Linear double-stranded DNA molecules interact with positively charged polyconidine molecules in aqueous salt solutions to yield liquid-crystalline dispersions (LCDs) with a mean particle diameter of ~6000 Å. The packing density of (DNA-polycation) complexes differs among LCD particles formed at different ionic strengths. X-ray data on the liquid-crystalline phases of (DNA-polyconidine) complexes formed under different conditions were compared with a phase diagram, reflecting polymorphism of liquid crystals of linear double-stranded DNA. It was shown that LCD was hexagonal at 0.15 M ≤ C NaCl < 0.4 M and cholesteric at 0.4 M ≤ C NaCl < 0.55 M. Cholesteric LCD displayed abnormal optical activity in the circular dichroism spectrum. A similar situation was observed with poly(2,5-ionene), another polycation differing in chemical structure from polyconidine. The results demonstrated structural polymorphism of (DNA-polycation) LCDs. It was assumed that the packing mode of (DNA-polycation) complexes in LCD particles can be regulated by changing NaCl concentration. The mechanism generating the cholesteric liquid-crystalline state of DNA in a narrow range of NaCl concentrations is discussed.  相似文献

Floral microcharacters of the genus Chrysolaena H. Rob. (Vernonieae, Asteraceae) were analysed in detail for the first time in order to evaluate the taxonomic position of conflictive species in the group. The results were also compared with studies carried out in species of related genera. In addition to distinctive microcharacters previously studied in some species of the genus, other characters such as trichome types of the corolla, style, anthers and cypselae have been analysed for the first time. The presence of glandular apical appendage and cypselae are common characteristics among species Chrysolaena. In addition to these, this study shows that presence of glands on the style and corollas is another consistent characteristic in the genus. However, the absence of basal stylar node would not be a diagnostic character since this varies widely among species. The results indicate that most of the microcharacters of Chrysolaena analysed are quite consistent in the genus, but they are no more consistent than the pollen morphology (type 'C') and chromosome base number (x = 10). Until now, these last two features would be most useful for separating Chrysolaena from the related genera Lessingianthus and Lepidaploa. At species level, the results show that related species can be distinguished by the different combinations of floral microcharacters. The value of microcharacters could be increased if they are combined with other morphological, cytological, and palynological data.  相似文献

We studied leaf anatomy, using clearings, resin sections, and scanning electron microscopy, from mostly herbarium specimens of 123 species ofDombeya and 11 species ofNesogordonia (Sterculiaceae). Species were placed in seven idioblast categories, ranging from those without any to single and bicelled epidermal forms to multicelled nodules and single mesophyll idioblasts. Idioblast contents are possibly mucilaginous, but were not identified. In these two genera the range of foliar idioblast morphology surpasses that known previously for the entire family. Leaves are dorsiventral with mostly abaxial anomocytic stomata and typical palisade and spongy layers; paraveinal mesophyll is lacking. Miniature glandular (clavates, capitates) and nonglandular (mostly stellate) trichomes occur. Prismatic crystals predominate; epidermal prismatics and mesophyll druses are rare.  相似文献

In this study, a easy-to-prepare biosensor for the sensitive detection of the antibody (Ab) protein was developed using a novel microgel photonic crystal (MPC). The MPC was fabricated by the spin-coated self-assembly method with the monodisperse Ab-sensitive poly (methyl methacrylate-acrylamide-glutaraldehyde-hapten) (P(MMA-AM-GA-HP)) microgels. Morphology characterization showed that the P(MMA-AM-GA-HP) microgels possessed round shapes and the large specific surface area, and the formed MPC had a highly ordered three dimensional (3D) periodically-ordered structure with the desired structural color. The Ab-response event of the P(MMA-AM-GA-HP) microgels can be directly transferred into a readable optical signal through a change in Bragg reflection of the periodic structure of the MPC. With the sensory system, the sensitive and selective detection of Ab was achieved without labeling techniques and expensive instruments. Therefore, this easy and sensitive detection system has great potential for next generation of the bioassay platform for clinical diagnosis and other applications.  相似文献

