-Oxidation enzymes were detected both in the mitochondria and microbodies of Arum maculatum L. spadices and Brassica napus L. seeds. It is apparent that the mitochondrial membrane barrier, which remains intact after sucrose-density-gradient centrifugation, prevents rapid access of acyl-GoA substrates to matrix oxidation tes. Thus intact mitochondria showed little -oxidation enzyme activity. Rupturing of the mitochondrial membrane allowed rapid access of acyl CoAs to matrix sites. Consequently, in ruptured mitochondria, high -oxidation enzyme activities were measured.C. Visual cues play a key role in host finding in many phytophagous insects, including the tomato potato psyllid (TPP), Bactericera cockerelli (?ulc) (Hemiptera: Triozidae), a serious pest of solanaceous crops. This study evaluated the response of TPP to sticky traps of one of three colours, up to four sizes, and with or without green borders in an organic potato crop in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. On average, large traps caught a higher density of TPP than small traps (with or without border; 25 and 14 TPP per 100 cm2, respectively). Tomato potato psyllid density on the green border was affected by the colour of the centre trap; a blue centre resulted in substantially fewer TPP on the green border than a yellow centre (9.0 vs. 69.6 TPP per 100 cm2). Trap catches in early summer were male biased, whereas catches of male and female TPP in late summer were approximately equal. 相似文献

Summary The survival of M13 DNA was studied after partial replacement of thymine by uracil in the bacteriophage. Uracils carry the same genetic information as the thymines. Nevertheless in Escherichia coli wild-type cells, uracils in DNA are replaced by thymines by excision repair initiated by uracil-DNA glycosylase (UDG). Thus inactivation of uracil-containing phage DNA is solely due to repair initiated by UDG. Incorporation of uracils was achieved in one or in both strands, either randomly or site-specifically using differently uracylated oligonucleotides. The results show that up to 580 uracils can be repaired without a significant decrease in survival if the uracils are localized in the (–) strand only. Incorporation of 246 uracils into the (+) strand leads to 30% or 10% survival when expressed in Escherichia coli strains CMK and JM103, respectively. However, when uracils are distributed over both strands a sharp decrease in survival occurs. This shows that the repair of two uracils localized in close proximity on opposite strands of the DNA by the excision repair mechanism is difficult, whereas uracils occurring in one strand are repaired more efficiently, irrespective of their number. 相似文献

High-throughout single nucleotide polymorphism detection technology and the existing knowledge provide strong support for
mining the disease-related haplotypes and genes. In this study, first, we apply four kinds of haplotype identification methods
(Confidence Intervals, Four Gamete Tests, Solid Spine of LD and fusing method of haplotype block) into high-throughout SNP
genotype data to identify blocks, then use cluster analysis to verify the effectiveness of the four methods, and select the
alcoholism-related SNP haplotypes through risk analysis. Second, we establish a mapping from haplotypes to alcoholism-related
genes. Third, we inquire NCBI SNP and gene databases to locate the blocks and identify the candidate genes. In the end, we
make gene function annotation by KEGG, Biocarta, and GO database. We find 159 haplotype blocks, which relate to the alcoholism
most possibly on chromosome 1∼22, including 227 haplotypes, of which 102 SNP haplotypes may increase the risk of alcoholism.
We get 121 alcoholism-related genes and verify their reliability by the functional annotation of biology. In a word, we not
only can handle the SNP data easily, but also can locate the disease-related genes precisely by combining our novel strategies
of mining alcoholism-related haplotypes and genes with existing knowledge framework.

