The genusGeitleria (Cyanophyceae orCyanobacteria): Distribution ofG. calcarea andG. floridana n. sp.

The calcifying cave inhabitant atmophytic blue-green algaGeitleria calcarea is reported from new localities in Florida and in the Cook Islands.—G. floridana n. sp., is described from caves in Florida. The calcified sheath has the shape of a quadratic prism and is built of crystalline acicular subunits about 0.1 µm in diameter. The subunits mostly form a rhombic lattice pattern but in some cases, they are not distinguishable and then the surface of the sheath is smooth.This paper is dedicated with gratitude to my former teacher, Prof. Dr.Lothar Geitler, for his 80th birthday.     

Some physiological observations on the uptake of d-glucose and 2-deoxy-d-glucose by starving and exponentially-growing yeasts

Some methods for measuring the uptake of sugars by yeasts were investigated critically. A study was made of the effects of starvation of Pichia pinus, Candida utilis, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Rhodosporidium toruloides on their uptake of d-glucose and 2-deoxy-d-glucose. Marked changes in the rates of uptake of these sugars occurred during 10 h of starvation, including (a) an immediate increase of up to 75% above that for growing cells and (b) a continuous decline to as little as 4%. Each yeast behaved differently. The rates did not remain constant during the periods of starvation often used for studies on the transport of sugars into yeasts. For Pichia pinus, there were striking differences, associated with starvation, between the transport of 2-deoxy-d-glucose and d-glucose, despite evidence that the two sugars enter this yeast by means of the same carrier. Some physiological explanations for these findings are discussed.     

Some physiological functions of the L-leucine dehydrogenase in Bacillus subtilis

Mutants of Bacillus subtilis constitutive for L-leucine dehydrogenase synthesis were selected. Using these mutants we could determine two functional roles for the L-leucine dehydrogenase. This enzyme liberates ammonium ions from branched chain amino acids when supplied as the sole nitrogen source. Another function is to synthesize from L-isoleucine, L-leucine, and L-valine the branched chain -keto acids which are precursors of branched chain fatty acid biosynthesis. These results together with the inducibility of the enzyme suggest that the L-leucine dehydrogenase has primarily a catabolic rather than an anabolic function in the metabolism of Bacillus subtilis.     

Über zwei diploide,in Südwest-Anatolien endemische Arten aus dem Komplex derVeronica cymbalaria (Scrophulariaceae)

Veronica lycica Lehm. is a distinct, diploid member of theVeronica cymbalaria group, endemic in Lycia (S.W. Anatolia). Closely related is the newV. stamatiadae M. Fischer etW. Greuter which is also diploid and seems to be restricted to the small Greek island Ro close to the South coast of Lycia. The chromosome numbers for both species are reported for the first time (2n = 18).

以环境育人为理念的本科教学实验室管理模式探讨

本科教学实验室是开展本科生实验教学的主要场所,如何通过实验室的管理有效提升学生实验素养值得探索。文中主要介绍了将“6S (整理 (Seiri)、整顿 (Seiton)、清扫 (Seiso)、清洁 (Seiketsu)、素养 (Shitsuke)、安全 (Safety) 六项要素) 管理”理念引入本科教学实验室管理的应用实践与效果,特别是实验室环境管理、实验室安全管理、物品定位管理、试剂和耗材管理、学生培训和考核等方面的具体做法。通过实施“6S管理”,实验室环境得以改善,学生的实验素养得到提高,本科实验教学的质量得到改善和提高,达到环境育人的目的。这为高校教学实验室的建设和有效管理提供可推广、可操作的经验。     

疫情常态化下“发酵工程”线上线下混合式教学模式的改革与探索

新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情防控常态化下,线上线下混合式教学成为了许多高校课程采用的新型教学模式。本课程团队以学生为中心,结合传统教学法（Lecture-Based Learning,LBL）和慕课教学的优点,重新构建了“发酵工程”课程的教学过程,对课程的教学目标、教学要求、教学章节、教学考核、教学方法等进行了一系列的改革探索,并尝试了线上翻转课堂和课程思政融入课堂的教学模式,学生自主学习的积极性得以提高,促进、提升了课程的教与学效果。     

基于“抗疫精神”的“基因工程”课程思政教学设计与实践

课程思政是当前高校落实“立德树人”根本任务的重要形式。在抗击新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情中,中华民族同舟共济、守望相助,共同铸就了伟大的抗疫精神,为课程思政教学提供了最生动的元素。本文对“战疫”行动中的抗疫精神进行梳理和总结,将其内涵凝练为5项内容;以新型冠状病毒的“核酸检测、疫苗研制及其变异”中蕴含的“抗疫精神”为思政载体,甄选“基因工程”课程中对应的理论内容,开展聚焦抗疫精神的“基因工程”课程思政教学设计与实践研究,利用问卷法和深度访谈法对教学实施效果进行评价,旨在引导学生在学习专业理论知识的同时,感悟课程内容中蕴含的抗疫精神,并将其内化为价值追求,潜移默化中提升学生的思想意识和道德修养,同时为生物类其他专业课程思政教学提供参考和借鉴。     

转变教育理念，强化实践环节，提高微生物学教学质量

微生物学是一门研究微生物的生命活动规律及其应用技术的学科。为了使不同学科背景和不同发展愿景的学生在有限的课时内能深入领会微生物学知识、掌握实验技能、增加对社会热点问题的理解,浙江大学从2013年开始对微生物学课程进行了改革。通过转变教学理念、融入课程思政、强化实验技能、重视评价导向等手段,使微生物学课程的教学质量有了明显的提升。     

新形势下多元化板书在高校教学中的运用：以生物化学课程为例

板书担负着知识传递和课堂文化传承的双重任务。设计良好的板书不仅有助于学生对知识的记忆、理解和建构,还有助于打造严肃活泼的课堂氛围、塑造立德树人的课堂灵魂、促进教学反思和提升育人质量。笔者以板书教学在生物化学课程中的实践为例,按照针对学生要实现的教学目标,对板书进行了分类,分别介绍了每类板书在多媒体时代的必要性和适用范围,以期使板书这一传统教学形式在新时代课堂教学中发挥其重要作用。