The role of vacancy defects is demonstrated to be positive in various energy‐related processes. However, introducing vacancy defects into single‐crystalline nanostructures with given facets and studying their defect effect on electrocatalytic properties remains a great challenge. Here this study deliberately introduces oxygen defects into single‐crystalline ultrathin Co3O4 nanosheets with O‐terminated {111} facets by mild solvothermal reduction using ethylene glycol under alkaline condition. As‐prepared defect‐rich Co3O4 nanosheets show a low overpotential of 220 mV with a small Tafel slope of 49.1 mV dec?1 for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), which is among the best Co‐based OER catalysts to date and even more active than the state‐of‐the‐art IrO2 catalyst. Such vacancy defects are formed by balancing with reducing environments under solvothermal conditions, but are surprisingly stable even after 1000 cycles of scanning under OER working conditions. Density functional theory plus U calculation attributes the enhanced performance to the oxygen vacancies and consequently exposed second‐layered Co metal sites, which leads to the lowered OER activation energy of 2.26 eV and improved electrical conductivity. This mild solvothermal reduction concept opens a new door for the understanding and future designing of advanced defect‐based electrocatalysts.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate an ultra‐sensitive immunoassay biosensor using diatom biosilica with self‐assembled plasmonic nanoparticles. As the nature‐created photonic crystal structures, diatoms have been adopted to enhance surface plasmon resonances of metal nanoparticles on the surfaces of diatom frustules and to increase the sensitivity of surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). In this study, a sandwich SERS immunoassay is developed based on the hybrid plasmonic‐biosilica nanostructured materials that are functionalized with goat anti‐mouse IgG. Our experimental results show that diatom frustules improve the detection limit of mouse IgG to 10 pg/mL, which is ?100× better than conventional colloidal SERS sensors on flat glass.

Molecular dynamic simulations of systems of single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in liquid crystalline solvents were performed, in order to investigate the effect of the molecular structure and phase of the liquid crystal (LC) on the interactions between the CNTs. Three different LC molecules (5CB, 8CB and 5CF) were considered in our study. Our results with 5CB and 8CB suggest that increasing the chain length of the hydrophobic part of the LC molecule by three carbon atoms is insufficient to decrease the tendency for the CNTs to aggregate in the LCs. Additionally, varying the phase of the LC is also insufficient to decrease the aggregation tendency of the CNTs. However, simulations with 5CF (which has fluorine atoms in the head group of the LC molecule) suggest that this LC solvent can decrease the tendency of the CNTs to aggregate. This study is relevant to assist experimentalists with the development of high-quality dispersions of large concentrations of CNTs in the LCs.  相似文献

The order parameters as well as the rates of overall and internal motions of aggregated surfactants can be obtained from deuteron and carbon-13 nuclear relaxation experiments. The main contribution to the relaxation is generally the quadrupolar coupling (2H) or the short range dipolar interaction with protons (13C). In some cases it is convenient to derive the same information from the13C relaxation induced by long range dipolar interactions with a paramagnetic probe exchanging rapidly among the polar heads of surfactant molecules. This paper outlines the methods of interpretation of relaxation data by means of a rotational jump model of internal motions, taking into account most of the accessible conformers. The conformational and dynamical parameters are obtained from the magnetic field dependence of the longitudinal relaxation rates (micelles) or from the simultaneous fit of these rates and of the dipolar or quadrupolar splittings (liquid crystals). Some examples of application of these methods are given from recent works on single and double detailed surfactants.  相似文献

从青岛采集的多管藻(Polysiphoniaurceolata)中分离得到的R-藻蓝蛋白,在pH=7.0的0.05mol/L磷酸盐-硫酸铵缓冲液中,使用悬滴气相扩散法获得适合X光衍射分析用单晶。经Buerger徘循照相和XRD—100面探测仪分析,R-藻蓝蛋白晶体属于四方晶系,空间群为P41(3)212,晶胞参数:a=b=137.5c=218.5α=β=γ=90°。用等比重梯度柱法测定了晶体和母液的比重分别为1.19和1.09。根据分子量与晶胞体积估算,一个不对称单位含有一个分子,推测它的分子聚集态形式为(αβ)3。  相似文献
