Investigation of the enantioselectivity and enantiomeric elution order of some piperidine-2,6-dione drugs on chiralcel OD column

The enantioselectivity and enantiomeric separation of five racemic piperidine-2,6-dione compounds, on the cellulose tris(3,5-dimethylphenyl carbamate) chiral stationary phase Chiralcel OD-CSP were investigated under the same chromatographic conditions. This class of drugs includes glutethimide, aminoglutethimide, cyclohexylaminoglutethimide, pyridoglutethimide, and phenglutarimide. The results revealed that chiral recognition and the binding sites of these drugs on the Chiralcel OD column are similar, regardless of the absolute configuration of the individual enantiomers. A possible chiral recognition mechanism(s) for this class of drugs and the CSP is presented. © 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.     

Production of mouse monoclonal antibodies using a continuous cell culture fermenter and protein G affinity chromatography

The production of anti--fetoprotein monoclonal antibodies for diagnostic use was carried out in a stirred tank fermenter equipped with a double membrane stirrer for bubble free aeration and continuous medium perfusion. A serum-free medium supplemented with 4 mM L-glutamine and 2.0 g/l glucose with a protein content of only 780 g/ml was used for the production process. The harvested antibodies were concentrated 50-fold using a tangential ultrafiltration system and were then purified in a one step purification process by protein G affinity chromatography. The purity of the final product (90%) was controlled by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, gel exclusion chromatography and isoelectric focussing. For further quality controls of the product the immunoglobulin subclass and the isoelectric point were determined and the specificity of the purified mAb was tested by RIA using¹²⁵I labelled -fetoprotein.1.87 g of purified monoclonal antibodies were produced (90% purity) within 2 weeks. 利用液相氧电极研究了暗处理、光强、ＣＯ２水平、缺钾和干旱对玉米叶切块光诱导的影响。发现长时间的暗处理、高光强、低ＣＯ２浓度、缺钾和干旱均使光合诱导期拉长。影响光合诱导期的外界逆境如低ＣＯ２浓度、缺钾和干旱也使玉米叶片的净光合速率下降,并对这些结果产生的原因作了分析。     

运动结构背景对视觉系统神经元反应的调制作用

对蟾蜍的５６个视顶盖神经元的视觉反应进行了定量考察和分析,发现它们不仅对黑目标起反应,也对结构目标起反应．同相运动的结构背景使５３．５％的神经元的反应完全抑制,而异相运动则只有１０％的神经元完全被抑制,却有２１．６％的神经元反应增强．遮盖感受野（ＲＦ）中心区,则同相运动使某些细胞脱抑制,而异相运动使其抑制强度稍有增强．遮盖ＲＦ的外周区,几乎全部研究过的神经元对结构背景运动本身也起反应。本研究还发现,如果预先将一目标放在兴奋性感受野（ＥＲＦ）中央静止不动,并使结构背景在水平方向匀速移动较长时间后突然停止运动,则被研究过的６６个视盖神经元中有２９个发放一串脉冲,即神经元的运动后放电．各个神经细胞放电的脉冲多寡不一。若在ＥＲＦ中央不放置静止目标,仅是结构背景的水平运动不能诱发放电．此效应的出现,既与目标背景间反差符号（即目标为白色或黑色）无关,也与背景的运动方向无关。为诱发这一效应,不仅要求背景运动时间较长（至少在２０秒以上）,而且目标的面积要有足够大。

Myosin light chain kinase expression during smooth muscle development

The expression of smooth muscle myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) was investigated during chicken gizzard development. The molecular weight and the antigenic properties of MLCK did not change during development. The use of anion exchange high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) enabled us to distinguish between MLCKs from post-hatched and adult chickens. A partial amino acid sequence determination of 4-day-old gizzard MLCK failed to disclose differences in the primary sequences of the two proteins. The results suggest that MLCK has the same primary sequence in all sequences of the two proteins. The results suggest that MLCK has the same primary sequence in all stages of gizzard development, although charge variants due to post-translational modifications may exist.     

Evaluation of health risks from a buried mass of diesel fuel before and after bioremediation

Plans are being formulated for in situ bioremediation of a subsurface plume of diesel fuel No. 2 that resulted from an accidental fuel release. Raoult's law and the aqueous solubilities of the toxic components were used to estimate organic contaminant concentrations in leachate from the untreated fuel mass. Carcinogenic risks and noncarcinogenic hazard indices were calculated for undiluted leachate. An 80% decrease in hydrocarbon mass and increases in the average molecular weights of the component fractions were assumed to result from the treatment. Sample calculations are provided to show how to evaluate results of analyses for petroleum hydrocarbons after bioremediation.

霍乱流行史上,七次世界性大流行都是由Ｏ１群霍乱弧菌所引起,但从１９９２年１０月至１９９３年４月,印度次大陆却爆发了由非－Ｏ１霍乱弧菌Ｏ（１３９）血清型引起的霍乱样病大流行,印度及孟加拉相继报道了引起全国流行的霍乱样急性腹泻。从流行区病人分离的菌株不被Ｏ１群霍乱弧菌抗血清所凝集,也不被已知的１３７个血清型非－Ｏ１霍乱弧菌抗血清所凝集,因此将这一引起霍乱样病的非－Ｏ１霍乱弧菌定名为Ｏ（１３９）。本文就引起霍乱样病流行的Ｏ（１３９）霍乱弧菌的来源,本次流行概况,流行特点,Ｏ（１３９）流行株的特性及流行预测做一简要概述以提醒国内霍乱流行病学工作者的重视,对这一霍乱新菌型有所认识,密切监视Ｏ（１３９）菌型的流行动态及传播趋势,做好应有的防疫工作。     

超声波和相转移催化下的Reimer—Tiemann反应

本文研究了超声波和相转移催化剂在Ｒｅｉｍｅｒ—Ｔｉｅｍａｎｎ反应中的应用,提出了超声波和相转移催化下Ｒｅｉｍｅｒ—Ｔｉｅｍａｎｎ反应的机理。研究结果表明：在超声波和相转移催化剂的共同作用下,二氯卡宾形成十分迅速,羟基苯甲醛产率显著提高,反应时间成倍缩短。
