developed from the extrafloral nectaries positioned at the base of leaf petioles of the initial explants. Micropropagation
of cv. Charger was improved by culture on a Quoirin and Lepoivre and Woody Plant-based medium, and by supplementing the medium
with 1-phenyl-3-(1, 2, 3-thiadiazol-5yl)urea (thidiazuron). Poor shoot production by F12/1 on 1, 3, 5-trihydroxybenzene (phloroglucinol)-free
media was not improved by up to 18 months of regular subculture. Study of cv. F12/1 showed that shoots produced on a MS-based
medium with 1 mM phloroglucinol, 0.49 μM indolebutyric acid, 4.4 μM benzyladenine (BA) and 0.29 μM gibberellic acid (GA3), were easier to root over several subcultures than shoots produced on a similar medium with no GA3 and only 2.2 μM BA, but only in a rooting medium supplemented with 1 mM phloroglucinol. 相似文献

Using radio telemetry, the present study simulated the escape of 48 adult rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss from a net-cage fish farm in the Lake Övre Fryken, Sweden. The post-release dispersal of O. mykiss was fast, showed long-range dispersal behaviour, low winter survival and lacked the ability to find suitable spawning habitats. The concept of the foetal/developmental origins of adult disease has been around for ~20 years and from the original epidemiological studies in human populations much more evidence has accumulated from the many studies in animal models. The majority of these have focused upon the role of early dietary intake before conception, through gestation and/or lactation and subsequent interactions with the postnatal environment, e.g. dietary and physical activity exposures. Whilst a number of theoretical models have been proposed to place the experimental data into a biological context, the underlying phenomena remain the same; developmental deficits (of single (micro) nutrients) during critical or sensitive periods of tissue growth alter the developmental pathway to ultimately constrain later functional capacity when the individual is adult. Ageing, without exception, exacerbates any programmed sequelae. Thus, adult phenotypes that have been relatively easy to characterise (e.g. blood pressure, insulin sensitivity, body fat mass) have received most attention in the literature. To date, relatively few studies have considered the effect of differential early environmental exposures on reproductive function and fecundity in predominantly mono-ovular species such as the sheep, cow and human. The available evidence suggests that prenatal insults, undernutrition for example, have little effect on lifetime reproductive capacity despite subtle effects on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and gonadal progenitor cell complement. The postnatal environment is clearly important, however, since neonatal/adolescent growth acceleration (itself not independent from prenatal experience) has been shown to significantly influence fecundity in farm animals. The present paper will expand these interesting areas of investigation and review the available evidence regarding developmental programming of reproduction and fertility. However, it appears there is little strong evidence to indicate that offspring fertility and reproductive senescence in the human and in farm animal species are overtly affected by prenatal nutrient exposure. Nevertheless, it is clear that the developing gonad is sensitive to its immediate environment but more detailed investigation is required to specifically test the long-term consequences of nutritional perturbations during pregnancy on adult reproductive well-being. 相似文献

Hall, Department of Environmental Studies, State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, 1 Forestry Drive, Syracuse, NY 13210 Biofuel production systems are sometimes claimed to be able to fill in for future fossil fuel shortages as well as to decrease carbon dioxide emissions and global warming. As such, they are often promoted as a “green” alternative to fossil fuels. I present a comprehensive, system-based case study of biofuel production from maize or corn (Zea mays L.) and evaluate it critically in this review. The case study is taken as an example of the comprehensive approach that I suggest for any energy crop. I conclude that the biofuel option on a large scale is not a viable alternative based on economic, energy and eMergy (amount of available energy [exergy] of one form [usually solar] that is directly or indirectly required to provide a given flow or storage of exergy or matter) analyses of the case study data and estimated possible improvement of yield and efficiency. This is true for developed countries due to their huge energy demand compared with what biofuel options are able to supply as well as for developing countries due to the low yield of their agriculture and competition for land and water for food production. However, biofuels may contribute to optimizing the energy and resource balance of agricultural, livestock, or industrial production systems at an appropriate scale. I present a proposal to integrate ethanol production with industrial activities within a “zero emission framework” as a suggestion for optimization strategies capable of making the biofuel option more sustainable and profitable in those cases where it is appropriate. 相似文献

