Effect of lithium injections through chronically implanted cannulae into the bilateral suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) on the circadian rhythm of food intake was investigated in the rat. It was observed that the circadian rhythm was disrupted by injections of lithium at the beginning of the light as well as the dark phase of the LD cycle. In either case the percentage of the food consumed during the 12-hr light period increased while that during the dark period decreased without any significant change in the total daily intake. Disruptions in the circadian rhythm of food intake failed to show any dose-response relation. Injections of saline into the SCN or lithium into the nearby SCN area did not produce a disruption of the circadian rhythm of food intake.  相似文献

生物量在营养级上的分布作为一种生态系统的指示指标,可以指示因人类干扰和环境变化导致的生态系统的改变,揭示生态系统功能的差异性。调查了冬季大亚湾不同区域各粒级浮游生物的生物量大小及其氮稳定同位素丰度比值(δ15N)与环境因子的关系,通过构建营养级谱比较了大亚湾不同区域浮游食物网结构的差异。研究结果显示,浮游生物的δ15N值基本随着粒径的增大而增加,但100-212 μm粒级的δ15N值为5.08‰,略低于1.2-100 μm粒级的5.58‰。> 500 μm 粒级的δ15N值最大,平均为8.16‰。在湾口和敞水带的S1、S9站各粒级的δ15N都要小于其他站位,而各粒级δ15N的最大值一般都出现在湾底的S8站。在各粒级颗粒物中,1.2-100 μm粒级的δ15N最适合用来指示水体的环境状况,受陆源输入影响较小的海域的δ15N值小。生物量与氮稳定同位素构建的营养级谱的斜率与总溶解氮的浓度和氮磷比呈显著负相关关系。处于湾口的站位的营养级谱的谱线要更陡峭一些,表明该处捕食者/被捕食者的比率更低。  相似文献

为研究温度对小斑熊虫Milnesium tardigradum食量和食物消化率的影响,以轮虫为食物,将20只小斑熊虫分成两组,每组10只,分别在20℃和5℃下驯化饲养10天,并在各自驯化温度下进行实验观察。对实验结果的方差分析和t-检验表明,小斑熊虫的食量随温度的升高而显著增加,20℃下饲养的个体取食轮虫的个数比5℃下的多0.84个/天;小斑熊虫的食物消化率随温度的升高而显著增加,20℃下的小斑熊虫消化率比5℃下的快24 h。  相似文献

Sensory traits, such as juiciness and tenderness, are known to be important to the consumer and thus will influence their consumption of meat, specifically beef. These traits are difficult to measure and often require the use of taste panels to assess the complex parameters involved in the eating experience. Such panels are potentially a large source of measurement error, which may reduce the effectiveness of breeding programmes based on the data they generate. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of such taste panel-derived sensory traits as well as calculating genetic parameters and residual correlations for these traits along with a further set of traditional carcass quality traits. The study examined a sample of 443 Aberdeen Angus-cross animals collected from 14 breeder-finisher farms throughout Scotland. To assess the quality of the taste panel measurements, three consistency statistics were calculated: (i) panel-member consistency, i.e. the extent to which an individual panel member varied in their scoring for a given trait over the period of the experiment; (ii) repeatability, i.e. the consistency with which an individual panel member was able to score a trait on repeated samples from the same animal; and (iii) reproducibility, i.e. the extent to which taste panel members agreed with each other when scoring a trait. These consistency statistics were moderately high, particularly for panel-member consistency and reproducibility, with values ranging from 0.48 to 0.81 and 0.43 to 0.73 respectively. Estimated heritabilities were low for most of the sensory taste-panel-evaluated traits where the maximum value was 0.16 for overall liking. Residual correlations were high between many of the closely related sensory traits, although few significant correlations were found between the carcass quality data and meat quality traits.  相似文献

