The progressive nature of atrial fibrillation (AF) has been demonstrated in numerous experimental as well as clinical investigations. Electrical remodeling (shortening of atrial refractoriness) develops within the first days of AF and contributes to the increase in stability of the arrhythmia. However, "domestication of AF" must also depend on other mechanisms since the stability of AF continues to increase after electrical remodeling has been completed. Chronic atrial stretch induces activation of numerous signaling pathways leading to cellular hypertrophy, fibroblast proliferation and tissue fibrosis. The resulting electro-anatomical substrate is characterized by increased non-uniform anisotropy and local conduction heterogeneities facilitating reentry in the dilated atria. Atrial fibrosis may lead to disruption of the electrical side-to-side junctions between muscle bundles. This can result in electrical dissociation between neighboring muscle bundles, i.e. they become activated out-of-phase. Recent mapping studies in goats with persistent AF showed that electrical dissociation can not only occur between neighboring muscle bundles but also in the third dimension, i.e. between the epicardial layer and the endocardial bundle network. Such endo-epicardial dissociation will significantly increase the number of wavefronts which can simultaneously be present in the atrial wall. This article reviews data suggesting a role of endo-epicardial dissociation in dilated and fibrillating atria, for the self-perpetuating nature of AF as well as its possible implications for therapeutic interventions.  相似文献

用PEG6000模拟干旱对山黧豆进行胁迫。结果发现,胁迫初期(0~48 h),突然的水分亏缺使气孔导度(Sc)和蒸腾速率(Tr)迅速下降,而净光合速率(Pn)和水分有效利用率(WUE)基本维持稳定。胁迫后期(48~108 h),上述四个光合指标均不同程度地向对照水平恢复;脯氨酸和相对电导率(REC)受胁迫强度影响较小,但与胁迫时间呈明显正相关,分别在48和60 h增幅最大,而且当REC上升至对照的50%左右时,脯氨酸含量已达对照的14倍之多。由此认为,山黧豆可能主要通过迅速减小ScTr以及大量而急剧的积累脯氨酸来减轻干旱所造成的伤害。  相似文献

The present paper reports case study results of the risk assessment of transgenic Bt cotton on a non-target pest, cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii. Several types of techniques, i.e., electrical penetration graph (EPG), light and electron microscopy, bioassays and chemical analysis, were applied to investigate physical and chemical leaf factors of 2 transgenic Bt cotton lines (GK12 and GK19) and their pa-rental non-Bt cotton line (Simian3) associated with searching and feeding behaviors of cotton aphids on leaves or leaf extracts of cotton plants. EPG results showed that there were some differences among behaviors of cotton aphids on 2 Bt cotton and 1 non-Bt cotton lines. Cotton aphids performed similarly to leaf surface extracts from 3 cotton lines; and leaf surface chemicals, mainly volatiles and waxes, were almost identical in the components and concentrations among the cotton lines. However, three cotton lines were quite different from each other in the densities of certain kinds of covering trichomes. Therefore, the relationships between the physical characteristics and the searching behaviors of cotton aphids on the three cotton lines were constructed as the regression equations. Glandular trichomes and covering trichomes with 5 branches influenced the cotton aphids' searching behaviors effectively; and other trichomes with other branches affected aphids in varying ways. These results demonstrated that leaf surface physical factors of transgenic Bt cotton lines different from their parental non-Bt line could affect the penetration behaviors of non-target cotton aphids. Cotton aphids penetrate and feed more easily on two Bt cotton lines than on the non-Bt cotton line.  相似文献

China is one of the largest countries with huge amount of saline-sodic soil. How to ameliorate these lands is a hotspot in China. Through measurement of soil salinity, pH value and seed germination and growth status of cabbage seedlings, 17 kinds of krilium were added to experimented soil to evaluate their effects on amelioration of heavy saline-sodic soil. Firstly, among these 17 kinds of krilium, 11 (HPMA, gypsum, HEDP, T225, PAPEMP, MA-AA, ATMP, AA/AMPS, PAA, charcoal and BHMTPMPA) were effective agents and could effectively induce seed germination without any germination phenomena in the control saline-sodic soil. HPMA was the best one in ameliorating saline-sodic soil, which has been manifested by various indices of seed germination. Secondly, addition of gypsum together with other organic agents could strongly increase the ameliorative effectiveness if compared with relatively weak agents, while decrease seed germination if compared with the stronger agent of the 2 mixed agents, showing that the synergetic effect between gypsum and other kinds of tested krilium was not evident. Thirdly, optimum dosages for separate addition of HPMA and gypsum were 42.8 L m?3 and 25 kg m?3, while mixed-addition of these 2 agents at the same dosages did not cause plus effect in soil improvement. Finally, field application of HPMA could enhance the growth of cabbage seedlings at the first month, but began to wilt thereafter. Thus, instead of one-time addition, several-time addition of HPMA at the suitable dosage in field practice could strengthen the effectiveness of soil amelioration.  相似文献

