The potential for plants to minimize leachate volume and reduce cyanide and fluoride concentrations in groundwater was evaluated. High fluoride and soluble salts in the leachate induced chlorosis or necrosis in the leaf margins on green ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica), yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera), and bald cypress (Taxodium distichum). Hybrid willow (Salix Willow hybrid), sycamore (Platanus sp.), and black willow (Salix nigra) had high rates of transpiration and root growth during the study period. Cyanide in the leachate was removed by plant metabolic processes whereas fluoride accumulated in the leaves. Cyanide and fluoride in landfill leachate can be decreased through phytoremediation.  相似文献

Removal of inorganic nitrogen compounds from wastewaters can be accomplished by a combination of the biological processes of nitrification and denitrification. The information on the microbiota present in denitrifying reactors is still scarce. In the present work the evaluation of the denitrifying microbiota of different reactor sludges was performed by specific activity measurements and MPN count of denitrifiers. We also present the isolation and physiological and phylogenetic characterisation of denitrifying bacteria from the anoxic reactor of a combined system treating landfill leachate. Specific denitrifying activity measurements were faster to perform and more reliable than MPN enumerations. 16S rDNA characterisation of the isolates showed that they belonged to the genera Thauera, Acidovorax and Alcaligenes and were closely related to microorganisms retrieved from ecosystems rich in recalcitrant compounds. Two of the isolates could grow on aromatic compounds as sole carbon source.  相似文献

【背景】城市垃圾渗滤液是一种成分复杂的有机废水,含氮量高,如果未经处理直接排放到环境中会造成严重的环境污染。【目的】筛选可以耐受垃圾渗滤液中高浓度氨氮并高效去除污水中氮素的异养硝化好氧反硝化菌株,为解决垃圾渗滤液的氮素污染提供功能菌株。【方法】从垃圾渗滤液中筛选分离能耐受高氨氮浓度的菌株,通过测定各菌株的脱氮能力,筛选到一株脱氮能力最强的菌株,命名为U1,通过测定16S rRNA基因序列和生理生化特性确定该菌株为铜绿假单胞菌。进一步研究了菌株U1在不同初始氨氮浓度、碳源、转速、初始pH、碳氮比等单因素变量下的脱氮能力,并结合L9(34)正交试验研究了菌株U1的最佳脱氮条件。【结果】分离出一株铜绿假单胞菌并命名为U1。该菌株的最优脱氮条件为:初始氨氮浓度为1 000 mg/L,红糖和柠檬酸三钠的混合碳源,pH 6.0,C/N为10,转速为130 r/min,菌株U1的最大总氮去除率为64.37%,最大氨氮去除率为76.73%。对于总氮和氨氮含量分别是2 345 mg/L和1 473.8 mg/L的垃圾渗滤液,菌株U1最大总氮去除率为27.86%...  相似文献

The aim of this study was to understand the effects of lime and gypsum on nitrogen and carbon turnover of the soil. A pot experiment was conducted in parallel with a field experiment which was set up in 1989 in a declining forest of the French Ardennes. A dystric cambisol, associated with a moder and mull humus separately, was used to study changes in the soil chemistry as a result of added lime and gypsum top-dressing.The lime was applied to the surface of an acid mull humus of an oak (Quercus petraea) stand and of a moder humus of a spruce (Picea abies) stand. A quantity of 2.8 t ha-1 equivalent CaO was supplied as CaCO3, CaCO3+MgO and CaSO4.2H2O. The experiment was installed in an open-air nursery for 20 months, during which the organic carbon and nitrogen in the solution were analysed monthly. They were analysed in the solid phase after 20 months. At the end of this period the changes in the soil and leachate depended mainly on the type of the material added.The leachate was enriched with nitrogen from the third month of the experiment under lime treatments and in the control. The same pattern was found under the two humus types but the magnitude was higher in soil with a mull humus. The nitrogen was mostly leached as NO3 --N in the carbonate treatments and in the control, whereas it was predominantly NH4 +-N under gypsum. The NO3 --N was 50% higher than NH4 +-N in the control and CaCO3, CaCO3+MgO treatments. In the CaSO4 treatment this phenomenon was reversed. The leaching of organic carbon was greater under gypsum than under the other treatments whatever the humus.In the solid phase of the soil (organic layers) the organic carbon and nitrogen concentration decreased significantly after liming, especially in the mull humus. Consequently it induced a decrease in C:N ratio of about 18% with respect to the control.  相似文献

