A Biofeedback System of Baroreceptor Cardiac Reflex Sensitivity   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The evidence presently available suggests that the parasympathetic nervous system and sympathetic-parasympathetic interactions could play a role in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disorders and, specifically, in hypertension. A loss of sensitivity of the baroreceptor reflex is one of the fundamental mechanisms underlying the deficits found in parasympathetic cardiac control. The baroreceptor reflex is a basic mechanism for the regulation of blood pressure, a powerful source of vagal afferent input to the central nervous system, and one of the most important physiological mechanisms affecting efferent cardiac vagal activity. This paper describes a computerized system for the on-line analysis of the baroreceptor cardiac reflex function using the noninvasive spontaneous sequence method in the time domain. The system provides feedback of the baroreceptor reflex sensitivity (the change in heart period per unit change in systolic blood pressure) differentially both when the systolic blood pressure is increasing and when it is decreasing. The accuracy of the described system has been tested against the conventional off-line procedure. None of the parameters supplied by the analysis show a significant difference between the on-line and off-line methods. These results confirm the accuracy of the on-line system to analyze baroreceptor cardiac reflex function.  相似文献

Low magnitude high frequency vibration (LMHFV) exhibits effectively anabolic effects on the bone tissue, and can promote osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in vitro. The role of p38 MAPK signaling in LMHFV-induced osteogenesis remains unclear. In this current study, LMHFV loading was applied to BMSCs in vitro, and cell proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), matrix mineralization, as well as osteogenic genes expression were assayed. The mechanism of mechanical signal transduction was analysed using PCR array, qRT-PCR and Western blot. LMHFV increased cell proliferation in the growth medium, while inhibited proliferation in the osteogenic medium. ALP activity, matrix mineralization and osteogenic genes expression of Runx2, Col-I, ALP, OPN and OC were increased by LMHFV. p38 and MKK6 genes expression, and p38 phosphorylation were promoted in LMHFV-induced osteogenesis. Inhibition of p38 MAPK with SB203580 and targeted p38 siRNA blunted the increased ALP activity and osteogenic genes expression by LMHFV. These findings suggest that LMHFV promotes osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs, and p38 MAPK signaling shows an important function in LMHFV-induced osteogenesis.  相似文献

The bundle of tonic fibres situated at the proximal end of the locust metathoracic extensor tibialis muscle is innervated by the dorsal unpaired median neurone (DUMETi) as well as by the slow excitatory (SETi)) and common inhibitor (CI) neurones. It is not innervated by the fast excitatory neurone (FETi).These fibres contract spontaneously and rhythmically. The myogenic rhythm can be modified by neural stimulation.Spontaneous slow depolarizing potentials resembling the pacemaker potentials of insect cardiac muscle were demonstrated in these fibres.The actions of glutamate on the tonic muscle fibres are not compatible with its being a specific excitatory transmitter. Glutamate can stimulate weak contractions of the muscle, but this action is inhibited when chloride ions are removed from the saline.10?6 M Octapamine hyperpolarizes the tonic fibre membrane. Octopamine, GABA and glutamate all inhibit the myogenic contractions and reduce the force of the neurally evoked contractions.The tonic muscle is very responsive to proctolin. At 5 × 10?11 M proctolin enhances the force and increases the frequency of myogenic contractions. At 10?9 M it depolarizes the muscle membrane potential, and at that and higher concentrations it causes the muscle to contract. At 2 × 10?7 M proctolin induces contractures which resemble those evoked by sustained high-frequency neural stimulation. Iontophoretic experiments show that proctolin receptors occur at localized sites on the tonic fibre membrane.  相似文献

Changes in the excitability of the human triceps surae muscle short latency stretch reflexes were investigated in six male subjects before and after 4 weeks of progressive two-legged hopping training. During the measurements the subjects performed 2-Hz hopping with: preferred contact time (PCT) and short contact time. The following reflex parameters were examined before and after the training period: the soleus muscle (SOL) Hoffmann-reflex (H-reflex) at rest and during hopping, the short latency electromyogram (EMG) components of the movement induced stretch reflex (MSR) in SOL and medial gastrocnemius muscle (MG), and the EMG amplitude of the SOL and MG tendon reflexes (T-reflexes) elicited at rest. The main results can be summarized as follows: the SOL T-reflex had increased by about 28% (P < 0.05) after training while the MG T-reflex was unchanged; the SOL MSR (always evident) and the MG MSR (when observable) did not change in amplitude with training, and before training the SOL H-reflex in both hopping situations was significantly depressed to about 40% of the reference value at standing rest (P < 0.05). After training the H-reflex during PCT hopping was no longer depressed. As the value of the measured mechanical parameters (the total work rate, joint angular velocity and the ankle joint work rate) was unchanged after training in both hopping situations, the reflex changes observed could not be ascribed to changes in the movement pattern. To explain the observed changes, hypotheses of changes in the excitability of the stretch reflex caused by the training were taken into consideration and discussed. Accepted: 22 May 1998  相似文献

