Suppression of oncogene expression and of host- or tumour-expressed growth factors and receptors may precipitate spontaneous regression or dormancy in human cancer. Loss of oncogenes necessary for progressive proliferation can lead to differentiation changes. Both natural factors and chemical agents can trigger such a change, and of the naturally occurring agents, growth factors and immunological factors have been most studied. We may find new clues to biological methods of prolonging arrest of cancer, by looking for cytogenetic abnormalities, alterations in oncogene expression and immunocytological composition, in patients showing prolonged dormancy of cancer. 相似文献

We present measurements of the effective spontaneous curvature of fluid lipid bilayers as a function of trans-bilayer asymmetry.
Experiments are performed on micrometer-scale vesicles in sugar solutions with varying species across the membrane. There
are two effects leading to a preferred curvature of such a vesicle. The spontaneous curvatures of the two monolayers as well
as their area difference combine into an effective spontaneous curvature of the membrane. Our technique for measuring this
parameter allows us to use vesicle morphology as a probe for general membrane-solute interactions affecting elasticity.

Abstract A cluster of five to seven AKH-like immunoreactive cells lie in each lobe of the paired corpora cardiaca of the true armyworm, Pseudaletia unipuncta. These cells form a mesh work of immunoreactive processes within the corpora cardiaca, and immunoreactive tracts projecting posteriorly over the aorta.
Reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography of extracts of the corpora cardiaca of P.unipuncta revealed a single large U.V. absorbent peak with a retention time identical to synthetic Manduca- AKH. Amino acid analysis of the contents of this peak yielded a composition identical to that of synthetic Manduca-AKH which was analysed in a parallel manner. Furthermore the material within the peak possessed adipokinetic activity when bioassayed in day 2 adult male P. unipuncta. The corpora cardiaca of similar individuals were found to contain approximately 17.6ng (17.6pmol) of Manduca-AKH equivalents per pair.
Injection of Manduca-AKH into 2-day-old adult male P.unipuncta resulted in a dose-dependent elevation in haemolymph lipid levels with a maximum level of 80–90μmg/μl obtained with 5–10 ng of Manduca-AKH. Continuous flight also elevated haemolymph lipid levels in day 4 adult males with a significant elevation evident in the first samples taken after 15 min of flight and lipid levels plateauing at approximately 100 μg/μl by about 60 min of flight. 相似文献

A mixture of steamed soybean and boiled rice with seeded Aspergillus oryzae was naturally fermented without addition of yeasts or Lactobacilli, and kept matured for 12 months at room temperature. Chemical analysis of this rice-koji miso sample for lipid changes during maturation showed that triacylglycerol was gradually decomposed into free fatty acid, with distinct formation of fatty acid ethyl ester which, six months after the start of fermentation, came to account for 35.0% of total lipid. The ester was constituted primarily with linoleic acid (ca. 50%) and oleic acid (ca. 20%), no appreciable change in this proportion being observed during maturation. Also, the proportion was unique in that this did not reflect the fatty acid composition in a mixture of the two materials. It is possible to monitor the maturation of the rice-koji miso by following up the increase with time in fatty acid ethyl ester. 相似文献

The oxylipin metabolism was analyzed in soybean homogenates containing different sets of lipoxygenase isozymes (L-1, -2, and -3); namely, Suzuyutaka (containing L-1, -2, and -3), Yumeyutaka (containing only L-1), Kanto102 (containing L-2), Kyushu119 (containing L-3), and Ichihime (lacking all three isozymes). The amount of oxidized fatty acids in the esterified form was higher than that in the free form with every cultivar. Kanto102 formed the highest amount of oxidized lipids, and Yumeyutaka and Ichihime formed the lowest. With Kanto102 and Kyushu119, high amounts of keto fatty acids were formed, while they were undetectable with Yumeyutaka and Ichihime. Due to the lack of lipoxygenases in Ichihime, an accumulation of free fatty acids was expected; however, their amount in Yumeyutaka was significantly lower than was expected. It is suggested that a pathway existed to form C6-volatiles through hydroperoxides in the esterified form. 相似文献

Reaction kinetics of betanin and its aglycone betanidin towards peroxyl radicals generated from the azo-initiated oxidation of methyl linoleate in methanol and of a heterogeneous aqueous/soybean phosphatidylcholine liposomal system were studied by monitoring formation of linoleic acid hydroperoxides and consumption of the pigments. Betanin was a weak retarder in methanol and an effective chain breaking antioxidant in the liposomal model, indicating that kinetic solvent effects and partition in lipid bilayers may affect its activity. Betanidin behaved as a chain terminating antioxidant in both models. Kinetic parameters characterizing peroxyl radical-scavenging activity showed that betanidin was more effective than betanin, in terms of both radical-scavenging rate constant and stoichiometric factor, with effectiveness of the same order as vitamin E under comparable conditions. Products identified by spectrophotometric and HPLC techniques indicated reaction of the glucose-substituted monophenol and ortho-diphenol moieties of betanin and betanidin, respectively, and suggested mechanisms of the antioxidant activity. Either betanin or betanidin incorporated in liposomes with α-tocopherol had additive effects, supporting partition of the pigments in the bilayer and lipoperoxyl radical reduction. 相似文献
