The objective of the present study was to determine the activity of antioxidant enzymes: superoxide dismutase (SOD), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and catalase (CAT) and the expression of their genes in two barley genotypes under controlled severe drought. To fulfill this objective, 21-day-old barley plants of two genotypes: Rum and Yarmouk were exposed to controlled severe drought (25% field capacity) for 2, 9, and 16 days. The activity of SOD was significantly high in Rum genotype after 2 days of drought treatment. In Yarmouk genotype, the activity of APX was significantly high after 2 and 9 days of drought treatment. In Rum genotype, CAT2 was upregulated after 9 days of drought treatment and SOD and APX were upregulated after 16 days of drought treatment, whereas CAT2, SOD, and APX were upregulated in Yarmouk genotype after 2 days of drought treatment. The results indicate a unique pattern of activity and gene expression of the antioxidant enzymes in the two barley genotypes under controlled severe drought. Moreover, the data suggest that each genotype utilizes different molecular and biochemical responses under the same drought conditions. 相似文献

2007年7月~2008年7月,对海南岛翼手类动物进行了物种多样性调查。按照《世界哺乳动物名典》和Simmons的分类系统进行分类,结合考察标本记录,整理调查结果和文献资料。统计海南岛翼手类动物计37种,隶属于2亚目7科(包括采集标本,计16种,隶属于2亚目4科)。依据分布型对其组成成分进行分析,结果表明海南岛翼手类动物东洋界种类相对较多,反映出强烈的华南区的特征;岛屿的影响表现在亚种分化和缺乏某些大陆类群。依物种组成对分布区进行聚类分析,结果呈现明显的四阶现象。根据物种多样性组成和聚类分析结果,可以认为以乐东、东方和陵水为主要区域范围的尖峰岭和吊罗山两大山系是目前统计海南岛翼手类物种分布的热点区。 相似文献

The capacity of seedlings to survive for extended periods beneath intact forest increases the likelihood of regeneration of many species of canopy trees in rainforests. I studied the demographics of Argyrodendron actinophyllum (F.M.Bail.) H.L.Edlin seedlings in a subtropical rainforest in northern New South Wales. A mast seeding of A. actinophyllum was observed and subsequent survival of seedlings monitored over a four year period. Densities of seedlings that emerged correlated with seedfall, while seedfall depended on the size and distance to the surrounding trees. Mortality of seedlings showed density-dependence at higher seedling densities (above about 100 seedlings m?2), apparently in response to browsing pressure that varied with the density of seedlings. Seedlings that were protected from vertebrates by exclosure cages had lower mortality rates than unprotected seedlings and showed no density response. Glasshouse experiments showed seedling growth was reduced by defoliation, light intensity and initial seed weight, and that seedlings could not persist at light intensities below about 1% ambient, which occur in darker patches on the forest floor. Possible mechanisms whereby the observed spatial and temporal patterns of seedling recruitment could reduce the likelihood of the species becoming more common relative to other tree species in the forest are discussed. 相似文献

The herb and dwarf shrubs colonization of decaying logs in subalpine forest in the Polish Tatra Mountains 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This is a study of the colonization pattern of herbs and dwarf shrubs on rotten logs in subalpine spruce forests (Plagiothecio Piceetum) in the Tatra Mountains. On four study plots (total area 1.43 ha.) all dead logs were measured and the decomposition stage was estimated using the 8-degree scale. For each log the cover of all vascular species, bryophytes and lichens was determined according to the methods of classical phytosociology. Constancy and an index of coverage were calculated for all vascular species growing on logs. The total volume of logs was relatively high (93 m3 ha–1) and constituted 22% of the volume of living trees. Logs and stumps covered 411 m2 ha–1. These values are similar to those known from natural spruce forest from Carpathians and Scandinavia. The 8 stages of decomposition were equally represented, which indicates a constant supply of dead wood to the forest floor over time. The colonization of dead wood starts with lichens, followed by bryophytes and finally herbs and tree saplings. The first vascular plant colonists of dead logs appear at decay stage nr. 3 at least 20 years after tree death. The most suitable condition for most of the herb species corresponds to decay stage nr. 6 ca. 50 years after tree death. The herb cover is distinctively dominated by Vaccinium myrtillus. Simultaneously with herb species, tree seedlings colonize the logs. Constancy and abundance of Norway spruce saplings increases with advanced decomposition. It seems that the herb cover of logs does not hinder the regeneration of spruce. 相似文献

