In the 63-month period from January 1988 to March 1993, monthly levels of adenoviruses, enteroviruses (coxsackie B, polio, echo) and reoviruses in the urban river water in Nara Prefecture, Japan were in the range 0-25, 0-190 and 0-325, plaque forming units per liter (PFU/liter), and the average levels were 2.4, 40.6 and 56.2 PFU/liter, respectively. The peak reovirus level was found in winter during the cold weather months (Nov. to Mar.). The peak enterovirus level was found in summer (May to Sept.) but continued to be found in autumn-winter (Oct. to Jan.) from 1991 to 1993. The levels of adenoviruses were low throughout all 5 years, as compared to those of reoviruses and enteroviruses. Polioviruses were isolated following the administration of vaccine. Although a changing pattern of serotype prevalence was seen with the coxsackie B viruses and echoviruses from 1988 to 1993, this is not so for polioviruses, which remained almost unchanged for the five-year period. Adenoviruses were isolated throughout all five years, though in small numbers. Reoviruses were isolated most frequently throughout five years.  相似文献

探究自然环境和人类活动影响下的河流水环境变化,对于流域水资源管理和保护有重要意义。目前从较长时间尺度上系统开展拉萨河流域水环境的研究较少,基于拉萨河流域达孜、卡林、才纳3个环境监测中心站近20年(1995-2014)的水质资料,综合单因子指数法和内梅罗指数法评估拉萨河流域水环境状况,并采用Mann-Kendall检验法分析其多年变化趋势。同时,从经济社会和自然环境两个方面通过灰色关联分析法识别了影响流域水环境变化的关键驱动因子,以期为流域水环境保护提供借鉴。结果表明:(1)总体上,拉萨河流域水环境状况良好,满足水功能区要求;(2)水体中pH、溶解氧、化学需氧量、总磷等指标的取值较高,在0.7左右,是拉萨河流域水环境需重点关注指标;(3)水环境质量稍有下降,内梅罗指数从1995年的0.62增加到2014年的0.73;(4)近20年来拉萨河流域水环境变化的主要驱动因子为降水量、牲畜存栏数、人口数、农村人口数和国民经济生产总值等,农牧非点源污染是拉萨河流域的主要污染源,要重点关注和管控。  相似文献

For metabolically demanding behaviours, power supply (ATP resynthesis per unit time) is an important constraint on performance. Yet ecology as a discipline lacks a framework to account for these power constraints. We developed such a framework (borrowing concepts from sports science) and applied it to the upriver migration of anadromous fish. Our models demonstrate how metabolic power constraints alters optimal migratory behaviour; in response to strong counter flows, fish minimise cost of transport by alternating between rapid, anaerobically fuelled swimming and holding to restore spent fuels. Models ignoring power constraints underestimated the effect of elevated water temperature on migration speed and costs (by up to 60%). These differences were primarily due to a temperature‐mediated reduction in aerobic scope that impairs the ability of fish to rapidly migrate through warm waters. Our framework provides a mechanistic link between temperature‐induced reductions in aerobic scope and their ecological consequences for individuals, populations and communities.  相似文献

Data from a survey on the distribution of fish species in Switzerland were used to test the hypothesis that species richness of the fish fauna is closely related with the structure, heterogeneity and complexity of the ecotonal zone in rivers. Species richness increased with increasing structural heterogeneity and variability of the ecotone in rivers wider than 2.5 m at altitudes below 500 m. In lowland brooks and in rivers at higher altitudes other factors seemed to be more important than morphological variability: alpine rivers are more often left natural than lowland rivers and salmonid stocking is more important in these naturally species poor fish communities. The proportion of threatened species was higher if riverbed and -banks were natural, the slope was flat, the variability in depths and sediment composition was high and if the ecotonal zone was well structured. Specialized species such as nase and riffle minnow only occurred in larger rivers, whereas in small and medium-sized rivers with low morphological variability these threatened species were missing. On the other hand, ubiquitous species such as chub, roach and perch, occurred in all sizes of rivers, even if morphological variability was small. Low morphological variability and its impact on the composition of the fish community is mainly a consequence of past human interventions. Therefore river management has to take into account the ecological requirements of specialized species and increasing the variability of riverbed and banks would considerably contribute to the conservation of endangered fish species.  相似文献

In the framework of a macroinvertebrate drift study, the oligochaete community was analysed over one year (1989) at six sites located in a partly impounded reach of the Upper Rhône River (France). Drift composition between sites was somewhat affected by the environmental conditions. These differences were caused by significant deviations in drift rates (P < 0.05) of endobenthic oligochaetes and non-swimming Naididae. There was no significant difference (P > 0.05) among the swimming Naididae. As the latter strongly dominated, global spatial differences in the drift were weak. Temporal changes constituted the main source of variability in drifting oligochaetes. Life cycles and reproductive ecology of four major swimming Naidid species, Nais elinguis, Stylaria lacustris, Nais christinae, and Nais barbata, explained most of the drift structure over the year. Hydrological fluctuations also affected drift structure, both for swimming and non-swimming species. Taxon richness and relative abundance in the drift were very similar to those obtained in the river benthos from a reference reach previously studied. There was a lack of stygobiont and stygophilous species that are frequent in area of groundwater seepage. Biological and environmental implications of oligochaete drift are stressed. The drift phenomenon is appropriated to provide ecological informations on oligochaete communities in fast flowing and deep, large rivers.  相似文献

