Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a novel betacoronavirus, caused a pandemic leading to a standstill of nearly all global activities. There are some controversies on the production of specific immunoglobulin M (IgM) and IgG antibodies after the infection with SARS-CoV-2. Available clinical methods for heart failure (HF) diagnosis are expensive and require a high-level of experts intervention. Recently, various machine learning models have been developed for the prediction of HF where most of them have an issue of over-fitting. Over-fitting occurs when machine learning based predictive models show better performance on the training data yet demonstrate a poor performance on the testing data and the other way around. Developing a machine learning model which is able to produce generalization capabilities (such that the model exhibits better performance on both the training and the testing data sets) could overall minimize the prediction errors. Hence, such prediction models could potentially be helpful to cardiologists for the effective diagnose of HF. This paper proposes a two-stage decision support system to overcome the over-fitting issue and to optimize the generalization factor. The first stage uses a mutual information based statistical model while the second stage uses a neural network. We applied our approach to the HF subset of publicly available Cleveland heart disease database. Our experimental results show that the proposed decision support system has optimized the generalization capabilities and has reduced the mean percent error (MPE) to 8.8% which is significantly less than the recently published studies. In addition, our model exhibits a 93.33% accuracy rate which is higher than twenty eight recently developed HF risk prediction models that achieved accuracy in the range of 57.85% to 92.31%. Microorganisms are famous for adapting quickly to new environments. However, most evidence for rapid microbial adaptation comes from laboratory experiments or domesticated environments, and it is unclear how rates of adaptation scale from human‐influenced environments to the great diversity of wild microorganisms. We examined potential monthly‐scale selective pressures in the model forest yeast Saccharomyces paradoxus. Contrary to expectations of seasonal adaptation, the S. paradoxus population was stable over four seasons in the face of abiotic and biotic environmental changes. While the S. paradoxus population was diverse, including 41 unique genotypes among 192 sampled isolates, there was no correlation between S. paradoxus genotypes and seasonal environments. Consistent with observations from other S. paradoxus populations, the forest population was highly clonal and inbred. This lack of recombination, paired with population stability, implies that selection is not acting on the forest S. paradoxus population on a seasonal timescale. Saccharomyces paradoxus may instead have evolved generalism or phenotypic plasticity with regard to seasonal environmental changes long ago. Similarly, while the forest population included diversity among phenotypes related to intraspecific interference competition, there was no evidence for active coevolution among these phenotypes. At least ten percent of the forest S. paradoxus individuals produced “killer toxins,” which kill sensitive Saccharomyces cells, but the presence of a toxin‐producing isolate did not predict resistance to the toxin among nearby isolates. How forest yeasts acclimate to changing environments remains an open question, and future studies should investigate the physiological responses that allow microbial cells to cope with environmental fluctuations in their native habitats. 相似文献

The ability to add or delete specific genes in swine will likely provide considerable benefits not just to agriculture but also to medicine, where pigs have potential as models for human disease and as organ donors. Here we have transferred nuclei from a genetically modified fibroblast cell line to porcine oocytes, matured in vitro under defined culture conditions, to create piglets expressing enhanced green fluorescent protein. The nuclear transfer-derived piglets were of normal size, although some mild symptoms of “large offspring syndrome” were evident. Objective: The objective of this study was to fabricate a successful implant for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder patients who could not be treated through conventional surgeries. Methods: A custom-made implant was fabricated using rapid prototyping (RP) for the TMJ surgery. The stability of the metallic implant was validated using a finite element analysis. Results: The results of finite elements were stable and the design of the TMJ implant was suitable as per the patient's need. The customised implant was made using a fused deposition modelling method of RP and a vertical machining centre. The implant has provided normal jaw function for over 2 years since surgery. Conclusions: The approach utilised will be helpful in providing successful treatment to the deformed mandible and the mandible joints. This method allows to customise and to accurately fabricatie the implant. Advantages of this approach are that the physical model of the implant was tested for stability before the implantation, the surgeon can plan and rehearse the surgery in advance, it is a less invasive and less time-consuming surgical procedure. 相似文献

AbstractA series of lipophilic ester derivatives (2a–g) of (S)-1-(pent-4′-enoyl)-4-(hydroxymethyl)-azetidin-2-one has been synthesised in three steps from (S)-4-(benzyloxycarbonyl)-azetidin-2-one and evaluated as novel, reversible, β-lactamic inhibitors of endocannabinoid-degrading enzymes (human fatty acid amide hydrolase (hFAAH) and monoacylglycerol lipase (hMAGL)). The compounds showed IC50 values in the micromolar range and selectivity for hFAAH versus hMAGL. The unexpected 1000-fold decrease in activity of 2a comparatively to the known regioisomeric structure 1a (i.e. lipophilic chains placed on N1 and C3 positions of the β-lactam core) could be explained on the basis of docking studies into a revisited model of hFAAH active site, considering one or two water molecules in interaction with the catalytic triad. 相似文献

We developed a bispyrene-conjugated 2 ′-O-methyloligoribonucleotide as an RNA-specific RNA-probe. The probe hybridized with the complementary RNA, greatly enhancing fluorescence and discriminating RNA from DNA. The assay was carried out in homogeneous aqueous media without removing the unbound probe from the detection solution.