An internal-sedimentation bioreactor was employed to provide biomass feedback and process intensification in a laboratory-scale sulphide-bioprecipitation system for toxic metals (Cd, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, Zn) present in acid leachates from metal-contaminated soil. Biomass feedback was improved by addition of a cationic polymer flocculant and the activity of the sulphate-reducing bacterial culture was increased by the addition of cornsteep in addition to the ethanol used as carbon/energy substrate. A mass-balance was carried out for carbon and sulphur in the system. Sulphate reduction in the reactor was able to remove acidity at moderate sulphate concentrations up to 50 mM although it was insufficient at the highest levels tested. When presented with a simulated toxic metal-containing leachate, the reactor was able to precipitate metals efficiently under all of the conditions of sulphate concentration and pH tested, producing an effluent with metal concentrations suitable for environmental discharge. 垃圾渗滤液中往往含有高浓度的有机物、氨氮等污染物。异养硝化-好氧反硝化型微生物能在脱氮的同时去除部分有机物,但目前对于相关混合菌剂直接应用于垃圾渗滤液处理的研究较少。从垃圾渗滤液中筛选出6株异养硝化-好氧反硝化菌株并组配成复合菌剂F6,探究菌剂在垃圾渗滤液中的脱氮效果。分别以单一菌株和复合菌剂F6为投放原料;以不同碳氮比、活性炭浓度、转速以及微量元素浓度为影响因素,研究复合菌剂对于垃圾渗滤液中氨氮(NH4+-N)、总氮(total nitrogen, TN)、化学需氧量(chemical oxygen demand, COD)的去除性能。结果表明,提高碳氮比和微量元素浓度能够促进复合菌剂F6的降解效果;当接种量为10%、碳氮比为15%时,F6对NH4+-N、TN、COD的去除率分别为74.69%、89.23%和83.50%,与不添加活性炭的处理相比,分别提高了约18.46%、20.97%和7.98%。复合异养硝化-好氧反硝化菌剂F6对高氨氮垃圾渗滤液去除NH4+-N、TN、COD等方面具有良好的应用前景。  相似文献

Information about the response of poplar (Populus spp.) genotypes to landfill leachate irrigation is needed, along with efficient methods for choosing genotypes based on leachate composition. Poplar clones were irrigated during three cycles of phyto-recurrent selection to test whether genotypes responded differently to leachate and water, and to test whether the methodology had merit as a tool for plant selection during remediation. Fifteen below- and above-ground traits were evaluated. Twenty-five clones were tested in cycle 1, while the best l2 genotypes were evaluated in cycles 2 and 3. Eight clones were selected and subsequently tested in an in situ landfill study (cycle 4). Results from cycles 1, 2, and 3 are presented here. Overall, clones responded differently to irrigation treatments, with certain genotypes exhibiting better below- and above-ground growth with water than leachate. However, growth was greater with leachate irrigation for some clones. In addition, differences between treatments within clones decreased with days after planting (DAP). There were no treatment differences for number of leaves, height, and root length at the end of cycle 2 (45 DAP) or cycle 3 (30 DAP). These results detail the extensive variation in clonal responses to leachate irrigation, along with the need and efficacy of using phyto-recurrent selection to choose superior genotypes.  相似文献

Archaeal microbial communities present in municipal solid waste landfill leachates were characterized using a 16S rDNA approach. Phylogenetic affiliations of 239 partial length 16S rDNA sequences were determined. Sequences belonging to the order Methanosarcinales were dominant in the clone library and 65% of the clones belonged to the strictly acetoclastic methanogenic family Methanosaetaceae. Sequences affiliated to the metabolically versatile family Methanosarcinaceae represented 18% of the retrieved sequences. Members of the hydrogenotrophic order Methanomicrobiales were also recovered in limited numbers, especially sequences affiliated to the genera Methanoculleus and Methanofollis. Eleven euryarchaeal and thirteen crenarchaeal sequences (i.e. 10%) were distantly related to any hitherto cultivated microorganisms, showing that archaeal diversity within the investigated samples was limited. Lab-scale incubations were performed with leachates mixed with several methanogenic precursors (acetate, hydrogen, formate, methanol, methylamine). Microbial populations were followed using group specific 16S rRNA targeted fluorescent oligonucleotidic probes. During the incubations with acetate, acetoclastic methanogenesis was rapidly induced and led to the dominance of archaea hybridizing with probe MS1414 which indicates their affiliation to the family Methanosarcinaceae. Hydrogen and formate addition induced an important acetate synthesis resulting from the onset of homoacetogenic metabolism. In these incubations, species belonging to the family Methanosarcinaceae (hybridizing with probe MS1414) and the order Methanomicrobiales (hybridizing with probe EURY496) were dominant. Homoacetogenesis was also recorded for incubations with methanol and methylamines. In the methanol experiment, acetoclastic methanogenesis took place and archaea hybridizing with probe MS821 (specific for Methanosarcina spp.) were observed to be the dominant population. These results confirm that acetoclastic methanogenesis performed by the members of the order Methanosarcinales is predominant over the hydrogenotrophic and methylotrophic pathways in landfill leachates.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess the efficiency of leachate treatment by microbial oxidation in four connected on-site aerated lagoons at a landfill site. The landfill site was found to be in an ageing methanogenic state, producing leachate with relatively low COD (mean value 1740 mg l−1) and relatively high ammonium concentrations (mean value 1241 mg l−1). Removal of COD averaged 75%, with retention times varying from 11 to 254 days. Overall 80% of the N load was removed within the plant, some by volatilisation of ammonium. Microbial community profiling of the water from each lagoon showed a divergent community profile, presumably a reflection of the nutrient status in each lagoon. In municipal solid waste landfills under similar conditions, leachate treatment through a facultative aerobic system in which sequential aerobic and anaerobic microbial oxidations occurred can readily be achieved using a simple two-lagoon system, suggesting this technology can be economic to install and simple to run.  相似文献
