The effect of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) on floweringand on endogenous levels of isoprenoid cytokinins wasinvestigated in explanted terminal shoots of Chenopodium rubrum cultivated in vitro. Themother plants were grown under continuous light andexplants were cut off when the 6th leaf primordiumoriginated at the shoot apex. The explants wereexposed to one dark period of 13 hours inductive forflowering or to continuous light on medium with orwithout BAP (0.05;0.2;0.4 mg.l-1). Undernon-inductive conditions no flowering was observedeither in the control or after BAP treatment. Afterreceiving one inductive dark period, the controlexplants flowered. However, BAP application either atthe beginning of the inductive dark period and/orduring the following light cultivation inhibitedflowering and stimulated initiation and growth of leafprimordia. In the case of the most efficient BAPconcentration (0.05 mg.l-1) flowering wasinhibited by 80% and the number of leaf primordia wasincreased by 3. Explantation caused a significantincrease in the total amount of endogenous cytokininsin the explants within first 13 h, provided they werekept in light. When explants were kept in darkness,only a slight increase in cytokinin levels wasobserved. BAP treatment had no influence on the levelsof endogenous cytokinins either in light or indarkness. We may thus conclude, that BAP applicationinhibited flowering of photoperiodically inducedterminal shoot explants and stimulated leaf primordiaformation with no significant effect on changes inlevels of endogenous isoprenoid cytokinins. This maysuggest the direct ability of BAP to regulate morphogenesis.  相似文献

沙地柏(Sabina vulgaris)的叶包括刺叶和鳞叶两种类型。本文探讨沙地柏刺叶与鳞叶的结构和功能差异的生态意义。结果表明:(1)刺叶的角质层厚度、表皮细胞大小、叶肉细胞表面积和维管束大小都显著小于鳞叶;(2)刺叶的组织密度和失水系数都明显大于鳞叶;(3)刺叶的净光合速度、蒸腾速率和胞间CO2/大气CO2比都显著大于鳞叶,而前者的水分利用效率显著低于后者。这些结果指示:沙地柏刺叶的光合产物积累和水分丧失量大于鳞叶,但前者的抗旱保水性、耐辐射能力和水分利用效率都低于后者。刺叶和鳞叶的结构和功能差异表明:沙地柏叶型变化在一定程度上具有适应意义。  相似文献

Influence of supra-optimal concentrations of K on growth, water relations, and photosynthetic capacity in pearl millet under severe water deficit conditions was assessed in a glasshouse. Nineteen-days-old plants of two lines, ICMV-94133 and WCA-78, of Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R.Br. were subjected for 30 d to 235.0, 352.5, and 470.0 mg(K) kg–1(soil) and two water regimes (100 and 30 % field capacity). Increasing K supply did not alleviate the effect of water deficit on the growth of two lines of pearl millet since additional amount of K in the growth medium had no effect on shoot dry mass, relative growth rate, plant leaf area, net assimilation rate, or leaf area ratio, although there was significant effect of drought stress on these variables. Soil moisture had a significant effect on net photosynthetic rate (P N), transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, and water use efficiency of both pearl millet lines, but there was no significant effect of varying K supply on these variables. In WCA-78 an ameliorative effect of increasing supply of K on P N was observed under water deficit. Chlorophyll (Chl) a and b contents increased significantly in both lines with increase in K supply under well watered conditions, but under water deficit they increased only in ICMV-94133. Chl a/b ratios were reduced significantly in WCA-78 with increasing K supply under both watering regimes, but by contrast, in ICMV-94133 this variable was decreased only under water stress. Leaf water potential and osmotic potential of both lines decreased significantly with the imposition of drought. Leaf pressure potential in both lines increased with increase in K supply under water stress. Contents of total free amino acids in the leaves of both pearl millet lines increased significantly with increase in K supply under water stress. Potassium supply had no effect on leaf soluble sugars or soluble proteins. Considerable osmotic adjustment occurred in pearl millet plants experiencing water deficit under high K supply.  相似文献

