飞行对粘虫体内甘油酯积累与咽侧体活性的影响   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
研究了粘虫Mythimna separata (Walker)成虫飞行对甘油酯的恢复、保幼激素的滴度及飞行肌降解的影响, 结果表明,不同日龄粘虫的飞行活动对其能源物质的积累及保幼激素分泌产生不同的影响。1日龄蛾的飞行对粘虫这两方面产生的影响最大,其飞行个体能源物质的积累明显高于未飞行的对照个体; 3日龄飞行个体的能源物质积累与对照相当; 但5日龄飞行个体则很难达到对照水平。1日龄飞行个体咽侧体活性在36 h后明显高于对照,60 h后已是对照的10倍,108 h达到其峰值; 3日龄飞行个体咽侧体的活性稍高于对照,但差别不显著; 5日龄飞行个体的咽侧体活性则稍低于对照。不同日龄飞行对飞行肌的降解也产生不同的影响。1日龄飞行个体的飞行肌在飞行后6 天已经明显低于对照。3、5日龄的飞行活动对其飞行肌降解的影响不明显。因此推测,粘虫咽侧体活化的关键时期可能在羽化后1~3 天之间。  相似文献

The perisperm of seeds of Agrostemma githago contains starch reserves which constitute 40% of the dry weight of the mature seed. These starch reserves were mostly broken down between 48 and 96 h after initiation of imbibition. (Germination occurred after 24 h.) The mode of starch degradation showed close parallels with the breakdown of the starchy endosperm in cereals. Thus, between 24 and 96 h the cotyledons secreted -amylase (EC 3.2.1.1) whereas other degradative enzymes in the perisperm, -amylase (EC 3.2.1.2) and maltase (EC 3.2.1.20), appeared to originate in the perisperm itself. Cotyledons secreted similar levels of -amylase in the presence and absence of exogenous starch, indicating that secretion is an internal developmental event of the embryo. By isoelectric focussing the secreted -amylase was separated into two isoenzymes. Synopsis The African Great Lakes consist of large, deep rift valley lakes (e.g. Malawi & Tanganyika) and shallower lakes between the Eastern and Western Rifts (e.g. Victoria). They are a group comparable in size to the North American Great Lakes, but are old. Most are seasonally thermally stratified, and wind is the decisive factor that determines the annual cycle of cooling and mixing. Lakes Tanganyika, Malawi and Kivu are meromictic, with deep relict hypolimnia. Large magnitudes and time scales of periodic internal motion, where these have been measured, appear unique among lakes. These lakes harbour the world's richest lacustrine fish faunas, and the family Cichlidae provides the supreme example of geographically circumscribed vertebrate evolution. The lakes provide a unique comparative series of natural laboratories for evolutionary studies. Primary production is generally high, but in the deeper lakes standing stocks of plankton and of small fish species are low. These pelagic populations are characterised by very high P:B ratios. The fisheries are productive and of socio-economic importance. Large-scale mechanised fishing is not compatible with the survival of the diverse fish communities. Cichlids appear especially vulnerable to unselective fishing. Aquatic reserves might offer a means of survival for at least some communities. Various pollution threats exist. Because water retention times are long, extremely long for some deep lakes, and flushing rates are low, the lakes are vulnerable to pollution which would be long-lasting. Introductions of alien fishes have mostly had undesirable or disastrous results. While the faunas are one of the significant natural heritages of mankind, their conservation must realistically be linked to the legitimate development of the lakes for the well-being of the people who live there. Scientific value alone will not protect the lakes. Just as survival of African terrestrial wildlife in extensive reserves depends heavily upon tourism, so also might the cichlid flocks in underwater reserves. Greater interest from the international scientific community is needed to further rational development and conservation of these great lakes.Invited Editorial  相似文献

Early conservation centred on legislation to prevent species declines. It now includes habitat conseivation, through the establishment of reserves and land management practices in the wider countryside. This need for a broader approach is increasingly acknowledged and presents great opportunities.

Egg size was measured at different rates of egg laying in three polyphagous carabid species, known to be useful predators of cereal aphids; the small Bembidion lampros Herbst and the medium-sized Pterostichus cupreus L. and P. melanarius Illiger. Variations in fecundity, as well as the ability of the medium-sized species to also build up fat reserves, were obtained when beetles were subjected to different dietary regimes consisting of aphids, or foods with a lower or higher protein content. Egg size was found to be dependent on the rate of egg laying within a species. A diet of cereal aphids appeared to be adequate for egg production in these polyphagous carabids, but female P. cupreus were unable to build up fat reserves when they ingested aphids contaminated with the aphicide pirimicarb. Beetles were able to devote resources to more and larger eggs (B. lampros), or to larger eggs and/or fat reserves (P. melanarius/P. cupreus) when given access to a carbohydrate-rich food with low protein content. The highest rate of egg laying was obtained when female P. cupreus and P. melanarius were given a more varied diet at frequent intervals; including regular shifts between unsprayed aphids, carbohydrate-rich food and protein-rich maggots. Within the varied diet treatment a negative relationship was obtained between egg size and egg number among similar-sized individuals of P. cupreus and P. melanarius; females producing the largest number also laid the smallest eggs. Egg size affected larval survival, since first instars hatching from large eggs were found to survive longer than those hatching from small eggs. The influence of differences in food intake on reproduction, maintenance metabolism, and survival of fieldinhabiting carabids is discussed.  相似文献

