Correlation of cotylenol with the aglycone of fusicoccin

The stereostructure of cotylenol, the aglycone of the cotylenins, has been confirmed by chemical correlation with the aglycone of fusicoccin A.     

Seed glycoproteins of Lupinus angustifolius

The seed globulins of Lupinus angustifolius are glycoproteins containing 1.4–1.9% (α-conglutin), 2.8–6.4 % (β-conglutin) and 1.2–3.8% (γ-conglutin) carbohydrate. The highest values were obtained after acid hydrolysis and determination by phenol—H₂SO₄, (α, γ-conglutins) or by methanolysis and sugar determination by GLC (β-conglutin). TCA denaturation of β- and γ-conglutins was necessary to remove adsorbed galactomannans before determination of glycoprotein carbohydrates. All 3 conglutins contained mannose, galactose and glucosamine, though the ratio of mannose to galactose, and to a lesser extent neutral sugars to hexosamine varied. Small amounts of fucose were found associated only with γ-conglutin.     

Teucrins H1-H4, novel clerodane-type diterpenes from Teucrium hyrcanicum

The structure and stereochemistry of teucrins H1, H2, H3 and H4, four novel diterpenes from Teucrium hyrcanicum have been established by detailed studies of the PMR and ¹³C NMR spectra, CD results and chemical transformations. Teucrin H4, a minor constituent is shown to possess a unique stereochemistry hitherto not reported for related diterpenoids.     

Novel p-coumaric acid esters from Pinus densiflora pollen

Solvent-extractable lipids in Pinus densiflora pollen were investigated. The cis- and trans-isomers of 1,16-dioxo-, 1-hydroxy-16-oxo- and 1, 16-dihydroxyhexadecan-7-yl p-coumarates were identified.     

Carbohydrate Composition of Variant-Specific Surface Antigen Glycoproteins from Trypanosoma brucei

SYNOPSIS. The carbohydrate of variant-specific surface antigen glycoproteins from bloodstream forms of 13 cloned variants of Trypanosoma brucei was analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography. The glycoproteins contained from 6 to 17% carbohydrate by weight, and all contained the same 4 sugars: mannose, galactose, glucose, and glucosamine (probably as N-acetyl-glucosamine). The glycoprotein from variant 048, strain 427 contained (±20%) 11 mannose, 4 galactose, 4 glucose, and 5 glucosamine residues/mole of glycoprotein (molecular weight 65,000). Glucose was an integral component of the glycoproteins, not dissociable by sodium dodecyl sulphate, 8 M urea, or 1 M acetic acid. Some of the glucose was dissociated by trichloroacetic acid. Most of the glycoproteins formed precipitin bands with concanavalin A in Ouchterlony double diffusion, but none formed such bands with wheat germ agglutinin or Ricinus communis lectin (molecular weight 120,000).

木犀科11属19个种叶绿体基因组的一般特征和变异特征的比较分析显示, 结果表明, 该科叶绿体基因组大小为154-165 kb, 其差异主要是大单拷贝(LSC)长度的差异所致。Jasminum属3个物种的叶绿体基因组长度与其余物种有较大差异, 该属clpP基因内含子和accD基因丢失。共线性分析表明, Jasminum属3个物种多个基因出现基因重排现象, 倒位可能是重排的主要原因。Jasminum属在IRb/SSC和SSC/IRa边界的基因均与其它物种不同; 重复序列与SSR数量检测结果表明, Jasminum属与其余物种在数量及重复长度上差异较大。基于CDS数据构建的系统发育树表明, Abeliophyllum distichum和Forsythia suspensa为木犀科中较早分化的类群。     

Biochemical analysis of related,independently arising histocompatibility mutants: bm17 and KB-98 enlarge the “bg series” of H-2Kb mutants

The “bg” series of MHC mutations is the most prevalent type of mutations of K^b in C57BL/6 mice screened by reciprocal tail skin grafting. The basis for identification of this series of mutations is the incompatibility of grafts between the parental B6 and the mutant. This series takes the longest to reciprocally reject the skin grafts. The series can be subdivided into “bg 1” and “bg 2” groups based on K^b-restricted recognition of virus-infected mutant target cells. The biochemical basis for these mutations are amino acid substitutions at residues 116 and 121 of the K^b transplantation antigen. These substitutions do not alter monoclonal antibody binding sites. The structural basis of MAb binding and the genetic basis of the mutation are discussed. Toddanol and toddanone,two coumarins from Toddalia asiatica

Two new constituents isolated from the roots of Toddalia asiatica and designated as toddanol and toddanone have been characterized as 5,7-dimethoxy-6-(2-hydroxy-3-methylbut-3-enyl)coumarin (1) and 5,7-dimethoxy-6-(3-methyl-2-oxobutanyl)coumarin (3), respectively, by spectral analysis and interconversion experiments.     

3-methoxy-4,6-dihydroxymorphinandien-7-one,an alkaloid from Croton bonplandianum

A new alkaloid, 3-methoxy-4,6-dihydroxymorphinandien-7-one, and norsinoacutine have been isolated from extracts of Croton bonplandianum.     

Fragmentation pattern of permethyl 6-C-glycosylflavones in electron impact mass spectrometry

A mass spectral fragmentation pattern of permethyl 6-C-glycosylflavones is proposed from the MS data of permethyl derivatives mono-O-deuteriomethylated in the 2″-, 3″-, 4″- or 6″-positions. The synthesis of these compounds via O″-glycosyl-6-C-glucosylflavones is described.
