In the wing disks of Drosophila slowly dividing cells of Minute mutations are progressively eliminated from Minute/Minute+ mosaic compartments by a process known as cell competition. From a study of two different Minutes we show here that the intensity of competition is greater in the more extreme Minute with the slowest rate of cell division. The way in which the more rapidly growing Minute+ clones grow and overcome the surrounding Minute cells is described and cell competition is shown to be a result of local interactions between slow- and faster-growing cells. 相似文献

Grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idellus (Valenciennes, 1844), is an economically important species widely cultured in the world, but its genome research resources are largely lacking. The objectives of this study were to construct normalized cDNA libraries for efficient EST analysis, to generate ESTs from these libraries, and to identify EST-related molecular markers such as microsatellites and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) for genetic analysis of this species. A total of 6,269 ESTs were generated representing 4,815 unique sequences, from which 105 putative microsatellites and 5,228 SNPs were identified. 应用自制复合菌剂M5于红螯螯虾(Cherax quadricarinatus)的高密度养殖系统中,通过分析肠道菌群并监测养殖水质,研究了复合菌剂作用的效果及潜在的机理。结果显示,复合菌剂M5的使用可显著降低养殖水环境的pH值,降低污染物NH+4、NO-2和COD的浓度,抑制弧菌属(Vibrio)中某些条件致病菌的生长。基于PICRUSt与KEGG数据库的功能预测及肠道菌群的群落分析,复合菌剂既可作为额外的营养补充物,缓解肠道群落之间对营养源的竞争,又可提高虾的消化能力、免疫力。新型复合菌剂M5可显著改善养殖水质并影响肠道菌群的组成与功能,从而提高养殖存活率。 相似文献

Five principle monoterpenoid and other constituent volatile chemicals of sunflower heads were combined to resemble two lines of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.): one U.S.D.A. standard line and one French line which was poorly visited by insects (Etievant et al., 1984). Field trials of attraction to red sunflower seed weevils (Smicronyx fulvus Le Conte, Coleoptera: Curculionidae) showed that one was clearly preferred over the other. The more attractive mixture contained -pinene, -pinene, limonene, camphene and bornyl acetate in a ratio resembling that of Flath et al. (1985) rather than that described by Etievant et al. (1984). One or two volatiles were deleted from the optimal blend but only mixtures of five volatiles showed the highest attraction. Substitution of sabinene, another volatile prominent in sunflower, for one of the five in the optimal blend also decreased attraction of seed weevils. When the monoterpenoid components and green leaf volatiles in the traps resembled the ratios of most of the prominent volatiles of sunflower, attraction was significantly greater than controls. 相似文献
