Integrating fluxes from heterogeneous vegetation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The vegetated landscape of Europe has been strongly impacted by human management to produce a heterogeneous patchwork of semi‐natural and agricultural vegetation varying over a wide range of spatial scales. A model is described for averaging vegetation fluxes from a landscape of forest and grassland into the planetary boundary layer (PBL). At a scale of 1 km, model simulations indicate that vegetation heterogeneity exerts little effect on the PBL and regional fluxes will be simple areal averages of the different vegetation types. Above 5 km the model simulates significant effects of different vegetation types on the whole PBL. Averaging fluxes to the regional scale will therefore need to consider explicitly the nature, extent and behaviour of different vegetation types.  相似文献

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) allows examination of protein-protein interactions in real time, from which both binding affinities and kinetics can be directly determined. We have used the SPR technique to search for proteins in heart tissue that would be candidate binding partners for the cardiac gap junction protein, connexin43 (Cx43). Heart lysate showed a strong, pH-dependent binding to the carboxyl terminus (CT) of Cx43 (amino acids 254-382) covalently linked to an SPR cuvette. Binding was inhibited by the presence of v-src transfected 3T3 cell lysate, suggesting that binding partners in these two lysates may compete for overlapping epitopes on Cx43CT. The combined application of proteomic and functional studies is expected to identify which proteins within heart tissue interact with Cx43 and what roles they may play in gap junction function.  相似文献

以往的心电仿真研究都没有考虑在一个心动周期内,因为心脏跳动而引起的偶极子位置变化的实际情况,从而造成其结果输出的不可避免的误差,在心脏电生理和心脏动力学分析的基础上,对原有的心脏电仿真模型施加动力学影响,从而构建了新的跳动心脏模型。在这两个模型上进行了正常心脏和心肌缺血心脏的仿真试验后,对比两个心电模型的仿真输出,发现新的心脏模型有效提高了仿真精度,对于严重心肌缺血和轻微心肌缺血的识别分别有不同程度的改善。这项研究证实了动力学因素 在心电模型建构中的重要性,为心电正问题和逆问题研究的进一步开展 提供了新的思路和方向。  相似文献

1 998年 4~ 7月对高青盐碱池塘单养鲢和罗非鱼围隔生态系统颗粒悬浮物构成和各有机碳库储量及动态进行了研究。结果表明 ,浮游生物的干重 (PZ)占总颗粒悬浮物干物质 (TS)的 4.2 6%~ 2 5 .97% ,平均 1 2 %。各围隔浮游植物干重(DWP)平均值变化范围为 0 .1 6~ 0 .70 mg/L,有鱼围隔均比无鱼围隔的大。浮游动物干重 (DWZ)平均值变化范围为0 .3 2~ 2 .81 mg/L,养鲢围隔中最小 ,小于无鱼对照围隔 ,养罗非鱼围隔明显高于养鲢围隔。颗粒悬浮物的灰分含量平均值为 42 .3 8%。溶解有机碳 (DOC)、颗粒有机碳 (POC)库储量平均值分别为 5 .40± 1 .61 mg C/L和 1 .96± 0 .96mg/L。各处理围隔间颗粒有机物的 C/N比的平均值比较接近 ,总平均值为 6.97± 0 .2 4。 TOC、DOC和 POC比例为 1∶ 0 .73∶0 .2 7。浮游生物碳和腐质颗粒碳占 POC的比例的平均值分别为 3 4.65 %和 65 .3 5 %。腐质颗粒碳、浮游动物碳与浮游植物碳的比例为 9.2 9∶ 3 .71∶ 1。浮游生物碳中浮游动物碳占 78.8% ,浮游植物碳占 2 1 .2 %。浮游动物碳比浮游植物碳高 ,这可能是内陆盐水的通性。盐碱池塘围隔生态系统颗粒有机碳 (POC,mg C/L)与浮游植物叶绿素 a(Chla,μg/L)和悬浮颗粒有机物 (SO,mg/L)之间存在显著的正相关关系 ,其回归方程分别为  相似文献

More than 10000 specimens of the amphipod Gammarus zaddachiwere collected from the River Hunte (Huntebrück, Germany) in January, April, July and September 1999 and Jan 2000 to analyse relationships between body-length distributions, growth and the permeable body surface area (from which ions can enter the cell) as indicated by the acid–base titration method. Thus, body wet weights (BWWs), dry weights (BDWs), length (BL), surface area and specific surface area were measured. Mean BWWs were 56.0 mg, BDWs 11.1 mg and BLs 16.4 mm. The relationship between BDW and BL could be successfully described by the power-function: BDW=0.0029×BL 2.88, probably indicating that the body volume of the test animals can be approximately expressed by an `equal-effectiveness ball'. The body-length distributions were analysed using two combined normal-distribution equations, suggesting that the population of G. zaddachi at Huntebrück was composed of two generations. A sigmoid logistic equation was applied to estimate the body length-based growth. It can be inferred that the reproduction must have occurred around October to December 1998 and that the size of juveniles in the brood pouch was 0.1 mm. The permeable body surface area (ABSA) of G. zaddachi was measured by applying the acid–base titration method, with an average measurement accuracy of 13.7%. ABSA ranged from 17.1 to 236.9 cm2 animal–1 in a variety of the body lengths studied. The specific surface areas (SSA), equivalent to the ratio of permeable body surface area to body volume, decreased from 14.2 to 8.5 cm2 mg–1 (dry wt) as BL increased from 8.1 to 18.6 mm and then remained nearly constant up to 24.1 mm, indicating a single exponential decay relationship between SSA and BL. Mean body length (BL mean) of G. zaddachi collected simultaneously at Huntebrück increased seasonally from 0.1 mm in autumn–winter to 17.6 in next winter–spring, resulting in an increase of ABSA but a decrease of SSA. Our present results provide a sound and necessary basis for a quantitative study not only on the age-dependent biological/physiological conditions but also on size-dependent bioconcentration of metal by gammaridean amphipods.  相似文献

