Plant senescence plays diverse important roles in development and environmental responses.However,the molecular basis of plant senescence is remained largely unknown.A rice spontaneous mutant with the character of early senescence and male sterility (sms) was found in the breeding line NT10-748.In order to identify the gene SMS1 and the underlying mechanism,we preliminarily analyzed physiological and biochemical phenotypes of the mutant.The mutant contained lower chlorophyll content compared with the wild type control and was severe male sterile with lower pollen viability.Genetic analysis showed that the mutant was controlled by a single recessive gene.By the map-based cloning approach,we fine-mapped SMS1 to a 67 kb region between the markers Z3-4 and Z1-1 on chromosome 8 using 1,074 F2 recessive plants derived from the cross between the mutant sms1 (japonica) × Zhenshan 97 (indica),where no known gene involved in senescence or male sterility has been identified.Therefore the SMS1 gene will be a novel gene that regulates the two developmental processes.The further cloning and functional analysis of the SMS1 gene is under way.  相似文献

应用单向SDS—PAGE结合蛋白质铬银染色技术对水稻野败型细胞质雄性不育系珍汕97A和其保持系的叶绿体、线粒体和细胞质的蛋白质多肽进行了比较研究,发现两系之间存在明显的差异,生殖器官(穗子)上的差异比营养器官(叶片)上的差异更为显著。在成熟穗上,叶绿体可溶性蛋白不育系有25条带,保持系仅16条带,两者间有19个多肽不同;线粒体可溶性蛋白不育系有28条带,保持系比不育系少30.1和21.8KD两个多肽;细胞质可溶性蛋白丙酮沉淀物的水溶性蛋白组分不育系有24条带,保持系为29条带,两系间却有7条多肽存在差别;细胞质可溶性蛋白丙酮沉淀物的SDS-增溶性蛋白组分不育系有18条带,保持系只有11条带,两者间亦有7条多肽出现差异。由此可以看出,水稻野败型CMS表型的表达可能需要较多个基因的启动和关闭,既与叶绿体和线粒体有关,还涉及到核基因组的作用。  相似文献

During mating, male bushcrickets transfer a spermatophore that consists of a sperm-containing ampulla and a product of the accessory glands, the spermatophylax, which females directly ingest. In the present study, we demonstrate male spermatophore allocation in the bushcricket Poecilimon zimmeri . Males of this species show condition-dependent spermatophore investment. This investment depended upon the age at first mating of males, with older individuals transferring larger spermatophores than younger ones of the same body mass. Independently of age, heavier males transfer larger spermatophores, but the size of males (as measured by femur length) was not a good predictor. Heavier males allocate a lower proportion of their mass to spermatophores and reach their maximal investment point earlier than less heavy males. Spermatophylax production levelled off to a species specific maximum earlier than that of sperm investment (measured as ampulla mass), suggesting that males face high levels of sperm competition.  © 2009 The Linnean Society of London, Biological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2009, 96 , 354–360.  相似文献

Zaprionus indianus is a cosmopolitan drosophilid, of Afrotropical origin, which has recently colonized South America. The sexual dimorphism (SD) of body size is low, males being almost as big as females. We investigated 10 natural populations, 5 from America and 5 from Africa, using the isofemale line technique. Three traits were measured on each fly: wing and thorax length and sternopleural bristle number. Two indices of SD were compared, and found to be highly correlated (r > 0.99). For the sake of simplicity, only the female/male (F/M) ratio was further considered. A significant genetic variability of SD was found in all cases, although with a low heritability (intra-class correlation of 0.13), about half the value found for the traits themselves. For size SD, we did not find any variation among continents or any latitudinal trend, and average values were 1.02 for wing length and 1.01 for thorax length. Bristle number SD was much greater (1.07). Among mass laboratory strains, SD was genetically much more variable than in recently collected populations, a likely consequence of laboratory drift. Altogether, SD, although genetically variable and prone to laboratory drift, is independent of size variations and presumably submitted to a stabilizing selection in nature.  相似文献

银杏(Ginkgo biloba)是现存最古老的裸子植物之一, 其生殖过程表现出许多原始特征和独特性状, 长期以来备受国内外专家的关注。经过近100年的研究取得了显著成果: (1) 银杏雄配子体发育周期长, 经历了从平周分裂到斜背式分裂,并最终垂周分裂形成带有鞭毛的游动精子; (2) 银杏雌配子体发育经历较长的游离核期和细胞化期, 分化形成颈卵器母细胞并经平周分裂、垂周分裂和斜向分裂形成成熟的颈卵器(包括有4个颈细胞和1个卵细胞); (3) 推测其精细胞中的液泡状结构为受精过程中的遗传物质载体; (4) 原胚的形成经历了游离核期和细胞化期。该文针对国内外最新银杏生殖生物学方面的研究进展, 对银杏雌雄配子体发育、受精过程以及胚胎形成等方面进行较为系统全面的分析和总结, 为进一步的银杏生殖生物学研究提供有价值的参考资料。  相似文献

