree size class; understory and sub-canopy trees exhibited higher rates of change. Over the whole period, the rate of change was not related to soil or topographic features of the plots, but there was evidence that the relationships varied depending on the year of measurement. In the plots monitored between 2001 and 2003 we found a significant relationship between AGLB change and the soil textural gradient, but this relationship was not evident in plots monitored between 2002 and 2004. This suggests that both the temporal variation in the soil–biomass change relationship and the size structure of the forest need to be included in models of biomass change in Amazonia. We also noted that the rate of biomass change is sensitive to the equation used to estimate AGLB. Allometric models that incorporate wood-density data provide higher per plot AGLB estimates, but lower rates of change, suggesting that variations in floristic composition have important implications for carbon cycling in diverse tropical forests.

1.  Relationships between tropical rain forest biomass and environmental factors have been determined at regional scales, e.g. the Amazon Basin, but the reasons for the high variability in forest biomass at local scales are poorly understood. Interactions between topography, soil properties, tree growth and mortality rates, and treefalls are a likely reason for this variability.
2.  We used repeated measurements of permanent plots in lowland rain forest in French Guiana to evaluate these relationships. The plots sampled topographic gradients from hilltops to slopes to bottomlands, with accompanying variation in soil waterlogging along these gradients. Biomass was calculated for >175 tree species in the plots, along with biomass productivity and recruitment rates. Mortality was determined as standing dead and treefalls.
3.  Treefall rates were twice as high in bottomlands as on hilltops, and tree recruitment rates, radial growth rates and the abundance of light-demanding tree species were also higher.
4.  In the bottomlands, the mean wood density was 10% lower than on hilltops, the basal area 29% lower and the height:diameter ratio of trees was lower, collectively resulting in a total woody biomass that was 43% lower in bottomlands than on hilltops.
5.  Biomass productivity was 9% lower in bottomlands than on hilltops, even though soil Olsen P concentrations were higher in bottomlands.
6.   Synthesis . Along a topographic gradient from hilltops to bottomlands there were higher rates of treefall, which decreased the stand basal area and favoured lower allocation to height growth and recruitment of light-demanding species with low wood density. The resultant large variation in tree biomass along the gradient shows the importance of determining site characteristics and including these characteristics when scaling up biomass estimates from stand to local or regional scales.  相似文献