Midday measurements of single leaf gas exchange rates of upper canopy leaves of soybeans grown in the field at 350 (AC) and 700 (EC) µmol(CO2) mol–1 in open topped chambers sometimes indicated up to 50 % higher net photosynthetic rates (P N) measured at EC in plants grown at AC compared to EC. On other days mean P N were nearly identical in the two growth [CO2] treatments. There was no seasonal pattern to the variable photosynthetic responses of soybean to growth [CO2]. Even on days with significantly lower P N in the plants grown at EC, there was no reduction in ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase, chlorophyll, or soluble protein contents per unit of leaf area. Over three years, gas exchange evidence of acclimation occurred on days when either soil was dry or the water vapor pressure deficit was high (n = 12 d) and did not occur on days after rain or on days with low water vapor pressure deficit (n = 9 d). On days when photosynthetic acclimation was evident, midday leaf water potentials were consistently 0.2 to 0.3 MPa lower for the plants grown at EC than at AC. This suggested that greater susceptibility to water stress in plants grown at EC cause the apparent photosynthetic acclimation. In other experiments, plants were grown in well-watered pots in field chambers and removed to the laboratory early in the morning for gas exchange measurements. In these experiments, the amount of photosynthetic acclimation evident in the gas exchange measurements increased with the maximum water vapor pressure deficit on the day prior to the measurements, indicating a lag in the recovery of photosynthesis from water stress. The apparent increase in susceptibility to water stress in soybean plants grown at EC is opposite to that observed in some other species, where photosynthetic acclimation was evident under wet but not dry conditions, and may be related to the observation that hydraulic conductance is reduced in soybeans when grown at EC. The day-to-day variation in photosynthetic acclimation observed here may account for some of the conflicting results in the literature concerning the existence of acclimation to EC in field-grown plants.  相似文献

Isolated and interactive effects of angular leaf spot (caused by Phaeoisariopsis griseola) and rust (caused by Uromyces appendiculatus) on leaf gas exchange and yield was studied in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Carioca) plants. Gas exchange was measured on 37, 44, 51, and 58 d after planting using a portable photosynthesis system. The inoculation of plants with P. griseola (P), U. appendiculatus (U), and the combination of both pathogens (P+U) caused a significant reduction of net photosynthetic rate (P N) and yield. The reduction of stomatal conductance (g s), P N, and yield was higher under P and combination of P+U than under U treatment. By effect of U, the reduction on yield was higher than the reductions on gas exchange parameters. On the treatment P+U, a reduction of 23 % in P N and a correspondent reduction of 32 % in yield was observed. The interactive effects of the pathogens on yield could be explained in part by the decreases in g s and in P N of diseased bean leaves. The combined effect of both diseases on yield and gas exchange parameters suggests an antagonistic interaction.  相似文献

Net photosynthetic rate (P N) and dark respiration rate (R D) were measured in Vitis vinifera L. cvs. Dimiat 4/24 (23rd subculture), Dimiat 4/38 (22nd subculture), and Italian Riesling 3/47 (22nd subculture) on days 3, 2, and 1 (1st series) before transfer from the in vitro culture and on days 14, 15, 16 (2nd series) and 28, 29, 30 (3rd series) after the transfer. P N of in vitro and ex vitro plants was strongly affected by irradiance. P N and R D of in vitro plantlets were lower and transpiration rate (E) was higher compared to those of ex vitro plantlets. Seventeen clones of C4 grass Miscanthus spp. collected from different climatic regions and elevations of Taiwan were transplanted in pots. 15–16 months after collection the plants received 0, 1, and 2 g of nitrogen fertiliser (N0, N1, and N2, respectively) per pot. All the measurements were done 10–12 d after N application. The relationships between net photosynthetic rate (P N) and photon flux density (PFD) showed a saturated curve, with PFD saturation at about 1 000 µmol m–2 s–1. The ranges of PFD saturated P N (P sat) for all the tested clones with N0, N1, and N2 were 8–16, 11–18, and 12–21 µmol m–2 s–1, respectively. The clones from southern Taiwan, a tropical region, showed the highest P sat, followed by the clones from northern Taiwan, a subtropical region, while those from mountainous area showed the lowest P sat. The clones collected from southern Taiwan showed the highest frequency of stomata on the adaxial surface, and those collected from the high mountainous area showed the lowest frequency. Also the adaxial surface of leaves from the higher mountainous area had more wax deposited than the leaves from the lowland. Thus the low P sat in mountain clones is limited by both stomatal and non-stomatal factors. Further, the lower leaf conductance and different epidermal characteristics of mountain clones might prevent excessive loss of heat through transpiration and provide production against ultraviolet-B radiation.  相似文献

Recent developmental studies suggest that the compound leaf is a more or less incompletely developed shoot. Instead of treating compound leaves and shoots as non-homologous, this interpretation draws a continuum between them. The present work considers the plant as a hierarchical series of units on which similar developmental processes are at work, and where each level (shoot, compound leaf, leaflet) is 'repeated' by the next higher level. Measurements related to the expression of developmental processes operating on leaves at the shoot level and on leaflets at the compound leaf level were used to determine if similar processes are at work at these different levels during early stages of organogenesis. Plants with compound leaves showing acropetal leaflet inception, representing a total of 16 species from ten eudicot families, were studied. Based on several types of quantitative analyses, there appears to be a continuum between so-called shoots, compound leaves and leaflets in the species studied.
