La Salada de Chiprana Lake, located in the Ebro River basin, northeastern Spain, is the only permanent and deep water hypersaline ecosystem in all of western Europe. With a total surface of 31 ha and a maximum depth of 5.6 m, it has several basins bounded by elongated sandstone-bodies or ribbons which are paleochannels of Miocene age. Its salinity varied from 30 to 73 g 1–1 during the 1989 hydrological cycle and the most abundant ions were magnesium and sulphate. Depth-time distributions of major physico-chemical variables demonstrated that the lake was stratified in two distinctive layers during most of the year. The chemocline disappeared only in October, with the complete overturn of the water column. In the deep water, three conditions occurred which allowed development of green sulphur bacteria populations: (1) oxygen depletion, (2) presence of hydrogen sulphide and (3) presence of light. Benthic microbial mats covered the sediments of shallow shores of moderate slope.  相似文献

Abstract

Nothia ex gr. excelsa (Grzybowski, 1898) branched, agglutinated, tubular foraminifera is documented for the first time from the Karpatian (latest Burdigalian) molasse sediments of the Paratethys. Excellently preserved specimens allowed the study of the macro- and microstructure of the test using reflected and polarized light microscopes, SEM and Raman spectroscopy. The mineralogical components of the agglutinated grains, the appearance of the protruded aperture with a scalloped-edge, the microstructure of the bilamellar wall, the presence of the calcite microgranular cement could all be described in detail. Based on autecology, the test morphology and the associated fauna indicate that Nothia ex gr. excelsa was a surface-dwelling detritivore with a seasonal-phytophagous mode of life.  相似文献

The design and performance of solar cells based on InP grown by the nonepitaxial thin‐film vapor–liquid–solid (TF‐VLS) growth technique is investigated. The cell structure consists of a Mo back contact, p‐InP absorber layer, n‐TiO2 electron selective contact, and indium tin oxide transparent top electrode. An ex situ p‐doping process for TF‐VLS grown InP is introduced. Properties of the cells such as optoelectronic uniformity and electrical behavior of grain boundaries are examined. The power conversion efficiency of first generation cells reaches 12.1% under simulated 1 sun illumination with open‐circuit voltage (VOC) of 692 mV, short‐circuit current (JSC) of 26.9 mA cm?2, and fill factor (FF) of 65%. The FF of the cell is limited by the series resistances in the device, including the top contact, which can be mitigated in the future through device optimization. The highest measured VOC under 1 sun is 692 mV, which approaches the optically implied VOC of ≈795 mV extracted from the luminescence yield of p‐InP.  相似文献

The eastern North American population of the monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus plexippus) has different migratory routes. The majority fly to overwintering colonies in Mexico and others take an eastern route through Florida and Cuba. Monarchs migrating through Florida–Cuba do not overwinter and are mostly found nectaring and flying close to vegetation. This present study explores whether Florida–Cuba versus Mexican migrants differ in (1) phenotypic traits important for migration (e.g. wing size and condition, lipid and lean mass content, and reproductive status) and (2) migratory strategies. The monarch natal grounds (e.g. migrants versus residents) were determined through thin‐layer chromatography cardenolide fingerprint and stable isotopes (hydrogen δ2H and carbon δ13C). In addition, wing size and condition, lipid and lean mass, and reproductive status were determined. The results suggest that Mexican migrants are better suited for longer sustained flights and successful overwinter periods as a result of larger wings in better condition, reproductive diapause, and significant fat content. By contrast, Florida–Cuba migrants are more suited for shorter flights and opportunistic migratory strategies, given that their wings were in poor condition, as well as the active reproductive status of > 50% of these butterflies and their significantly low fat content. Organic solar cells based on ternary active layers can lead to higher power conversion efficiencies than corresponding binaries, and improved stability. The parameter space for optimization of multicomponent systems is considerably more complex than that of binaries, due to both, a larger number of parameters (e.g., two relative compositions rather than one) and intricate morphology–property correlations. Most experimental reports to date reasonably limit themselves to a relatively narrow subset of compositions (e.g., the 1:1 donor/s:acceptor/s trajectory). This work advances a methodology that allows exploration of a large fraction of the ternary phase space employing only a few (<10) samples. Each sample is produced by a designed sequential deposition of the constituent inks, and results in compositions gradients with ≈5000 points/sample that cover about 15%–25% of the phase space. These effective ternary libraries are then colocally imaged by a combination of photovoltaic techniques (laser and white light photocurrent maps) and spectroscopic techniques (Raman, photoluminescence, absorption). The generality of the methodology is demonstrated by investigating three ternary systems, namely PBDB‐T:ITIC:PC70BM, PTB7‐Th:ITIC:PC70BM, and P3HT:O‐IDFBR:O‐IDTBR. Complex performance‐structure landscapes through the ternary diagram as well as the emergence of several performance maxima are discovered.  相似文献
