Three pairs of nonspiking giant interneurons (NGIs; G1, G2, and G3) of the crayfish brain responded with depolarizing and hyperpolarizing graded potentials to body tilt in roll to the ipsi- and contralateral sides in the dark. The higher and the larger the angle of body tilt, the larger was the amplitude of the geotactic responses. In ipsilaterally statocystectomized animals, all the NGIs responded with hyperpolarizing potentials only to the contralateral side-down tilt, whereas in contralaterally statocystectomized animals, they responded with depolarizing potentials only to the ipsilateral side-down tilt. In bilaterally statocystectomized animals, none of the NGIs responded to body tilt in the dark, but in the presence of an overhead light, they exhibited depolarizing and hyperpolarizing potentials in response to body tilt to the ipsi-and contralateral sides, respectively. All the NGIs responded with depolarizing and hyperpolarizing graded potentials to illumination of the contra- and ipsilateral eyes, respectively. The amplitude of these visual responses, however, varied in association with the amplitude of the geotactic response produced by body tilt. These results indicate that the NGIs integrate the sensory inputs from eyes and statocysts and that the interaction between sensory inputs from the left and right sensory organs with either the same modality or with different modalities enhance the directional sensitivity of NGIs as premotoneurons in the compensatory oculomotor system.  相似文献

蔗龟是云南甘蔗上的1种主要地下害虫。经1987~1991年系统研究,大等鳃金龟、暗褐鳃角金龟、突背蔗金龟是云南危害甘蔗的优势种。前两种主要以幼虫为害根部,造成减产,严重的无收;第三种主要以成虫咬食蔗苗基部,造成枯心死亡。3种均1年发生1代。成虫有趋光性,初孵幼虫喜食已腐烂的有机质。在沙壤土、粘土较重土壤虫口较多;宿根年限越长受害愈重。蔗稻轮作;7~8月雨季用水淹灌蔗地;结合松、培土每亩施用3%甲基异柳磷颗粒剂4~5kg,防治效果达90%左右。  相似文献

A biophysical model of the experimentally observed calcium action potential (CAP) in squid giant synapse is proposed. Whereas the inclusion of the inward calcium current in the Hodgkin-Huxley model can generate the rising phase of CAP, to account for the observed termination of the action potential, a repolarizing process needs to be introduced. Adding a term representing Ca-activated K current, the observed features of CAP can be reproduced. However, one feature of CAP, namely the gradual shortening of the plateau duration on repetitive stimulation, cannot be simulated by this model. In this paper, it is proved that both the termination of the action potential and the gradual shortening of the plateau cannot be accounted for by inclusion of a single repolarizing process. One more repolarizing process, namely a slow voltage-dependent Ca-inactivation, is therefore proposed to account for all the observed features of CAP.  相似文献

Semen from 4 wild-caught giant pandas (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) held at the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda was collected (22 samples during 1991–1993) by electroejaculation, and evaluated for use in artificial insemination. Semen characteristics (mean ± SD) recorded were as follows: semen volume–1.5 ± .9 ml (range—0.3–3.5); sperm density 1.5 ± 0.1 × 109/ml (range—0.24–4.2); motility 79 ± 10% (range—60–95); abnormal sperm 14 ± 5% (range—10–27); and pH 7.1 ± 0.2 (range—6.7–7.5). There were significant differences from year to year (P < 0.05) in semen volume collected and in the percentage abnormal sperm in 1993 compared to other years. There were no significant differences among semen produced from the four different pandas. Data collected were similar to reports for other giant pandas, and semen from all 4 giant pandas was considered suitable for use in artificial insemination. © 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

The cotton root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita acrita, reproduced on the roots of grain sorghum, causing syncytia in the cortex or stele of lateral roots. Giant cells developed either singly with few nuclei or in groups with many nuclei. Giant cells that developed in groups appeared the same as those which developed singly. The pericycle and endodermis were interrupted at the site of nematode invasion. Large areas of these tissues were absent for one-third of the circumference of the stele and extended 1.5 mm longitudinally along the root. In the area where pericycle and endodernris were absent, the parenchyma of the cortex extended to the vascular elements, and abnormal xylem surrounding giant cells extended into the region of the cortex. Root-knot galls appeared on sorghum roots as elongate swellings, discrete knots, or swellings with root proliferation. Galls were not observed on brace roots.  相似文献

Summary The peroxidatic (PO) activity of monocytes differentiating into macrophages, epithelioid cells, and multinucleated giant cells in subcutaneous granulomas was investigated with three different media for the demonstration of PO activity. Irrespective of the stage of differentiation, these cells did not show PO activity in the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) or nuclear envelope. In addition, it was found that the morphologically characteristic types of granule of the various cells of the monocyte line (the primary granules and secondary granules of monocytes, the macrophage granules, and the epithelioid cell granules), all have distinct cytochemical characteristics.Monocytes lose their primary and secondary granules during differentiation into mature macrophages. Simultaneously, the granules of both types become elongated and the secondary granules lose their halo. In contrast to monocytes, mature macrophages may contain a few microperoxisomes. During the differentiation of macrophages into epithelioid cells or multinucleated giant cells there is an increase in the number of microperoxisomes.  相似文献

Summary We have studied the influence of the K+-current mutations eag and Sh and the Na+-current mutation nap ts upon two well-defined neural circuits that underlie flight and an escape response in Drosophila, recording from dorsal longitudinal and tergotrochanteral muscles. Mutations of Sh and eag affected refractory period and following frequency, but not latency, of the jump-and-flight escape response. The nap ts mutation altered these 3 physiological parameters of the jump (TTM), but not the flight (DLM), branch, suggesting differences in the vulnerability of different circuit components to the mutation. In contrast to their interaction in some other systems, nap ts did not counteract the effects of eag and Sh upon these physiological parameters in eag Sh; nap triple mutants.In eag Sh double mutants, in which multiple K+ currents may be diminished, flight muscles showed abnormal rhythmic activity not associated with flight, and some flies also had an abnormal wings-down posture. The low-frequency spikes probably originated in the flight muscle motoneurons, but the coordination between muscle fibers during this non-flight activity was distinct from flight. Nevertheless, in spite of the presence of this non-flight activity in resting eag Sh flies, those animals with normal wing posture were also able to fly, with a normal pattern of muscle activity. This suggests that in these mutants, the DLM motoneuron circuit is able to switch between two patterns of output, non-flight activity and flight.
