蚂蚁是地球上最常见的昆虫,也是周口地区土壤动物的优势类群,其种类繁多,种群数量庞大,分布较广,对生态环境的影响十分显著。调查结果显示,在周口地区分布的蚂蚁目前有5亚科18属33种,优势种是铺道蚁Tetramorium caespitum(L.),日本弓背蚁Camponotus japonicus Mayr、上海举腹蚁Crematogaster zoceensis Santschi。不同生境、不同区域分布的蚂蚁有所不同。 相似文献

Jumping spiders (Salticidae) usually avoid ants, but some specieswithin this family single out ants as preferred prey, whileothers (especially the species in the genus Myrmarachne) areBatesian mimics of ants. Field records show that ant-eatingsalticids sometimes prey on Myrmarachne, suggesting that theunwanted attention of predators that specialize on the modelmay be an important, but poorly understood, cost of Batesianmimicry. By staging encounters in the laboratory between livingant-eating salticids and Myrmarachne, we determined that ant-eatingsalticids attack Myrmarachne. However, when Myrmarachne detectsa stalking ant-eating salticid early enough, it adopts a distinctivedisplay posture (legs almost fully extended, elevated 45°,and held out to the side 45°), and this usually deters thepredator. When Myrmarachne detects an ant-eating salticid beforestalking begins, Myrmarachne makes preemptive displays thatappear to inhibit the initiation of stalking. Using immobilelures made from dead Myrmarachne that were either in a displayposture or a nondisplay posture, we ascertained that specificallythe display posture of Myrmarachne deters the initiation ofstalking (ant-eating salticids stalked nondisplaying more oftenthan displaying lures). In another experiment, we ascertainedthat it is specifically the interjection of display posturethat deters stalking. When ant-eating salticids that had alreadybegun stalking experienced lures that switched from a nondisplayto a display posture, they stopped stalking. Although the unwantedattentions of its models' predators may be, for Myrmarachne,a hidden cost of Batesian mimicry, Myrmarachne appears to havean effective defense against these predators. 相似文献

Biological invasions are one of the main causes of biodiversity loss, especially on oceanic islands. Ants are among the most damaging pests in the world. After systematic sampling of more than 1,000 localities in the Canary Islands, six new exotic ant species are reported for the first time: Pheidole bilimeki (Myrmicinae), Pheidole navigans (Myrmicinae), Strumigenys membranifera (Myrmicinae), Brachymyrmex cordemoyi (Formicinae), Tapinoma darioi (Dolichoderinae) and Technomyrmex pallipes (Dolichoderinae). Moreover, another two recently reported species have been genetically confirmed. Morphological and genetic data were analysed to confirm the identity of the new records. For each species, information regarding identification, distribution, global invasive records and possible impacts is given. The arrival of these species may endanger local biodiversity. 相似文献

Queen mating and paternity variation in the ant Lasius niger 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
We have electrophoretically analysed the variation in queen mating and worker paternity across and within seven populations of the ant Lasius niger in northwestern Europe. Populations were panmictic and not genetically differentiated ( F ST = 0.003 ± 0.004; range c. 1000 km). Queens ( n = 535) were shown to mostly mate with a single male, but double mating occurred in all populations and triple mating was found in one case (the total number of worker offspring analysed for paternity was 4825). The genetically effective queen mating frequency was 1.16 on average across populations (range 1.04–1.42). Double sampling of six out of the seven populations showed that most of the variation in queen mating occurred among populations and not within populations among years. Also, paternity skew in colonies with double-mated queens was relatively constant per site but varied across populations. Paternity skew was high in populations with low frequencies of double queen-mating, low in populations with intermediate frequencies of double queen mating and ambiguous in a single population where more than half of the queens mated multiply. Double-mated queens were only collected halfway through a nuptial flight, suggesting that double mating is time consuming and that the mating swarm sex ratio may affect the likelihood of multiple mating towards the end of a flight. No difference in fresh weight between single- and double-mated queens from the same population was found. 相似文献

1. Fire ants naturally invade some undisturbed ecosystems of high conservation value and may negatively impact co‐occurring ants. 2. Over 3 years, fire ants were added and removed from a longleaf pine savanna ecosystem that naturally supports a low density of fire ants. Impacts on co‐occurring ants were monitored using pitfall traps. 3. Treatments resulted in significant differences in average fire ant abundance across all plots only in the first year of the experiment. Fire ants had little discernible impact. The abundance and species richness of co‐occurring ants in removal plots never differed from unmanipulated control plots. The abundance of co‐occurring ants was very slightly lower and ant species richness was slightly higher where Solenopsis invicta Buren colonies were added, but neither contrast was significant. 4. The poor conditions in this habitat for many native ants may explain this outcome. More broadly, the impact of fire ants on ant assemblages still appears to be secondary and largely a consequence of human impacts on the environment. 相似文献

Atta bisphaerica is a species of grass-cutting ants commonly found in the Cerrado biome. The Brazilian Cerrado (savanna) biome covers 2 million km representing 23% of the area of the country. It is an ancient biome with rich biodiversity, estimated at 160,000 species of plants, fungi and animals. However, little is known about their nest architecture development. This study investigated the architecture of fourteen A. bisphaerica nests from Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil. Molds were made of the nests by filling them with cement to allow better visualization of internal structures such as chambers and tunnels. After excavation, the depth and dimensions (length, width, and height) of the chambers were measured. As expected, there was a lateral development in the nests and increase in the number of chambers over time. Results showed that in nests with an estimated age of 14 months, the average depth was 1.6 ± 0.4 m; for those with 18 months it was 2.2 ± 0.7 m and at 28 months it was 2.5 ± 0.7 m. The number of chambers varied from 4 to 7 in 28-month nests, 2 to 4 in 18-month nests, and from 2 to 3 in 14-month nests. With respect to the dimensions of the internal tunnels, there were variations in their average width, increasing with time. The fungus chambers were located beneath the largest mound of loose soil. Summary We examined the relationship between queen number and worker size in colonies of the fire antSolenopsis invicta. Worker size in monogyne colonies was significantly greater than in polygyne colonies; furthermore, polygyne colonies snowed a strong negative linear relationship between queen number and worker size. The influence of leaf epicuticular waxes of nine woody species from cerrado (a savanna ecosystem of Brazil) on the foraging
behavior of the leaf-cutting antAtta sexdens rubropilosa Forel, 1908 (Formicidae, Attini) was investigated. Some waxes showed neither inhibitory nor attractive effect over a series
of tests, while a second group caused a delayed rejection. Waxes of two species were shown to be strongly deterrent to the
ants. Since different waxes caused different responses, it is concluded that their chemical composition, rather than hydrophobicity
or mechanical constraints, accounts for the observed effects. Plant species with leaves rejected by the ants did not necessarily