Experiments of primary production were carried out at weekly intervals in the surface waters at one station (maximum depth of 20 m) in the Saguenay River, near Chicoutimi, during May–December 1978. The photic zone was very thin (maximum depth of 2 m). Phosphates are very low during the season sampling (maximum of 0.1 µat-g.–1). Maximum of production rates and biomass are respectively 3.5 mg C.m–3.h–1 and 3.7 mg.m–3. The river receives both industrial and urban runoff. Trace metals (Mercury, Copper, Lead, and Iron) seemed to be one of the important limiting factors for phytoplankton growth.

Mature bream (>30 cm LF) dominated the fish communities in floodplain lakes along the lower River Rhine in The Netherlands, in terms of biomass, in all lakes at all times. In some lakes bream made up 99% of the total fish biomass. While immature, medium–sized bream (10-30 cm) and white bream and roach were abundant in the main channel of the river, these species were almost absent from the floodplain lakes. Inundation of the floodplains did not lead to spatial homogenization of species and length distributions. Small bream (<10 cm) left the floodplains to become resident in the main channel until maturity. Once mature (c. 30 cm), they returned to the lakes during the next inundation and stayed there. Mature bream that moved into the lakes were significantly smaller and had a lower condition than the resident bream. Turbid clay-pits were probably important sources of bream for the lower Rhine and the recruitment of the 0+ year group of bream to the riverine population was influenced by their discharge pattern.  相似文献

Chironomus piger larvae are widespread in small rivers and canals strongly polluted with domestic sewage. Despite this, almost nothing is known concerning the biology of the species under natural conditions and its role in the process of river self-purification. For two years, benthic samples were collected in the Sestra River at a site about 250 m downstream of the effluent discharge drains of a sewage treatment installation where the greatest concentrations of the larvae occurred. The number and biomass ofC. piger larvae were subject to marked fluctuations,viz. 96,000–348,000 ind m–2 and 420–1,800 g m–2. 460 degreedays (on average) was required for development of one generation.C. piger has 5 or 6 generations per year depending on the hydrometeorological conditions during the growing season.C. piger larvae play an important role in self-purification of the river. They utilize precipitating seston for food and for building their dwelling tubes. According to our calculations the amount of organic matter assimilated in the area of maximum larval concentration ranged 80–177 g wet weight m–2 day–1, and 32–71 g wet weight m–2day–1 was mineralized.  相似文献

拉萨河流域是西藏政治、经济和文化核心区,具有青藏高原典型的高寒湿地及西藏主要的耕作区,受人类活动及气候变化的影响,流域生态安全及生态健康面临威胁和破坏。植被净初级生产力(NPP)作为衡量生态系统健康的重要指标,能够反映生态系统的可持续发展。利用2000-2015年MODIS-NDVI数据,基于光能利用率模型估算了拉萨河流域的NPP,分析了NPP的时空格局、动态变化特征及NPP与气候因子的相关性,探讨了影响NPP变化的驱动因子并明确了驱动分区。结果表明:近16年拉萨河流域NPP年均值为165.614 gC m-2 a-1,总体分布具有明显的空间异质性,与该地区植被类型的分布规律相似,不同植被类型的NPP存在差异。NPP变化在总体上呈下降趋势,平均年变化趋势斜率为-1.804 gC m-2 a-1。NPP与气温和降水的相关性具有明显的地域性差异,草本湿地与气温呈显著负相关,灌丛与降水呈显著正相关。NPP变化受气候因子驱动的区域占比20.81%,非气候因子占比79.19%。  相似文献

Anthropogenic chemicals occurring in the environment, namely endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), have generated growing concern over their potential adverse effects on human wildlife health and ecosystem processes. This interest resulted particularly from their abilities to mimic the effect of endogenous hormones. In this study, we used stable transfected reporter cell lines to investigate the endocrine-disrupting profile of water as well as sediment samples. Samples are collected from up- and downstream of an industrial wastewater discharge point at the Hamdoun River in the vicinity of an industrial zone located at the center of Tunisia. The analysis of estrogen, androgen, and xenobiotic (pregnane X and dioxin) ligands receptors expressed by chimeric cell lines indicated that while the water and sediment samples from upstream sites have lower levels of estrogenic activity, those from downstream exhibited stronger estrogenic, aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), and Pregnane X Receptor (PXR) activities. Moreover, collected samples have shown hormonal activity in terms of all tested receptors except the androgenic ones. In vitro recombinant estrogen receptor competitive binding assays revealed that while the estrogenic activities of the downstream water sample compounds had a strong affinity for estrogen receptor α (ERα), those present in the sediment samples showed a weaker one. These findings were consolidated by subsequent chemical analysis (high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detectors). Our results indicate that the water and sediment discharges at the Hamdoun River represent a major sink for EDCs from natural and industrial effluents, particularly those of the textile industry, with pernicious potential to disrupt normal endocrine functions.  相似文献
