We attempted a new approach based on a modern dynamical system theory to reconstruct the arterial blood pressure signals in relation to heart rate fluctuations of developing chick embryos. The dynamical systems approach in general is to model a phenomenon that is presented by a single time series record and approximate the dynamical property (e.g. heart rate fluctuations) of a system based only on information contained in a single-variable (arterial blood pressure) of the system. The time-series data of the arterial blood pressure was reconstructed in 3-dimensional space to draw characteristic orbits. Since the reconstructed orbits of the blood pressure should retain information contained in the pressure signals, we attempted to derive instantaneous heart rate (IHR) from the reconstructed orbits. The derived IHR presenting HR fluctuations coincided well with the IHR obtained conventionally from the peak-to-peak time intervals of the maximum blood pressure. Movements of the reconstructed orbits of the arterial blood pressure in 3-dimensional space reflected HR fluctuations (i.e. transient decelerations and accelerations). 相似文献

Summary The effects of exogenous applications of ascorbic acid on white spruce somatic embryogenesis were examined. Increasing concentrations
of ascorbate (1 μM to 100 μM) in the germination medium enhanced somatic embryo conversion in a linear fashion. At the optimal ascorbate level (100 μM) the number of embryos able to undergo normal conversion, i.e., emergence of both root and shoot, increased from 34% (control)
to 58%. The effect of ascorbate had a more pronounced effect on shoot growth than on root emergence; and at 100 μM ascorbate, the percentage of embryos able to produce new leaf primordia increased from 47% (control) to 79%. Root emergence
increased slightly from 64% in the control embryos to 74% in the presence of ascorbic acid. The ascorbate-treated embryos
were characterized by an enlarged apical region, presumably due to a larger number of leaf primordia produced, and by dark

Immature maize (Zea mays L.) embryos were treated with aflatoxin B1 concentrations, ranging from 0.1 g ml–1 to 25 g ml–1. Below 5 g ml–1 aflatoxin B1, root and shoot elongation was not significantly inhibited. Ultrastructurally, root tip cells showed little deterioration, except a possible diffused clearing in mitochondria and plastids. As the toxin concentration was increased above 5 gml–1, shoot, and particularly root elongation, was progressively inhibited. Associated with this, there was an apparent decrease in the ribosome population. Furthermore, membranes, particularly the vacuolar membrane, became abnormal and vacuolar distension occurred. At 20 and 25 g ml–1, these effects were exacerbated, and mitochondria and plastid structure was disrupted. At these concentrations, there was evidence of a disruption in lipid metabolism. To unravel a low fecundity in Zephyranthes candida (Lindl.) Herb., the development of the endosperm was studied using conventional paraplast section technique. The results show that the endosperm develops normally and comprises four major stages viz. syncytial, cellularization, differentiation and maturation. Both proliferation of antipodal cells and their close contact with the primary endosperm nucleus were observed, which should favor transportation of nutrients and accelerate development of embryo and endosperm. In Z. candida, at least four events of nuclear migration occurred during the course of embryogenesis and endosperm development. The 12.7% structurally and functionally abnormal ovules, along with the 22.3% collapsed and aborted ovules observed accounts for the low fecundity to some extent. 相似文献

为了研究家蚕Bombyx mori卵中储存的母性遗传信息,以未受精的肾脏型和正常型蚕卵为材料构建了cDNA文库,并对其随机测序,共获得391条表达序列标签(EST)序列,经拼接后得到374条非重复序列。生物信息学分析发现,172个非重复序列与国际数据库GenBank和silkbase中的已知基因具有较高的相似性。除3个已知母性基因外,其余主要与DNA复制、能量代谢、信号转导、转录、蛋白质结构以及胚胎发育中个体形成等相关。该结果可为进一步研究家蚕胚胎早期发育的调控提供基础数据。 相似文献

The transfer of lipid from the yolk to the avian embryo is mediated by the yolk sac membrane (YSM). Some, but not all, of the published morphological evidence supports the view that the lipid undergoes a cycle of hydrolysis and re-esterification during translocation across the YSM. The present study aims to test this view by investigating the capacity of the YSM to perform esterification of free fatty acids to form acyl-lipids. YSM pieces (area vasculosa), obtained from the chicken embryo at day 10 of development, were incubated in vitro in medium containing [14C]-palmitic acid. Radioactivity was rapidly incorporated into the tissue lipid indicating a high capacity for esterification. The incorporation was linear with time during the 1-h incubation. Approximately 84% of the incorporated label was recovered in triacylglycerol, 12% was incorporated into phospholipid and less than 1% was detected in cholesteryl ester. [14C]-palmitic acid was incorporated primarily at the sn-1/3 positions in the triacylglycerol molecule and at the sn-1 position of phospholipid. The incorporation of label into tissue pieces obtained from the non-vascularized peripheral region of the YSM (area vitellina) was much more limited than that observed for the area vasculosa. The results support the hypothesis that yolk lipid is hydrolyzed and re-esterified during transfer across the YSM.Abbreviations
