Sink strength regulates photosynthesis in sugarcane   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The relationship in sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) between photosynthetic source tissue and sink material was examined through manipulation of the sink:source ratio of field-grown Saccharum spp. hybrid cv. N19 (N19). To enhance sink strength, all leaves, except for the third fully expanded leaf, were enclosed in 90% shade cloth for varying periods of time. Variations in sucrose, glucose and fructose concentrations were measured and the effects of shading on the leaf gas exchange and fluorescence characteristics recorded. Changes in carbon partitioning caused by shading were examined based on the uptake and translocation of fixed 14CO2. Following a decline in sucrose concentrations in young internodal tissue and shaded leaves, significant increases in the CO2-saturated photosynthetic rate (Jmax), carboxylation efficiency (CE) and electron transport rate were observed in unshaded leaves after 8 d of shading treatment. It was concluded that up-regulation of source-leaf photosynthetic capacity is correlated with a decrease in assimilate availability to acropetal culm sink tissue. Furthermore, a significant relationship was revealed between source hexose concentration and photosynthetic activity.  相似文献

During a survey of nitrogen-fixing Burkholderia associated with sugarcane in Tamil Nadu, some endophytes were isolated on PCAT medium. Isolation was based on the use of the selective PCAT medium. Four isolates were studied, all belonging to the genus Burkholderia. One of them, MG43 was consistently more active in reducing acetylene and was identified as Burkholderia vietnamiensis. This isolate was used to inoculate micro-propagated sugarcane plantlets in a comparison with two other diazoptrophs, viz. Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicusT and Herbaspirillum seropedicaeT. Inoculated plants and uninoculated controls were used in a pot experiment followed by two field experiments under different rates of nitrogen fertilisers. MG43 and G. diazotrophicus performed best in sugarcane, their natural host. Biomass increase due to MG43 inoculation reached 20% in the field. Inoculated plants were heavily colonised by the inoculated bacterium (up to 115,000 CFU g−1 root fresh weight). Inoculation by a combinaison of the three strains performed less well than inoculation by a single MG43 suspension. Ecological implications are discussed, as well as the potential of these bacteria to provide a feasible alternative to higher N fertilisers rates in a low input and long term sustainable rural economy.  相似文献

目的:选育出适合发酵甘蔗汁生产燃料乙醇的高产酿酒酵母的菌株.方法:以酵母菌株 YS,作为出发菌株,将酶解破壁后获得的原生质体进行紫外诱变,通过初筛和复筛进行选育.结果:获得一株高产酒精的酿酒酵母突变株 YSs-1,该突变株发酵甘蔗汁的乙醇含量可达12.6%(V/V),较出发菌株的 11.6%(V/V)提高了 8.6%,其糖的转化率高达 94.5%,高于出发菌株的 87.0%.结论:通过 5 次连续传代培养后其突变株的乙醇产量保持稳定,表明该突变株完全可以用于发酵甘蔗汁生产燃料乙醇.  相似文献

Dipha aphidivora (Meyrick), a lepidopteran predator of sugarcane woolly aphid (SWA) Ceratovacuna lanigera Zehntner was successfully reared for three successive generations, for the first time on a freeze-dried beef liver-based larval semi-synthetic diet. We compared biological parameters viz., larval survival, adult weight, pre-and oviposition period, fertility, fecundity and female longevity of D. aphidivora reared on the semi-synthetic diet with the predators reared on SWA. Development time of larvae reared from first instar to pupation was 20.6 days on the semi-synthetic diet and 12 days on SWA, while survival of the larvae to adults was 61.8 and 91.8% on larval semi-synthetic diet and SWA, respectively. Fecundity recorded from semi-synthetic diet (41 eggs/female) was significantly less than those produced on SWA (58 eggs/female). However, fertility and longevity of the predators reared on SWA and semi-synthetic diet did not differ significantly. The study revealed the possibility of rearing D. aphidivora larvae using synthetic diet.  相似文献