Dissociated cultures from many species have been important tools for exploring factors that regulate structure and function of central neuronal synapses. We have previously shown that cells harvested from brains of late stage Drosophila pupae can regenerate their processes in vitro. Electrophysiological recordings demonstrate the formation of functional synaptic connections as early as 3 days in vitro (DIV), but no information about synapse structure is available. Here, we report that antibodies against pre-synaptic proteins Synapsin and Bruchpilot result in punctate staining of regenerating neurites. Puncta density increases as neuritic plexuses develop over the first 4 DIV. Electron microscopy reveals that closely apposed neurites can form chemical synapses with both pre- and postsynaptic specializations characteristic of many inter-neuronal synapses in the adult brain. Chemical synapses in culture are restricted to neuritic processes and some neurite pairs form reciprocal synapses. GABAergic synapses have a significantly higher percentage of clear core versus granular vesicles than non-GABA synapses. Gap junction profiles, some adjacent to chemical synapses, suggest that neurons in culture can form purely electrical as well as mixed synapses, as they do in the brain. However, unlike adult brain, gap junctions in culture form between neuronal somata as well as neurites, suggesting soma ensheathing glia, largely absent in culture, regulate gap junction location in vivo. Thus pupal brain cultures, which support formation of interneuronal synapses with structural features similar to synapses in adult brain, are a useful model system for identifying intrinsic and extrinsic regulators of central synapse structure as well as function.  相似文献

Motion control of musculoskeletal systems for functional electrical stimulation (FES) is a challenging problem due to the inherent complexity of the systems. These include being highly nonlinear, strongly coupled, time-varying, time-delayed, and redundant. The redundancy in particular makes it difficult to find an inverse model of the system for control purposes. We have developed a control system for multiple input multiple output (MIMO) redundant musculoskeletal systems with little prior information. The proposed method separates the steady-state properties from the dynamic properties. The dynamic control uses a steady-state inverse model and is implemented with both a PID controller for disturbance rejection and an artificial neural network (ANN) feedforward controller for fast trajectory tracking. A mechanism to control the sum of the muscle excitation levels is also included. To test the performance of the proposed control system, a two degree of freedom ankle–subtalar joint model with eight muscles was used. The simulation results show that separation of steady-state and dynamic control allow small output tracking errors for different reference trajectories such as pseudo-step, sinusoidal and filtered random signals. The proposed control method also demonstrated robustness against system parameter and controller parameter variations. A possible application of this control algorithm is FES control using multiple contact cuff electrodes where mathematical modeling is not feasible and the redundancy makes the control of dynamic movement difficult.  相似文献

Measures of soil electrical conductivity (EC) and elevation are relatively inexpensive to collect and result in dense data sets which allow for mapping with limited interpolation. Conversely, soil fertility information is expensive to collect so that relatively few samples are taken and mapping requires extensive interpolation with large estimation errors, resulting in limited usefulness for site-specific applications in precision agriculture. Principal component (PC) analysis and cokriging can be applied to create meaningful field scale summaries of groups of attributes and to decrease the estimation error of maps of the summarized attributes. Deep (0–90 cm) and shallow (0–30 cm) EC, elevation, and soil fertility attributes were measured in fields under corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Glycine max L.) rotations, at two sites in Illinois (IL) and two sites in Missouri (MO). Soil fertility and topography attributes were summarized by PC analysis. The first topography PC (TopoPC1) contrasted flow accumulation against elevation and curvature, to describe the main topographic pattern of the fields. The first soil fertility PC (SoilPC1) consistently grouped together cation exchange capacity (CEC), Ca, Mg, and organic matter (OM). SoilPC1 was well correlated to soil EC for all sites and cokriging with EC had higher r 2 in the crossvariogram models compared to ordinary kriging. The second and third soil fertility PCs (SoilPC2 and SoilPC3) were concerned with soil pH and P, and reflected historic land use patterns. Maps of SoilPC2 and SoilPC3 had little relationship to soil EC or topography and so could not be improved by cokriging.  相似文献

Citrus unshiu “Guoqing No.1” was used as material for elucidating the effect of Kloeckera apiculata suspension post-harvest treatment on preventing fruit decay during storage period. The result showed that K. apiculata preparation of 2×106CFU/mL (CFU, cloning forming unit) significantly reduced the development of decay caused by green mold, blue mold and stem rot, showing the same effect of carbendazim treatment after storage period of 100 days, and the disease incidence was controlled under 1%. The antagonist population was between 3.5×105CFU/mL and 1.7×107CFU/mL in citrus fruit, and increased 1.7×107CFU/mL after 40 days storage, and then stabilized for the remaining storage period. After storage at 5℃ for 100 days, K. apiculata strain 34-9 did not alter any quality parameters of fruit. During storage, the change of relative electrical conductivity (REC) showed a coordinate tendency with malondlaldehyde (MDA) content, which kept continuously growing from the beginning to the end of the storage. In the storage period of 25 days, the REC value and MDA content of the treatments were all significantly lower than those of water treatment, but had no obvious difference from those of carbendazim treatment. K. apiculata strain 34-9 had no effect on the enzyme activity of super oxide dismutase (SOD), but significantly improved peroxidase (POD) activity after 100 day storage.  相似文献

Salt-affected soils have been studied extensively with respect to their Na–Ca exchange properties. These studies have focused on soil environments of the arid West. However, because of irrigation and oil well brine discharges in the temperate region of the U.S. there is need to understand sodicity behavior of such soils. In this study, two Kentucky soils (Pembroke and Uniontown) at the 0–10 cm depth were studied to evaluate the influence of ionic strength (I) and sodium adsorption ratio (SAR) on cation selectivity coefficients. The data showed that both soils exhibit at least two classes of exchange sites and in general the apparent affinity for Na+ increased when solution ionic strength increased. Furthermore, both soils under all three ionic strengths tested showed greater affinity for Na+ than the average agricultural saline soil of the arid West. The data suggested the need for establishing critical salt dispersion thresholds for temperate climate soils and developing effective brine management approaches.  相似文献