The mobilization of N from reserve organs (leaves, roots, branches and trunk) to developing new organs was studied at different moments of the growth cycle. Three-year-old Valencia Late orange trees (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osbeck) were grown individually outdoors in 150 L containers filled with siliceous sand. Trees were irrigated with a nutrient solution labelled with potassium nitrate with an enrichment of 4 atom 15N % excess during a complete growth cycle. At the following year, plants were irrigated with unlabelled nutrient solution, and harvested throughout the growth cycle (flowering, fruit set, second flush, third flush, and dormancy). Total N and 15N analyses were carried out in the different organs of the plants.The highest amounts of N were found in leaves and roots (33–42% and 30–38%, respectively). Distribution of 15N was similar to that obtained for total N (42 and 39% of total 15N in leaves and roots, respectively) as is expected after a long period of labelling. Old leaves were the main reserve organs, contributing a 40–50% of the total N exported. Roots and aerial woody tissues exported between 30–35% and 15–25% of total reserve N, respectively. N exported by old leaves was approximately 57% of the N accumulated during the preceding year, while roots translocated 40% and trunk plus branches 35%. More than 70% of N accumulated in new organs during spring came from N stored in old organs.  相似文献

Seasonal patterns of growth, lipid deposition and lipid depletion were studied in anadromous Arctic charr from a north Norwegian population. Samples were collected in late May when fish were migrating between fresh water and the sea, and in mid-July when the fish re-entered fresh water. A sample of maturing fish captured in mid-July was held in captivity until late September to assess lipid mobilization linked to the final stages of maturation. The fish increased substantially in weight during their 40–50-day summer residence in sea water (immatures from c . 300 to 600 g; maturing fish from c . 500 to 800 g), and body lipid stores were increased approximately fivefold. The carcass (head, skeleton and skin) was the major lipid depot, accounting for c . 50% of the total lipid content when the fish re-entered fresh water from the sea. The muscle of the ascending charr contained 35–40% of the body lipids, whereas the gut and liver each held 4–5%. Body lipid decreased 30–40% during the period between the re-entry of the fish to fresh water and spawning; although lipids were depleted from all depots the carcass and muscle were quantitatively the most important. By the time of spawning, the gonads of the females held almost 25% of the body lipid, whereas in the males the gonads accounted for <3% of the total lipids. Females lost c . 80% of their body lipid during spawning and overwintering, and, consequently, the lipid depots were severely depleted by the early spring. By contrast, lipid depletion in the males amounted to 50–55% of total lipid in the same period. These data suggest that the combination of spawning and overwintering in fresh water imposes a greater load on the females than on the males. It may be that the severity of the depletion prevents females from spawning in successive years.  相似文献

Depending on the species, coppicing (decapitation) may promote vigorous growth (Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn), or cause rapid senescence and death (Eucalyptus obliqua L'Herit). In seedlings of the latter species, the presence of a small upwardly directed shoot on the decapitated stump prevents or delays decline. Coppiced seedlings of E. camaldulensis and E. obliqua, with and without a remaining shoot, were analyzed for starch and soluble sugars (with the anthrone method), gibberellin-like substances (GAs) and cytokinin-like substances (by bioassay), and ethylene (by gas-liquid chromatography) before and after decapitation. Levels of soluble sugars declined similarly in both varieties of eucalypts, and starch reserves appeared adequate for sprouting, and did not diminish following decapitation of the susceptible species. Decapitation did not markedly alter the relatively high amounts of GAs in roots and shoots of E. obliqua, the susceptible species, although increased levels of Gas were observed in the stumps of seedlings left with 1 shoot after decapitation. The overall levels of GaS were relatively low in the roots and stems of the resistant E. camaldulensis, but higher in the shoots. Marked qualitative changes in GAs with decapitation were apparent in the shoots of E. camaldulensis. A single major GA peak occurred prior to decapitation but afer decapitation several additional peaks of GA-like activity appeared. Cytokinin-like activity was initially low in all tissues, but increased dramatically in stump and shoot tissue following decapitation. Increases ranged from approximately 5-fold (stump tissue of either species, minus-shoot treatment) to approximately 40-fold (shoot tissue of the resistant E. camaldulensis seedlings left with 1 shoot). In both E. camaldulensis and E. obliqua ethylene production increased to a peak 7 days after decapitation provided a shoot had been retained. This ethylene peak precedes a marked upturning of the retained shoot, and was not present in the stumps of totally decapitated seedlings. For totally decapitated seedlings ethylene evolution in E. obliqua (the susceptible species), but not E. camaldulensis (the resistant species), had ceased by 15 days.  相似文献

Wheat plants were grown at a day/night temperature of 18/13°C under glasshouse conditions. Twenty-two d after anthesis, one set of plants was shaded to 50% of the normal photon fluence rate, another was 'degrained' by selective spikelet removal which left only the grains in the five central spikelets; a further set was left as control. Individual plants were harvested at days 22, 30 or 42 after anthesis. Extracts from the peduncle and the penultimate internode were prepared to determine the activities of sucrose phosphate synthase, sucrose synthase, fructan exohydrolase and acid invertase, and to assess the concentration of hexose sugars, sucrose and fructans. Measurements were also made of ear and individual grain weights, and stem f. wt and d. wt. There was a decline in the amount of fructans with time, more pronounced in 'shaded' (source-limited) than in control plants. By contrast, in 'degrained' (sink-limited) plants, the amount of fructans in the stem initially rose, then decreased, with a concomitant increase in the amount of fructose. The shifts in sugar content of the wheat culm reflected both the sink demand of the ear and source activity. The activity of fructan exohydrolase correlated with the carbohydrate changes. Under limited photosynthate assimilation, the mobilization of fructans from the internodes towards the ear was related to an increase in this enzyme, whereas the other enzymes played a less direct role in the mobilization of fructan reserves from the wheat stem.  相似文献