This work describes the preparation of new chelating material from mercerized sugarcane bagasse. The first part treats the chemical modification of non-mercerized sugarcane bagasse (SCB) and twice-mercerized sugarcane bagasse (MMSCB) with succinic anhydride. Mass percent gains (mpg) and degrees of succinylation (DS) of succinylated non- and twice-mercerized sugarcane bagasse 1 (SCB 1 and MMSCB 1) were calculated. MMSCB 1 exhibited an increase in mpg and DS of 49.2% and 0.9 mmol/g in relation to SCB 1. SCB 2 and MMSCB 2 were obtained by treatment of MMSCB 1 and SCB 1 with bicarbonate solution to release the carboxylate functions and characterized by FTIR. The second part evaluates and compares the adsorption capacity of SCB 2 and MMSCB 2 for Cu2+, Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions in an aqueous single metal solution. Adsorption isotherms were developed using Langmuir model. MMSCB 2 exhibited an increase in Qmax for Cd2+ (43.6 mg/g) and Pb2+ (83.3 mg/g) in relation to SCB 2.  相似文献

A taxonomic revision ofPuccinia species causing rust diseases on sugarcane was conducted to clarify their morphological characteristics. Specimens including previously reported species,Puccinia melanocephala, P. kuehnii andPuccinia sp.sensu Muta, 1987, were collected in Japan and the Philippines and borrowed from various herbaria worldwide. Morphological characteristics of these specimens were examined under light and scanning electron microscopes. Comparative morphological studies of the specimens showed that rust fungi infecting sugarcane could be classified into two species,Puccinia melanocephala andP. kuehnii. Puccinia sp.sensu Muta was morphologically identical withP. kuehnii. Results of this study corroborate previous phylogenetic analysis results of D1/D2 regions of LSU rDNA gene. It is well known that parasitoids are attracted to volatiles emitted by host‐damaged plants; however, this tritrophic interaction may change if plants are attacked by more than one herbivore species. The larval parasitoid Cotesia flavipesCameron (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) has been used intensively in Brazil to control the sugarcane borer, Diatraea saccharalisFabricius (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in sugarcane crops, where Spodoptera frugiperda (JE Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), a non‐stemborer lepidopteran, is also a pest. Here, we investigated the ability of C. flavipes to discriminate between an unsuitable host (S. frugiperda) and a suitable host (D. saccharalis) based on herbivore‐induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) emitted by sugarcane, and whether multiple herbivory (D. saccharalis feeding on stalk + S. frugiperda feeding on leaves) in sugarcane affected the attractiveness of HIPVs to C. flavipes. Olfactometer assays indicated that volatiles of host and non‐host‐damaged plants were attractive to C. flavipes. Even though host‐ and non‐host‐damaged plants emitted considerably different volatile blends, neither naïve nor experienced wasps discriminated suitable and unsuitable hosts by means of HIPVs emitted by sugarcane. With regard to multiple herbivory, wasps innately preferred the odor blend emitted by sugarcane upon non‐host + host herbivory over host‐only damaged plants. Multiple herbivory caused a suppression of some volatiles relative to non‐host‐damaged sugarcane that may have resulted from the unaltered levels of jasmonic acid in host‐damaged plants, or from reduced palatability of host‐damaged plants to S. frugiperda. In conclusion, our study showed that C. flavipes responds to a wide range of plant volatile blends, and does not discriminate host from non‐host and non‐stemborer caterpillars based on HIPVs emitted from sugarcane. Moreover, we showed that multiple herbivory by the sugarcane borer and fall armyworm increases the attractiveness of sugarcane plants to the parasitoids.  相似文献