The parasitic mite Varroa destructor, in interaction with different viruses, is the main cause of honey bee colony mortality in most parts of the world. Here we studied how effects of individual-level parasitization are reflected by the bee colony as a whole. We measured disease progression in an apiary of 24 hives with differing degree of mite infestation, and investigated its relationship to 28 biometrical, physiological and biochemical indicators. In early summer, when the most heavily infested colonies already showed reduced growth, an elevated ratio of brood to bees, as well as a strong presence of phenoloxidase/prophenoloxidase in hive bees were found to be predictors of the time of colony collapse. One month later, the learning performance of worker bees as well as the activity of glucose oxidase measured from head extracts were significantly linked to the timing of colony collapse. Colonies at the brink of collapse were characterized by reduced weight of winter bees and a strong increase in their relative body water content. Our data confirm the importance of the immune system, known from studies of individually-infested bees, for the pathogenesis of varroosis at colony level. However, they also show that single-bee effects cannot always be extrapolated to the colony as a whole. This fact, together with the prominent role of colony-level factors like the ratio between brood and bees for disease progression, stress the importance of the superorganismal dimension of Varroa research.  相似文献

Brood parasites such as the common cuckoo Cuculus canorus exploit the parental abilities of their hosts, hosts avoid brood parasitism and predation by showing specific behavior such as loss of feathers, emission of fear screams and contact calls, displaying wriggle behavior to avoid hosts or potential prey, pecking at hosts and prey, and expressing tonic immobility (showing behavior like feigning death or rapid escape from predators and brood parasites). These aspects of escape behavior are consistent for individuals but also among sites, seasons, and years. Escape behavior expressed in response to a broad range of cuckoo hosts and prey are consistently used against capture by humans, but also hosts and brood parasites and predators and their prey. An interspecific comparative phylogenetic analysis of escape behavior by hosts and their brood parasites and prey and their predators revealed evidence of consistent behavior when encountering potential parasites or predators. We hypothesize that personality axes such as those ranging from fearfulness to being bold, and from neophobic to curiosity response in brood parasites constitute important components of defense against brood parasitism that reduces the overall risk of parasitism.  相似文献

A dominant negative mutation, Glued1, that codes for a component of the dynactin complex, disrupted the axonal anatomy of leg sensory neurons in Drosophila. To examine neuron structure in mutant animals, a P[Gal4] enhancer trap targeted expression of lacZ to the sensory neurons and thereby labeled neurons in the femoral chordotonal organ and their axons within the central nervous system. When these sensory axons were examined in the Glued1 mutant specimens, they were observed to arborize abnormally. This anatomical disruption of the sensory axons was associated with a corresponding disruption in a reflex. Normally, the tibial extensor motor neurons were excited when the femoral-tibial joint was flexed, but this resistance reflex was nearly absent in mutant animals. We used the P[Gal4] insertion strains to target expression of tetanus toxin light chain to these sensory neurons in wild-type animals and showed that this blocked the resistance reflex and produced a phenocopy of the Glued result. We conclude that disruption of the dynein-dynactin complex disrupts sensory axon path finding during metamorphosis, and this in turn disrupts synaptic connectivity. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of 8-week low-frequency plantar vibration training on patients with sensorimotor diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN).

Participants: Twelve patients took part in the investigation.

Results: An increase of the nerve conductive velocity of soral and peroneal nerves of feet, increased postural stability, and disappearance of the pain and tingling were observed.

Conclusion: The obtained results provide evidence for beneficial effects of 8-week plantar vibration training in patients with DPN.  相似文献

The aim of the study was to assess the reliability and variability of stretch reflex magnitude (SRmag) in sub-acute stroke patients. For testing, rapid dorsiflexion stretches were induced 24?h apart in 22 patients and 34 controls. SRmag between sessions in patients and controls was not different and the SRmag on the more-affected side was significantly larger than the less-affected, dominant, and non-dominant sides. The SRmag was consistent between sessions. Therefore, patients were not as variable between sessions as we had hypothesized.  相似文献