长花柱型滇丁香小孢子发生及雄配子体发育   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
利用常规石蜡切片法和细胞学压片法,对异型花柱植物滇丁香的长花柱型植株的小孢子发生、雄配子体发育及花粉萌发进行观察。结果表明:(1)长花柱型滇丁香具5枚花药,花药4室。(2)花药壁由1层表皮、1层花药内壁、2层中层和1~3层绒毡层组成;花药壁发育方式为基本型,绒毡层类型为腺质绒毡层。(3)小孢子母细胞减数分裂的胞质分裂为同时型,四分体排列方式为四面体型,偶有左右对称型;不同药室间小孢子母细胞减数分裂不同步。(4)成熟花粉粒为二细胞型。(5)小孢子发生和雄配子体发育过程正常,表明长花柱型滇丁香属于发育正常的两性花。(6)授粉4h后,长花柱型滇丁香的花粉在长、短两种花柱柱头上的萌发率分别达(91.8±1.6)%和(93.2±1.1)%,且两者间无显著性差异(t=1.585,df=8,p=0.152),表明长花柱型滇丁香的成熟花粉粒在长、短两种花柱柱头上的萌发均正常。  相似文献

While the anatomy and physiology of human reproduction differ between the sexes, the effects of hormones on skeletal growth do not. Human bone growth depends on estrogen. Greater estrogen produced by ovaries causes bones in female bodies to fuse before males' resulting in sex differences in adult height and mass. Female pelves expand more than males' due to estrogen and relaxin produced and employed by the tissues of the pelvic region and potentially also due to greater internal space occupied by female gonads and genitals. Evolutionary explanations for skeletal sex differences (aka sexual dimorphism) that focus too narrowly on big competitive men and broad birthing women must account for the adaptive biology of skeletal growth and its dependence on the developmental physiology of reproduction. In this case, dichotomizing evolution into proximate‐ultimate categories may be impeding the progress of human evolutionary science, as well as enabling the popular misunderstanding and abuse of it.  相似文献

Potato cybrids result from the fusion between cytoplasm and nuclear gene donors. Such genetic materials are an alternative means to broaden the breeding pool by non‐sexual gene transfer. Tetrad pollen sterility provides also another source of male sterility with some potential for true potato seed breeding. The objective of this research was to investigate cybrid‐derived offspring for both agronomic and reproductive characteristics in two contrasting Peruvian locations, and to examine new exotic germplasm for tetrad sterility, with the aim of broadening the breeding pool available at the Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP). The cybrids were derived from fusions between Y‐245.7, a clone with tetrad sterility, and Atzimba. These cybrids were crossed with selected male parents from the CIP breeding population, and their hybrid offspring were tested in La Molina (coastal desert) and Huancayo (cool highlands). In addition, other clones with tetrad sterility were also crossed with selected testers to determine their breeding value. There were significant differences for tuber yield, style length, and berry number among the hybrid offspring, and the genotype by environment interaction was significant for tuber yield and berry number. The top 25% highest yielding cybrid‐derived offspring across both locations showed the same tuber yield although they were significantly different for some of the reproductive characteristics. With the exception of one cybrid, the others did not exhibit segregation for tetrad sterility in their hybrid offspring, which were male fertile. However, the offspring derived from crosses between other sources of tetrad sterility and the same testers all showed tetrad sterility, and some of them had outstanding tuber yield at La Molina. The lack of segregation for tetrad sterility in these new crosses suggests that the non‐cybrid, male sterile, female parents are triplex or quadriplex for the Tr nuclear locus, which interacts with a sensitive cytoplasm (e.g. Trs from S. verrucosum or S. stoloniferum) to produce tetrad sterility in potato.  相似文献

Sporophyte-gametophyte interactions between anther and male gametophyte were investigated in two (fertile and sterile) clones of petunia (Petunia hybrida L.) with different reproductive strategies. Structural and functional reorganization of sporophyte tissues in the developing anther of fertile clone is closely coordinated with each of the successive stages of male gametophyte development (from meiosis to the formation of binuclear pollen) and comprises not only destruction of tapetum and three middle layers of the wall but also an activation of gas exchange and a rise in the content of sugars (sucrose, fructose, and glucose). In sterile clone, degradation of tapetum and anomalies in the development of sporogenic tissue were simultaneously observed in the prophase of meiosis. The death of microsporocytes and degeneration of tapetum were accompanied by a decrease in the level of sucrose delivered to the anther tissues and changes in the ratio between sucrose and hexoses in favor of glucose.  相似文献

田间观察了桃蚜Myzus persicae (Sulzer)、绣线菊蚜Aphis spiraecola Patch 、山楂圆疣蚜Ovatus crataegarius (Walker)等3种蚜虫对性信息素[(4aS,7S,7aR)-荆芥内酯和 (1R,4aS,7S,7aR)-荆芥醇]的反应,并且调查了性信息素与植物挥发物对桃蚜的田间引诱活性的相互作用.在有冬寄主或夏寄主植物的田中,性信息素诱捕器诱捕到桃蚜雄蚜与雌性母的数量显著多于对照诱捕器的诱捕数;但在非寄主植物的田中,却引诱不到桃蚜.苯甲醛(冬寄主植物桃树Prunus persica的主要挥发物组分之一)能够增强桃蚜雄蚜的引诱作用.绣线菊蚜雄蚜和雌性母对植物中提取的荆芥内酯有反应,而山楂圆疣蚜雄蚜和雌性母对植物中提取的和人工合成的荆芥内酯都没有反应,但对荆芥醇有反应.并且在荆芥醇中添加荆芥内酯之后对山楂圆疣蚜雄蚜引诱活性显著提高.还讨论了雌性蚜产生化合物被雄蚜作为性信息素、被雌性母作为聚集信息素以及性信息素与寄主植物挥发物的相互作用.  相似文献
