The properties of the system maintaining the upright posture were compared in different states of the oculomotor system: during target fixation and horizontal fast and slow pursuit (0.1 and 0.01 Hz), recording the trajectories of the center of pressure in the frontal and the sagittal planes. Methods of nonlinear analysis were applied to assess the similarity in pairwise comparisons. The overall similarity of the frontal plane dynamics proved to be higher than that of the sagittal plane dynamics. However, differences were revealed in fast pursuit versus slow pursuit or fixation in the frontal but not in the sagittal plane. Such differences may reflect the different inertia of the oculomotor and the balance control systems. In general, the results are consistent with the current notions on the two orthogonal subsystems of postural control. 相似文献

The grey‐crowned babbler (Pomatostomus temporalis) is a cooperative breeding bird species in which nonbreeding helpers of both sexes care for the young of breeding individuals. To measure the genetic relatedness between breeders and their offspring and helpers, we developed nine microsatellite markers. Most of the loci were highly polymorphic. These loci will be useful in understanding the evolution and maintenance of cooperative breeding and helping behaviour in this species. 相似文献

The use of mass spectrometry (MS) is pivotal in analyses of the metabolome and presents a major challenge for subsequent data
processing. While the last few years have given new high performance instruments, there has not been a comparable development
in data processing. In this paper we discuss an automated data processing pipeline to compare large numbers of fingerprint
spectra from direct infusion experiments analyzed by high resolution MS. We describe some of the intriguing problems that
have to be addressed, starting with the conversion and pre-processing of the raw data to the final data analysis. Illustrated
on the direct infusion analysis (ESI-TOF-MS) of complex mixtures the method exploits the full quality of the high-resolution
present in the mass spectra. Although the method is illustrated as a new library search method for high resolution MS, we
demonstrate that the output of the preprocessing is applicable to cluster-, discriminant analysis, and related multivariate
methods applied directly to mass spectra from direct infusion analysis of crude extracts. This is done to find the relationship

LC-MS/MS analysis on a linear ion trap LTQ mass spectrometer, combined with data processing, stringent, and sequence-similarity database searching tools, was employed in a layered manner to identify proteins in organisms with unsequenced genomes. Highly specific stringent searches (MASCOT) were applied as a first layer screen to identify either known (i.e. present in a database) proteins, or unknown proteins sharing identical peptides with related database sequences. Once the confidently matched spectra were removed, the remainder was filtered against a nonannotated library of background spectra that cleaned up the dataset from spectra of common protein and chemical contaminants. The rectified spectral dataset was further subjected to rapid batch de novo interpretation by PepNovo software, followed by the MS BLAST sequence-similarity search that used multiple redundant and partially accurate candidate peptide sequences. Importantly, a single dataset was acquired at the uncompromised sensitivity with no need of manual selection of MS/MS spectra for subsequent de novo interpretation. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in males worldwide. Mass spectrometry-based targeted proteomics has demonstrated great potential in quantifying proteins from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and (fresh) frozen biopsy tissues. Here we provide a comprehensive tissue-specific spectral library for targeted proteomic analysis of prostate tissue samples. Benign and malignant FFPE prostate tissue samples were processed into peptide samples by pressure cycling technology (PCT)-assisted sample preparation, and fractionated with high-pH reversed phase liquid chromatography (RPLC). Based on data-dependent acquisition (DDA) MS analysis using a TripleTOF 6600, we built a library containing 108,533 precursors, 84,198 peptides and 9384 unique proteins (1% FDR). Genome-scale metabolomics analysis is increasingly used for pathway and function discovery in the post-genomics era. The great potential offered by developed mass spectrometry (MS)-based technologies has been hindered, since only a small portion of detected metabolites were identifiable so far. To address the critical issue of low identification coverage in metabolomics, we adopted a deep metabolomics analysis strategy by integrating advanced algorithms and expanded reference databases. The experimental reference spectra and in silico reference spectra were adopted to facilitate the structural annotation. To further characterize the structure of metabolites, two approaches were incorporated into our strategy, i.e., structural motif search combined with neutral loss scanning and metabolite association network. Untargeted metabolomics analysis was performed on 150 rice cultivars using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole-Orbitrap MS. Consequently, a total of 1939 out of 4491 metabolite features in the MS/MS spectral tag (MS2T) library were annotated, representing an extension of annotation coverage by an order of magnitude in rice. The differential accumulation patterns of flavonoids between indica and japonica cultivars were revealed, especially O-sulfated flavonoids. A series of closely-related flavonolignans were characterized, adding further evidence for the crucial role of tricin-oligolignols in lignification. Our study provides an important protocol for exploring phytochemical diversity in other plant species. 相似文献

该研究在建立贵州省野生苦苣苔科植物名录和地理分布数据库的基础上,对其物种多样性及地理分布格局进行研究。通过文献资料结合实地调查,从物种组成、特有性、水平分布、垂直分布和相似性等方面进行分析,并采用筛除算法确定贵州苦苣苔科植物分布的热点地区。结果表明:(1)贵州省苦苣苔科植物共计2族8亚族28属153种(含种下等级),分布在75个县级行政区,有128/45个中国/贵州特有种,垂直分布以900~1300 m海拔段最为丰富。(2)通过计算省级相似性系数,发现贵州与广西的相似程度最高,最后筛选得到10个热点县,共代表了75%的苦苣苔科植物。(3)贵州省为典型的喀斯特高原山地,苦苣苔科植物种类丰富,尤其是广义马铃苣苔属、广义报春苣苔属、广义石山苣苔属和蛛毛苣苔属等,有着较高的物种多样性和区域特有性。该研究可以为贵州省苦苣苔科植物资源保护和持续利用提供理论参考。 相似文献

Mussels in the order Unionoida comprise ~75% of the world’s freshwater bivalve species and are free-living apart from a brief larval stage that parasitizes fish. We investigated the relationships among species of North American unionid mussels and their known host fishes from a macroevolutionary perspective to test whether and how ecological and evolutionary factors correlate with patterns of host use. A subset of 69 mussel species was chosen based on data availability regarding their fish host repertoires, phylogenetic relationships, and ecology. Despite the brevity of their parasitic life stages, the mussels conformed to the right-skewed distribution of host specificity typical of parasitic taxa, in which most species are specialists and a few are generalists. Phylogenetic least squares regression models identified affinity for low-gradient and riffle habitats, and colonization of post-glacial watersheds as the best predictors for the number of fish host species per mussel. However, the second-best model identified citation number as a predictor of the number of hosts, implying that many mussel–host interactions still remain to be identified. A Multiple Regression Mantel test was performed to identify factors associated with the proportion of hosts shared between pairs of mussel species. Range overlap, citations, genetic distance, and similarity in host infection strategy were significantly correlated with the proportion of hosts shared, yet total variation as explained by the best model was low (R2?=?0.14). There was evidence of a topological association between mussels and their hosts (P?=?0.001) and a significant phylogenetic signal of host specificity (λ?=?0.81, P?=?0.003), indicating closely related mussels that overlap in range are more likely to be competing for hosts. Our results provide an initial macroevolutionary framework for studying the evolution of host infection strategies in these mussels but also highlights gaps still remaining in our fundamental ecological knowledge of this endangered clade. 相似文献