A study was conducted to determine the primary source of volatile cues within the plant-host complex used by hostseeking freeflying female Microplitis cro-ceipesCresson in flight tunnel bioassays. In single-source and two-choice tests, using wasps given an oviposition experience on either cotton (Gossypium hirsutum)or cowpea (Vigna unguiculata)seedlings damaged by corn earworm (CEW; Helicoverpa zeaBoddie), the damaged seedlings were significantly more attractive than the CEW frass, which was in turn more attractive than the larvae themselves. In a series of two-choice wind-tunnel tests, the discriminatory ability of the wasps was examined, following various oviposition experiences. Significantly more wasps flew to plants with old damage than to plants with fresh damage, regardless of whether they had experience on fresh or old damage. In a comparison of plant species, wasps with only one experience on either hostdamaged cotton or host-damaged cowpea were unable to distinguish between them, and showed no preference for either plant, whereas wasps with multiple experiences on a particular plant preferentially flew to that plant in the choice test. In comparing hosts with nonhosts, wasps successfully learned to distinguish CEW from beet armyworm (BAW; Spodoptera exigua)on cotton but were unable to distinguish CEW from either BAW or cabbage looper (Trichoplusia ni)on cowpea. The results show the important role played by plant volatiles in the location of hosts by M. croceipesand indicate the wasps limitations in discriminating among the various odors. 江苏省县域森林生态安全评价及空间计量分析 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
通过考察生态区位因素对森林生态安全的影响,建立评价指标体系,研究其空间相关性的内在效应机制,从而实现森林生态安全的评价与监测。以江苏省80个区县为研究对象,基于2000—2015年面板数据,运用熵权法、专家法及模糊物元法计算森林生态安全指数,然后结合气象类指标及地形类指标计算生态区位系数,再用该系数修正森林ESI,同时结合Arc GIS技术、空间相关性分析、SLM与SEM模型得出如下结论:(1)人口密度、单位面积能源消耗量、退耕还林面积占比等指标权重最大;(2)生态区位系数高值区主要分布在江苏南部少数地区,低值区主要分布在江苏东北部;(3)苏南地区森林生态安全状况整体好于苏北及中东部地区;(4) 2000—2015年,江苏省67.5%的区县森林ESI呈现出较明显下降趋势,反映出江苏省森林生态安全发展状况不容乐观;(5)江苏省县域森林ESI整体空间相关性显著(P≤0.01),但2000—2015年空间聚集程度有所下降,且Low-Low聚类显著性更强;(6)森林ESI在江苏省县域间为扩散效应与回流效应并存。 相似文献

- Pomacea canaliculata, a freshwater snail from South America, has rapidly established natural populations from south to north subtropical region in China, since its original introductions in the 1980s. Low temperature in winter is a limiting factor in the geographic expansion and successfully establishment for apple snail populations. There have been some studies on population level of low temperature tolerance for P. canaliculata, yet little is quantified about its life‐history traits in responses to cold temperatures. Whether these responses vary with the acclimation location is also unclear. We investigated the survivorship and longevity of P. canaliculata in responses to cold temperatures and examine whether these responses vary with the location and snail size. We hypothesized that survival of the snails depends on their shell height and the level of low temperature, and P. canaliculata population from the mid-subtropical zone may exhibit the highest viability over the cold thermal range.
- We sampled P. canaliculata populations from five latitude and longitude ranges of subtropical China: Guangzhou population in southernmost (SM‐GZ), three populations of Yingtan (MR‐YT), Ningbo (MR‐NB), Ya'an (MR‐YA) in midrange, and Huanggang population in northernmost (NM‐HG) subtropical zone. For each P. canaliculata population, survival and longevity at six cold acclimation temperature levels (12, 9, 6, 3, 0, and ?3°C) were quantified, and the effects of location and shell height were examined.
- The MR‐YA population from mid-subtropical zone of China exhibited the highest survival rate and prolonged survival time regardless of the temperature acclimation treatments, whereas the SM‐GZ population from southern subtropical was the most sensitive to cold temperatures, particular temperatures below 9°C. No individuals of the SM‐GZ population could survive after stressed for 30 days (3°C), 5 days (0°C) and 2 days (?3°C), respectively. For each experimental P. canaliculata population held at 3, 0, and ?3°C, individuals with intermediate shell height of 15.0–25.0 mm had significantly higher survivals.
- The results highlight a request of a more thorough investigation on acclimation responses in each of the life table demographic parameters for P. canaliculata, and pose the question of whether natural selection or some genetic changes may have facilitated adaptation in invasive locations.

Summary Linkage studies with thirty translocations (one of the two chromosomes involved being number 4) in relation to msg24 (chromosome 4) and thirteen translocations (one of the two chromosomes involved being number 6) in relation to msg6 (chromosome 6) show without exception close linkage for all combinations tested. The results indicate that both genes are located genetically in or close to the centromere regions of their chromosomes.Cytological analysis of two BTT stocks (balanced tertiary trisomics) ascertained the respective chromosome arms (both msg24 and msg6 on the short arms) and revealed marked differences between genetic and physical centromere distances. The reason is obviously the high content of centromeric heterochromatin occupying both the chromosome arms involved. 相似文献
