Background. In idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDC) an imbalance between myocardial oxygen consumption and supply has been postulated. Subclinical myocardial ischaemia may contribute to progressive deterioration of left ventricular function. The relation between regional myocardial perfusion reserve (MPR) and contractile performance was investigated. Methods. Patients with newly diagnosed IDC underwent positron emission tomography (PET) scanning using both 13N-ammonia as a perfusion tracer (baseline and dypiridamole stress), and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose viability tracer and a dobutamine stress MRI. MPR (assessed by PET) as well as wall motion score (WMS, assessed by MRI) were evaluated in a 17-segment model. Results. Twenty-two patients were included (age 49±11 years; 15 males, LVEF 33±10%). With MRI, a total of 305 segments could be analysed. Wall motion abnormalities at rest were present in 127 (35.5%) segments and in 103 (29.9%) during dobutamine stress. Twenty-one segments deteriorated during stress and 43 improved. MPR was significantly higher in those segments that improved, compared with those that did not change or were impaired during stress (1.87±0.04 vs. 1.56± 0.07 p<0.01.) Conclusion. Signs of regional ischaemia were clearly present in IDC patients. Ischaemic regions displayed impaired contractility during stress. PurposeA novel fast kilovoltage switching dual-energy CT with deep learning [Deep learning based-spectral CT (DL-Spectral CT)], which generates a complete sinogram for each kilovolt using deep learning views that complement the measured views at each energy, was commercialized in 2020. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of CT numbers in virtual monochromatic images (VMIs) and iodine quantifications at various radiation doses using DL-Spectral CT.Materials and methodsTwo multi-energy phantoms (large and small) using several rods representing different materials (iodine, calcium, blood, and adipose) were scanned by DL-Spectral CT at varying radiation doses. Images were reconstructed using three reconstruction parameters (body, lung, bone). The absolute percentage errors (APEs) for CT numbers on VMIs at 50, 70, and 100 keV and iodine quantification were compared among different radiation dose protocols.ResultsThe APEs of the CT numbers on VMIs were <15% in both the large and small phantoms, except at the minimum dose in the large phantom. There were no significant differences among radiation dose protocols in computed tomography dose index volumes of 12.3 mGy or larger. The accuracy of iodine quantification provided by the body parameter was significantly better than those obtained with the lung and bone parameters. Increasing the radiation dose did not always improve the accuracy of iodine quantification, regardless of the reconstruction parameter and phantom size.ConclusionThe accuracy of iodine quantification and CT numbers on VMIs in DL-Spectral CT was not affected by the radiation dose, except for an extremely low radiation dose for body size.  相似文献

The Seine River estuary (France) is the receptacle of a drainage basin characterised by high population density, heavy industrial activity and intensive agriculture. Whereas nitrate concentrations are high due to diffuse sources in the upstream drainage basin, ammonium mainly originates from the effluents of the Achères wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) downstream from Paris and its suburbs (6.5 million equivalent-inhabitants). Ammonium is mostly nitrified in the tidal freshwater estuary and nitrification causes a strong summer oxygen deficit. Average longitudinal summer profiles of oxygen and nitrogen concentrations for two periods, between 1993–1997 and 1998–2003 in dry hydrological conditions (excluding the wet years 2000 and 2001) clearly reflect the changes due to the improved treatment of wastewater from Paris and its suburbs. On the basis of daily water flux data and twice monthly nitrogen measurements at the boundaries of the upstream freshwater estuarine section (108 km), we calculated nitrification and denitrification fluxes, whose annual averages were 43 and 71 × 103 kg N d−1 respectively from 1993 to 2003, with summer values (July–September) representing 73 and 57% of the annual fluxes, respectively. The degree of denitrification in the upper estuary appears to be closely related to the nitrification, itself more loosely related to the amount of reduced nitrogen (Kjeldahl) brought by the treated effluents from the Achères WWTP. We estimated the total N2O emissions to about 40 kg N d−1 (25–60 kg N d−1) in the same sector.  相似文献

Objective: To examine the independent associations of abdominal fat (visceral and subcutaneous) and liver fat with all‐cause mortality. Research Methods and Procedures: Participants included 291 men [97 decedents and 194 controls; mean age, 56.4 ± 12.0 (SD) years] who received a computed tomography (CT) examination at the preventive medicine clinic in Dallas, TX, between 1995 and 1999, with a mean mortality follow‐up of 2.2 ± 1.3 years. Abdominal fat was determined using contiguous CT images from the L3‐L4 to L4‐L5 intervertebral space. Liver fat was assessed using the CT‐determined liver attenuation value, which is inversely related to liver fat. Logistic regression was used to determine the independent association between the fat depots and all‐cause mortality. Results: During the study, there were 97 deaths. Visceral fat [odds ratio (OR) per SD: 1.83; 95% CI: 1.23 to 2.73], abdominal subcutaneous fat (1.44; 1.02 to 2.03), liver fat (0.64; 0.46 to 0.87), and waist circumference (1.41; 1.01 to 1.98) were significant individual predictors of mortality after controlling for age and length of follow‐up. In a model including all three fat measures (subcutaneous, visceral, and liver fat), age, and length of follow‐up, only visceral fat (1.93; 1.15 to 3.23) was a significant predictor of mortality. Discussion: Visceral fat is a strong, independent predictor of all‐cause mortality in men.  相似文献