Global climate change scenarios predict lake water temperatures to increase up to 4°C and extreme weather events, including heat waves and large temperature fluctuations, to occur more frequently. Such changes may result in a reorganization of the plankton community structure, causing shifts in diversity and structure toward a community dominated by fewer species that are more adapted to endure warmer and irregular temperature conditions. We designed a long‐term (8 months) mesocosm experiment to explore how ambient water temperature (C: control), induced increased temperature (T: +4°C), and temperature fluctuations (F: ±4°C relative to T) change phytoplankton phenology, taxonomical diversity, and community structure, and how such changes affected zooplankton abundance and composition. Synthesis. Our results show that T and F relative to C significantly decreased phytoplankton diversity. Moreover, there was a clear effect of the temperature treatments (T and F) on phytoplankton size structure that resulted in a significantly lower growth of large species (i.e., large Chlorophyta) compared to C. Decreased diversity and evenness in the T and F treatments pushed the community toward the dominance of only a few phytoplankton taxa (mainly Cyanobacteria and Chlorophyta) that are better adapted to endure warmer and more irregular temperature conditions. The observed shift toward Cyanobacteria dominance may affect trophic energy transfer along the aquatic food web.  相似文献

芙新姬小蜂和潜蝇姬小蜂均为强卵育型(synovigenic)寄生蜂,成虫具有产卵寄生致死、寄主取食致死和寄主叮蛰直接致死3种寄主致死行为。为了明确成虫补充非寄主食物营养对2种姬小蜂控害潜力/控害行为的影响,本文比较研究了分别提供寄主食物和寄主食物+非寄主食物(10%葡萄糖)条件下的2种姬小蜂在初羽化前期(前6 d)内对美洲斑潜蝇幼虫的致死行为的影响。结果显示:在仅提供寄主食物时,芙新姬小蜂的寄生、取食和总体致死量均显著的高于潜蝇姬小蜂,但是直接致死能力却弱于后者;补充非寄主食物和仅提供寄主食物处理相比,两种寄生蜂的寄生量,取食量和总致死量均呈下降趋势。该研究显示:在初羽化前期,取食寄主食物的雌蜂比取食寄主食物+葡萄糖的雌蜂具有更强的致死能力。  相似文献

Phagotrophy by pigmented flagellates is known from the literature but has recently been rediscovered in the context of microbial food webs. Particle ingestion rates were found to be equivalent for pigmented and nonpigmented microflagellates in both field and laboratory studies. Ingestion rates of the chrysophytes Ochromonas danica, O. minuta, and Poterioochromonas malhamensis, the dinoflagellate Peridinium inconspicuum, and the cryptophytes Cryptomonas ovata and C. erosa were compared with those of two nonpigmented Monas species using 0.57 μm polystyrene beads as a food source. Ingestion rates were 0.31 to 3.17 beads/cell/h and filtration rates were 10−7 to 10−8 ml/cell/h with no detectable difference between pigmented and nonpigmented forms. Ingestion rates in unpigmented Monas species showed a linear increase with increasing particle concentration from 1.9 × 106 to 1.6 × 107 beads/ml. Light and DOC levels in the range of those encountered by phytoflagellates in the field also influenced laboratory measurements of bead ingestion by Poterioochromonas malhamensis. Ingestion rates decreased and photosynthesis increased over the natural PAR light range from 0 to 1800 microeinsteins/s/m2. At 40 microeinsteins/s/m2 maximum ingestion rates and high rates of photosynthesis occurred simultaneously. Ingestion rates decreased above 4 mgC/l supplied as glucose. DOC levels commonly occurring in Lake Oglethorpe range from 3.5 to 10.0 mgC/l. These studies suggest that mixotrophy, the trophic utilization of particulate food and dissolved organic matter as well as photosynthetically fixed organic matter, is a balanced process that can be regulated by environmental conditions. In field studies during a chrysophyte bloom, phytoflagellate grazing exceeded heterotrophic microflagellate grazing and constituted up to 55% of the bactivory of all microflagellates, ciliates, rotifers, and crustaceans combined. Neither bacterial abundance, light nor temperature were good predicters of grazing rates for the phagotrophic phytoflagellate association as a whole during this unstratified period. Phagotrophs are often most abundant at the metalimnetic plate during stratification.  相似文献
