Based on circular dichroism (CD) and the sequence-predictive method, the opioid-binding cell adhesion molecule (OBCAM) consisted of one half -sheets and one fourth -helices. This is consistent with significant sequence homology of the protein to several members of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily, particularly cell adhesion molecules, which are rich in -sheets. Hydropathy analysis suggests that hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions were evenly distributed along the sequence, but the NH2- and COOH-termini were hydrophobic. Hydrophobic moments and Fourier-transform amphipathic analyses further suggest that residues 23–30 and 83–93 were amphiphathie -sheets. The overall conformation of OBCAM was unaltered by adding linoleic acid, which is required for opioid ligand binding. 相似文献

Antagonistic potential of Gliocladium virens and Trichoderma longibrachiatum to phytopathogenic fungi 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Three isolates of Gliocladium virens (G1, G2 and G3) and two of Trichoderma longibrachiatum (T1 and T2) were screened against isolates of three soilborne plant pathogens namely Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotium rolfsii and Pythium aphanidermatum. G. virens exhibited stronger hyperparasitism and wider biological spectrum than T. longibrachiatum. Further, similarities as well as variation was observed in the ability of the various isolates to invade the test pathogens in dual culture. For the hyperparasites, acidic pH range (5.0 to 5.5) favoured both growth and spore germination. The hyperparasites made direct contact with the pathogens followed by varied modes of attack invariably leading to cell disruption. Antagonists, G1 and G3 revealed strong antibiosis while T2 showed moderate effect. All the isolates produced enhanced levels of lytic enzymes adaptively and there were marked differences among them. However, no correlation was observed between these attributes and the hyperparasitic potential of the various isolates in dual culture. The relevance and the role of enzymes and toxic metabolite(s) in the antagonism of G. virens and T. longibrachiatum to these pathogens are discussed. 相似文献

Summary The three-dimensional structure of endothelial cells in the hepatic sinusoids of the rat was studied by application of light- and electron microscopy on Golgi-impregnated specimens. A number of endothelial cells could thus be individually delineated throughout the hepatic lobules. The cytoplasm, showing heavy silver deposits, consists of two distinct areas, a thick and thin portion. The thick portion, issuing from the region of the perikaryon, branches and tapers toward the cell periphery. The thin portion, occupying the remainder of the cytoplasm, consists largely of highly fenestrated sieve plates. Some intralobular variation can be noted; the thick portion of the endothelial cells is well developed in the periportal zone, while the cells in the centrilobular zone are relatively rich in thin portions. In addition, the area of distribution of an individual endothelial cell is larger in the centrilobular sinusoids than in the periportal zone. Some endothelial cells also possess unique cytoplasmic processes projecting into the intercellular space between hepatocytes and connecting the sinusoidal walls of neighboring sinusoids. The Lindero membranaceae-Fagetum crenatae association on Mt. Sanpoiwadake, Hakusan National Park, Japan, has been classified
using traditional Braun-Blanquet methods. The association was floristically sub-divided into six communities, all of which
had been included as four subassociations by Hukusima (1982). The resulting table was compared with an analogous community
table derived using computer-based TWINSPAN analysis. This dual approach was shown to provide a fully objective classification
by method, the subjective element in the Braun-Blanquet method thus being substantiated TWINSPAN. Subsequent ordination of
the data using DCA then provided a further degree of objective evaluation allowing any misclassified stand or species to be

Deux souches du sérovarkenyae et une autre du sérovartolworthi provoquent le plus de mortalité, suivies par les souches des sérovarsaizawai etkurstaki. Les souches les moins actives appartiennent aux sérotypesalesti, dendrolimus, sotto etcolmeri. L'action des souches sur le développement larvaire a aussi été abordée. Les souches des sérovarskenyae, aizawai etkurstaki ont ralenti le développement des chenilles, tandis que les souches des sérovarsalesti, sotto etcolmeri n'ont eu aucun effet.

In Japan, histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis (Kikuchi’s disease) is a relatively common reactive lesion affecting lymph
nodes, but the histogenesis and pathogenesis of the disease have not been clarified. Alpha-interferon has a role in the body’s
defense against, viral infections. Using a polyclonal antibody to human alpha-interferon, we found numerous cells, mainly
histiocytes, containing alpha-interferon in affected foci in the lymph nodes from 24 patients with Kikuchi’s disease. Tubuloreticular
structures, thought by some authors to be associated with the production of interferon, were detected by electron microscopy
in histiocytes, activated lymphocytes and vascular endothelial cells in the affected foci. These results suggested that the
formation of tubuloreticular structures is a secondary phenomenon following stimulation by alpha-interferon. Further, the
activity of 2′–5′ oligoadenylate synthetase, which is induced by alpha-interferon and enhanced during the early or active
stage of viral infection, showed increased levels of activity in the active stage of Kikuchi’s disease and decreased to normal
levels in the convalescent stage 2 weeks later. These results suggested the possibility of a viral etiology for Kikuchi’s

Commonly used minirhizotrons consisting of a transparent tube inserted into the soil seldom attain good contact between the tube and the soil, which leads to root growth occurring in a gap rather than in the soil. A new system is described involving an inflatable flexible rubber wall, made from a modified motorcycle tube. Pressure ensures a proper tube/soil contact so that the environmental circumstances for root growth along the tube more closely correspond to those in the undisturbed soil. Before the endoscope slide is introduced into the minirhizotron for taking pictures, the inflatable tube is removed, so that there is no-often opaque-wall between the endoscope and the roots. This improves the picture quality and facilitates the analysis of root images. 相似文献