Summary Rough microsomes were subfractionated on the basis of different properties in order to investigate the nature and extent of the enzyme heterogeneity of these vesicles. A discontinuous gradient, containing monovalent cations allowed the separation of a ribosome-poor membrane fraction which was enriched in electron transport enzymes and relatively poor in phosphatases. Zonal centrifugation on a stabilizing gradient separated 3 fractions characterized by enrichment of electron transport enzymes, glucose-6-phosphatase and adenosinetriphosphatase, respectively. An essentially similar pattern was seen when ribosomes were removed with EDTA and the denuded vesicles subfractionated on a sucrose gradient. Rough microsomes from phenobarbitaltreated rats exhibited the same pattern both qualitatively and quantitatively. It appears that electron transport enzymes and two types of phosphatases are heterogeneously distributed among rough microsomal vesicles.This work has been supported by grants from the Swedish Medical Research Council. A life cycle assessment of a Swedish short‐rotation coppice willow bioenergy system generating electricity and heat was performed to investigate how the energy efficiency and time‐dependent climate impact were affected when the feedstock was converted into bio‐oil and char before generating electricity and heat, compared with being combusted directly. The study also investigated how the climate impact was affected when part of the char was applied to soil as biochar to act as a carbon sequestration agent and potential soil improver. The energy efficiencies were calculated separately for electricity and heat as the energy ratios between the amount of energy service delivered by the system compared to the amount of external energy inputs used in each scenario after having allocated the primary energy related to the inputs between the two energy services. The energy in the feedstock was not included in the external energy inputs. Direct combustion had the highest energy efficiency. It had energy ratios of 10 and 36 for electricity and heat, respectively. The least energy‐efficient scenario was the pyrolysis scenario where biochar was applied to soils. It had energy ratios of 4 and 12 for electricity and heat, respectively. The results showed that pyrolysis with carbon sequestration might be an option to counteract the current trend in global warming. The pyrolysis system with soil application of the biochar removed the largest amount of from the atmosphere. However, compared with the direct combustion scenario, the climate change mitigation potential depended on the energy system to which the bioenergy system delivered its energy services. A system expansion showed that direct combustion had the highest climate change mitigation potential when coal or natural gas were used as external energy sources to compensate for the lower energy efficiency of the pyrolysis scenario. 相似文献

2005 年9 月至2006 年8 月,在广西弄岗国家级自然保护区和扶绥珍贵动物保护区各选择一群黑叶猴作为研究对象,采用瞬时扫描取样法收集相关的行为数据。通过比较两个地理种群活动时间分配的数据来探讨栖息地质量对黑叶猴活动时间分配的影响。结果表明:生活在低质量栖息生境的黑叶猴猴群较生活在高质量栖息生境的猴群花费更多的时间休息和觅食,而用于移动和社会活动的时间相应减少。分析表明,栖息地质量的差异所造成的食物可获得性以及食物组成的差异可能是影响黑叶猴群活动时间分配差异的重要因素。虽然不同活动的峰值在日活动节律中出现的时间存在差异,但总的日活动节律在不同地理种群中表现出相同的趋势,即早晨和下午出现两个明显的觅食高峰,而中午则是长时间的休息;移动的高峰通常发生在觅食高峰之前。 相似文献

1 We studied the migration of forest plant species using their percentage cover and frequency in 197 plots distributed over 26 transects across ecotones between ancient and recent deciduous forests in the Meerdaal forest complex in central Belgium. The recent forest stands varied in age between 36 and 132 years, and all occurred on silty, well-drained soils.
2 The total cover, number and diversity of field layer species did not differ significantly between ancient and recent forest stands.
3 The number and cover of the ancient forest plant species and of ant-dispersed species correlated positively with the age of the recent forest and negatively with both the duration of its former agricultural land use and the distance to the ancient forest. This implies a slow colonization of the recent forest stands by these species; all species were, however, able to migrate across the ecotones.
4 The cover of four species ( Anemone nemorosa , Lamium galeobdolon , Convallaria majalis and Polygonatum multiflorum ) declined along the transect, suggesting that they are limited by seed dispersal. Their colonization rates, calculated from the occurrence of the farthest individual, ranged from < 0.05 to 1.15 m year−1 and for other measures from < 0.05 to 0.65 m year−1 . Anemone and Lamium appeared to colonize the recent forest by establishment of isolated individuals, while Polygonatum and Convallaria expanded populations from existing patches on the border between ancient and recent forest.

N‐type metal oxides such as hematite (α‐Fe2O3) and bismuth vanadate (BiVO4) are promising candidate materials for efficient photoelectrochemical water splitting; however, their short minority carrier diffusion length and restricted carrier lifetime result in undesired rapid charge recombination. Herein, a 2D arranged globular Au nanosphere (NS) monolayer array with a highly ordered hexagonal hole pattern (hereafter, Au array) is introduced onto the surface of photoanodes comprised of metal oxide films via a facile drying and transfer‐printing process. Through plasmon‐induced resonance energy transfer, the Au array provides a strong electromagnetic field in the near‐surface area of the metal oxide film. The near‐field coupling interaction and amplification of the electromagnetic field suppress the charge recombination with long‐lived photogenerated holes and simultaneously enhance the light harvesting and charge transfer efficiencies. Consequently, an over 3.3‐fold higher photocurrent density at 1.23 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) is achieved for the Au array/α‐Fe2O3. Furthermore, the high versatility of this transfer printing of Au arrays is demonstrated by introducing it on the molybdenum‐doped BiVO4 film, resulting in 1.5‐fold higher photocurrent density at 1.23 V versus RHE. The tailored metal film design can provide a potential strategy for the versatile application in various light‐mediated energy conversion and optoelectronic devices. 相似文献