GHG mitigation by bioenergy crops depends on crop type, management practices, and the input of residue carbon (C) to the soil. Perennial grasses may increase soil C compared to annual crops because of more extensive root systems, but it is less clear how much soil C is derived from above‐ vs. belowground inputs. The objective of this study was to synthesize the existing knowledge regarding soil C inputs from above‐ and belowground crop residues in regions cultivated with sugarcane, corn, and miscanthus, and to predict the impact of residue removal and tillage on soil C stocks. The literature review showed that aboveground inputs to soil C (to 1‐m depth) ranged from 70% to 81% for sugarcane and corn vs. 40% for miscanthus. Modeled aboveground C inputs (to 30 cm depth) ranged from 54% to 82% for sugarcane, but were 67% for miscanthus. Because 50% of observed miscanthus belowground biomass is below 30 cm depth, it may be necessary to increase the depth of modeled soil C dynamics to reconcile modeled belowground C inputs with measured. Modeled removal of aboveground corn residue (25–100%) resulted in C stock reduction in areas of corn–corn–soybean rotation under conventional tillage, while no‐till management lessoned this impact. In sugarcane, soil C stocks were reduced when total aboveground residue was removed at one site, while partial removal of sugarcane residue did not reduce soil C stocks in either area. This study suggests that aboveground crop residues were the main C‐residue source to the soil in the current bioethanol sector (corn and sugarcane) and the indiscriminate removal of crop residues to produce cellulosic biofuels can reduce soil C stocks and reduce the environmental benefits of bioenergy. Moreover, a switch to feedstocks such as miscanthus with more allocation to belowground C could increase soil C stocks at a much faster rate.  相似文献

Extraction of high-value products from agricultural wastes is an important component for sustainable bioeconomy development. In this study, wax extraction from sugarcane bagasse was performed and the beneficial effect of dewaxing pretreatment on the enzymatic hydrolysis was investigated. About 1.2% (w/w) of crude sugarcane wax was obtained from the sugarcane bagasse using the mixture of petroleum ether and ethanol (mass ratio of 1:1) as the extraction agent. Results of Fourier-transform infrared characterization and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry qualitative analysis showed that the crude sugarcane wax consisted of fatty fractions (fatty acids, fatty aldehydes, hydrocarbons, and esters) and small amount of lignin derivatives. In addition, the effect of dewaxing pretreatment on the enzymatic hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse was also investigated. The digestibilities of cellulose and xylan in dewaxed sugarcane bagasse were 18.7 and 10.3%, respectively, compared with those of 13.1 and 8.9% obtained from native sugarcane bagasse. The dewaxed sugarcane bagasse became more accessible to enzyme due to the disruption of the outermost layer of the waxy materials.  相似文献

为从能量平衡及分配的角度研究干旱胁迫下甘蔗(Saccharum officinarum)苗期光系统的运转状况, 进而为丰富不同甘蔗品种的抗旱性评价指标及实现对季节性干旱胁迫的快速诊断提供理论依据, 该研究通过对基于Lake模型的叶绿素荧光参数在不同入射光强下变化的动态分析, 研究光合电子传递链中能量平衡状态对不同水分梯度(40%、25%、10%、8%)的响应。结果表明: 两个供试品种(耐旱品种‘ROC22’和非耐旱品种‘ROC16’)的最大光能利用效率(Fv/Fm)、相对电子传递速率(rETR)、光系统II(PSII)量子效率(ΦII)和光化学猝灭(qL)均随着干旱胁迫程度的增加而下降, 可调节性能量耗散(ΦNPQ)和非调节性能量耗散(ΦNO)则随着干旱胁迫程度的增加而上升。除ΦNO之外的叶绿素荧光参数的变化幅度均随着光合有效辐射(PAR)的增加而增大。在干旱胁迫的前中期, 相对于‘ROC22’, ‘ROC16’的PSII反应中心能够维持较高的开放程度; 但‘ROC22’调节能量耗散的能力和对干旱胁迫的敏感程度均高于‘ROC16’, 说明较强的光保护能力是‘ROC22’的抗旱性高于‘ROC16’的主要原因之一。对干旱胁迫敏感且在不同PAR下较为稳定的ΦNO可作为甘蔗苗期抗旱性的快速诊断和评价指标。rETR对递增的PAR的响应表现为随着干旱胁迫程度的增加而提前出现峰值或下降趋势, 但是不同水分梯度下的rETRPAR较低时并无显著差异, 表明干旱胁迫下光抑制现象的提早出现是造成光系统损伤的首要因素, 高光强对干旱胁迫信号起放大作用。  相似文献