Stone and rock substrates provide important habitat for many types of stream-dwelling invertebrates. Measures of the invertebrate communities inhabiting rock substrates are often an important component of ecological, monitoring and disturbance studies in streams. A major obstacle to researchers examining rock-inhabiting invertebrates is the time and effort expended on currently used methods of determining rock surface area to derive invertebrate densities on these substrates. In an attempt to more efficiently determine invertebrate densities from rock substrates in streams, we tested a direct method of calculating rock surface area from rock weight or displacement volume. This method allows very quick determinations of rock surface area in the field. Surface area estimates made using this technique were highly correlated to those from a widely used and more time-consuming method. Measurements made using this new method should theoretically give better surface area estimates than any other commonly used technique.  相似文献

Anaplasma marginale, an ehrlichial pathogen of cattle and wild ruminants, is transmitted biologically by ticks. A developmental cycle of A. marginale occurs in a tick that begins in gut cells followed by infection of salivary glands, which are the site of transmission to cattle. Geographic isolates of A. marginale vary in their ability to be transmitted by ticks. In these experiments we studied transmission of two recent field isolates of A. marginale, an Oklahoma isolate from Wetumka, OK, and a Florida isolate from Okeechobee, FL, by two populations of Dermacentor variabilis males obtained from the same regions. The Florida and Oklahoma tick populations transmitted the Oklahoma isolate, while both tick populations failed to transmit the Florida isolate. Gut and salivary gland infections of A. marginale, as determined by quantitative PCR and microscopy, were detected in ticks exposed to the Oklahoma isolate, while these tissues were not infected in ticks exposed to the Florida isolate. An adhesion-recovery assay was used to study adhesion of the A. marginale major surface protein (MSP) 1a to gut cells from both tick populations and cultured tick cells. We demonstrated that recombinant Escherichia coli expressing Oklahoma MSP1a adhered to cultured and native D. variabilis gut cells, while recombinant E. coli expressing the Florida MSP1a were not adherent to either tick cell population. The MSP1a of the Florida isolate of A. marginale, therefore, was unable to mediate attachment to tick gut cells, thus inhibiting salivary gland infection and transmission to cattle. This is the first report of MSP1a being responsible for effecting infection and transmission of A. marginale by Dermacentor spp. ticks. The mechanism of tick infection and transmission of A. marginale is important in formulating control strategies and development of improved vaccines for anaplasmosis.  相似文献

The natural preindustrial ANC and pH decline associated with 22 melt events from 11 streams during spring flood of 1997 and 1998 in Northern Sweden have been assessed using the Boreal Dilution Model (BDM). The results show that the spring flood pH decline of 0.5 to 2.5 pH units in the streams was largely caused by natural processes. The most important driving factors influencing pH were TOC increase in combination with ANC dilution. The study also demonstrates that pH in some streams can decline to pH values close to 4.5 as a result of natural processes alone. In general the anthropogenic component of the pH decline was between 0.1 and 0.3 pH units superimposed on the natural pH decline. Furthermore, the anthropogenic contribution to ANC and pH decline generally followed the gradient of anthropogenic S deposition in the region. The sites with the greatest inferred anthropogenic influence are also those for which the assumptions used in the BDM were most sensitive. Nevertheless, the results from this study suggest that the regional impact of anthropogenic acid deposition on the ANC and pH in northern Sweden is currently limited.  相似文献

Boron adsorption by cell walls isolated from corn (Zea mays) roots was investigated as a function of solution pH and ionic strength. Adsorption increased with increasing solution pH from pH 4.5 to 10, exhibited an adsorption maximum at pH 10–10.5, and decreased with increases in pH above 10.5. Boron adsorption increased with increasing solution ionic strength indicating the formation of strong inner-sphere surface complexes. A surface complexation model, the constant capacitance model was well able to describe the B adsorption data, optimizing two B surface complexes and the dissociation constant for the surface functional group, XOH. The large absolute value of the dissociation constant is consistent with phenolic functional groups.  相似文献

We examined the effect of biosolid compost on the adsorption and complexation of cadmium (Cd) in two soils (Egmont and Manawatu) which varied in their organic matter content. The effect of biosolid compost on the uptake of Cd from the Manawatu soil, treated with various levels of Cd (0–10 mg Cd kg–1 soil), was also examined using mustard (Brassica juncea L.) plants. The transformation of Cd in soil was evaluated by a chemical fractionation scheme. Addition of biosolid compost increased negative charge in soil. The effect of biosolid compost on Cd adsorption varied between the soils, with a large portion of the sorbed Cd remaining in solution as an organic complex. Increasing addition of Cd increased Cd concentration in plants, resulting in decreased plant growth at high levels of Cd (i.e., phytotoxicity). Addition of biosolid compost was effective in reducing the phytotoxicity of Cd as indicated by the decrease in the concentration of NH4OAc extractable-Cd and soil solution-Cd. The solid-phase fractionation study indicated that the addition of biosolid compost decreased the concentration of the soluble and exchangeable Cd fraction but increased the concentration of organic-bound Cd fraction in soil. Alleviation of Cd phytotoxicity by biosolid compost can be attributed primarily to complexation of Cd by the organic matter in the biosolid compost.  相似文献