Background and Aims

Isoprene is the most important volatile organic compound emitted by land plants in terms of abundance and environmental effects. Controls on isoprene emission rates include light, temperature, water supply and CO2 concentration. A need to quantify these controls has long been recognized. There are already models that give realistic results, but they are complex, highly empirical and require separate responses to different drivers. This study sets out to find a simpler, unifying principle.

Methods

A simple model is presented based on the idea of balancing demands for reducing power (derived from photosynthetic electron transport) in primary metabolism versus the secondary pathway that leads to the synthesis of isoprene. This model''s ability to account for key features in a variety of experimental data sets is assessed.

Key results

The model simultaneously predicts the fundamental responses observed in short-term experiments, namely: (1) the decoupling between carbon assimilation and isoprene emission; (2) a continued increase in isoprene emission with photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) at high PAR, after carbon assimilation has saturated; (3) a maximum of isoprene emission at low internal CO2 concentration (ci) and an asymptotic decline thereafter with increasing ci; (4) maintenance of high isoprene emissions when carbon assimilation is restricted by drought; and (5) a temperature optimum higher than that of photosynthesis, but lower than that of isoprene synthase activity.

Conclusions

A simple model was used to test the hypothesis that reducing power available to the synthesis pathway for isoprene varies according to the extent to which the needs of carbon assimilation are satisfied. Despite its simplicity the model explains much in terms of the observed response of isoprene to external drivers as well as the observed decoupling between carbon assimilation and isoprene emission. The concept has the potential to improve global-scale modelling of vegetation isoprene emission.  相似文献

目的:研究光学相干断层成像术(OCT)在近视眼视网膜神经纤维层(RNFL)厚度测量中的应用价值。方法:选择2016年1月到2016年5月在医院就诊的近视患者73例(138眼)纳入此次研究,根据近视情况将患者分为低度近视组(-0.30D~-3.00D)共26例(48眼)、中度近视组(-3.01~-6.00D)共24例(47眼)及高度近视组(-6.00D)共23例(43眼)。另选同期在医院体检(视力正常)的健康志愿者25例(45眼)作为对照组,对比各组不同象限的RNFL厚度,屈光度及眼轴长度,分析近视眼各象限的RNFL厚度与患者屈光度和眼轴长度的相关性。结果:高度近视组的上方象限、下方象限以及鼻侧象限的RNFL厚度均明显低于对照组及中度近视组,中度近视组的下方象限及鼻侧象限的RNFL厚度均明显低于对照组,低度近视组鼻侧象限的RNFL厚度明显低于对照组,差异均有统计学意义(均P0.05)。近视组的屈光度及眼轴长度均明显大于对照组,且高度近视组均明显大于中度近视组与低度近视组,中度近视组均明显大于低度近视组,差异均有统计学意义(均P0.05)。根据Pearson法分析相关性可知,近视眼患者上象限、下象限、鼻侧象限的RNFL厚度与其屈光度及眼轴长度均呈负相关。结论:利用OCT技术检测近视眼RNFL厚度时,应考虑屈光度及眼轴长度可能造成的影响,综合进行分析判断,以获得最佳检测数值。  相似文献

Nanocrystalline SrS phosphors doped with Ce3+ ions at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 mol%) are synthesized via the solid‐state diffusion method (SSDM), which is suitable for the large‐scale production of phosphors in industrial applications. The as‐prepared samples are characterized using an X‐ray diffraction (XRD) technique, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and energy‐dispersive X‐ray (EDX) analysis. The optical properties of these phosphors are analyzed using reflectance spectra, photoluminescence spectra and afterglow decay curves. The cubic structure of the SrS phosphor is confirmed by XRD analysis and the crystallite size calculated by Scherer's formula using XRD data shows the nanocrystalline nature of the phosphors. No phase change is observed with increasing concentrations of Ce3+ ions. The surface morphology of the prepared phosphors is determined by FESEM, which shows a sphere‐like structure and good connectivity of the grains. The authenticity of the formation of nanocrystalline phosphors is examined by HRTEM analysis. Elemental compositional information for the prepared phosphors is gathered by EDX analysis. Photoluminescence studies reveal that the emission spectra of the prepared phosphor shows broad band emission centered at 458 and 550 nm due to the transition of electrons from the 5d → 4f energy levels. The afterglow decay characteristics of different as‐synthesized SrS:Ce3+ nanophosphors are conceptually described. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