Increasing the inputs of nutrients has played a major role in increasing the supply of food to a continually growing world population. However, focusing attention on the most important nutrients, such as nitrogen (N), has in some cases led to nutrient imbalances, some excess applications especially of N, inefficient use and large losses to the environment with impacts on air and water quality, biodiversity and human health. In contrast, food exports from the developing to the developed world are depleting soils of nutrients in some countries. Better management of all essential nutrients is required that delivers sustainable agriculture and maintains the necessary increases in food production while minimizing waste, economic loss and environmental impacts. More extensive production systems typified by 'organic farming' may prove to be sustainable. However, for most of the developed world, and in the developing world where an ever-growing population demands more food, it will be essential to increase the efficiency of nutrient use in conventional systems. Nutrient management on farms is under the control of the land manger, the most effective of whom will already use various decision supports for calculating rates of application to achieve various production targets. As free-living sea-lice larvae are difficult to sample directly, lice abundances on fish have recently been used to study larvae in the water. In the KLV problem, juvenile wild salmon migrate past a salmon farm, and the change of infection with distance along the migration route is used to estimate larvae production from the farm. In the farm problem, time-varying infection of sea-cage fish is used to estimate the time-variation of free-living larvae in waters near the farm. Both inverse problems require good forward models for infection. In the farm problem, hosts are relatively large and lice pathogenesis is seldom mortal, whereas in the KLV problem hosts are small and lice-induced host mortality can affect lice abundance; thus, infection models for the farm problem are special cases of models for the KLV problem. Here I give an infection model for the KLV problem that explicitly includes lice clumping and host mortality, showing that Krkosek et al. (Proc R Soc B 272:689-696, 2005) (KLV) probably underestimated larvae production by the salmon farm, and further, that if lice development rates were known from laboratory data, lice abundance field data could be directly inverted for lice-induced host mortality during migration. If lice-induced host mortality is negligible, or if lice are Poisson distributed, infection models of arbitrary complexity reduce to Erlang models. The paper analyses the results of serological examinations of domestic, farm and free-living animals from different regions
of Slovakia, Southern Moravia, Southern Bohemia and Southern Poland using ELISA, indirect hemagglutination assay (IHA) and
Western blot (WB). In Slovakia, significantly higher seroprevalence was recorded in dogs (33.5%) than in horses (26.5%), cattle
(22.5%), sheep (16.6%) and rodents (17.8%) by using a mixture of Borrelia garinii, B. afzelii, B. burgdorferi sensu stricto (s.s.) antigens in ELISA. Seroprevalence in horses was significantly higher than in sheep and rodents, and
seroprevalence in cattle was significantly higher than in rodents. By using IHA in free-living species, the highest seropositivity
rates were detected in fallow deer (40.7%) compared with moufflons (16.6%), pheasants (8.0%) and pigeons (1.2%). When testing
sera of horses, dogs and cattle from Slovakia by using different Slovak B. burgdorferi sensu lato (s.l.) isolates as antigens in ELISA, significantly higher seroprevalence of anti-Borrelia IgG antibodies and consistency of positive and negative findings was detected in comparison when American isolates were used.
In WB analyses using the Eurocarpathian antigens, dog sera from Eastern Slovakia and Southern Moravia showed statistically
insignificant differences in sensitivity and consistency of positive and negative findings. By using different methods and
antigens in the same group of dog sera, significant differences in seroprevalence were only found in IHA with a mixture of
Euroamerican B.b.s.l and WB CB26 B.b.s.s. In addition to other factors, the complexity of the standardization of the assay system with regard to the genetic and

分别以香根草 (Vetiveriazizanioides)和风车草 (Cyperusalternifolius)为植被 ,按 1.0m× 0 .5m×0 .8m建立人工湿地 ,通过 4季测试 ,研究其对猪场废水有机物的净化功能及其随季节、进水浓度及水力停留时间变化的规律 .结果表明 ,4个季节香根草或风车草人工湿地对COD和BOD有较稳定的去除效果 ,两湿地抗有机负荷冲击能力强 .在春季 ,停留时间 1~ 2d ,COD和BOD去除率分别为 70 %和 80 %;在夏季 ,进水COD高达 10 0 0~ 140 0mg·L-1情况下 ,COD去除率接近 90 %;在秋季 ,停留时间 1~ 2d ,COD和BOD去除率分别为 5 0 %~ 6 0 %和 5 0 %;在冬季 ,进水COD达 10 0 3mg·L-1情况下 ,COD去除率在 70 %以上 .COD、BOD和SS的去除率在两湿地间没有显著差异 .人工湿地污染物 (Y)随水力停留时间 (t)延长的降解遵从指数方程规律Yt=Y0 ·e( -kt) .在相同停留时间时 ,随进水污染物浓度 (x)提高的出水污染物浓度 (y)的回归关系遵从直线方程规律 y =a+bx . 相似文献
