根系构型影响根系空间分布和营养吸收效率,反映了植物适应环境胁迫的生存策略。采用标准化主轴估计(Standardized major axis estimation,SMA)的方法,分析了甘肃金塔北海子国家湿地公园3年生和6年生多枝柽柳(Tamarix ramosissima)根系分叉数与分支角度的异速生长关系。结果表明:随着林龄的增长,湿地群落盖度、高度逐渐增加,多枝柽柳种群的盖度、密度、高度和地上生物量以及根系深度、分叉数、比根长、比表面积、各级根系直径随之增加,根系分支角度和根冠比逐渐减小;多枝柽柳根系分叉数与分支角度回归方程的标准主轴斜率逐渐增大(P<0.05),随着林龄的增长,多枝柽柳根系分叉数的增加速度逐渐大于根系分支角度的生长速度,二者在林龄间呈现出差异化的异速生长关系。随着林龄的增长,多枝柽柳根系构型模式由"扩散型"转变为"紧缩型",体现了种群应对生境胁迫和竞争的生态适应机制。  相似文献

Background and AimsOilseed rape (Brassica napus) is one of the most important oil crops worldwide. Phosphorus (P) deficiency severely decreases the plant height and branch number of B. napus. However, the genetic bases controlling plant height and branch number in B. napus under P deficiency remain largely unknown. This study aims to mine candidate genes for plant height and branch number by genome-wide association study (GWAS) and determine low-P-tolerance haplotypes.MethodsAn association panel of B. napus was grown in the field with a low P supply (P, 0 kg ha−1) and a sufficient P supply (P, 40 kg ha−1) across 2 years and plant height and branch number were investigated. More than five million single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were used to conduct GWAS of plant height and branch number at two contrasting P supplies.Key ResultsA total of 2127 SNPs were strongly associated (P < 6·25 × 10−07) with plant height and branch number at two P supplies. There was significant correlation between phenotypic variation and the number of favourable alleles of associated loci on chromosomes A10 (chrA10_821671) and C08 (chrC08_27999846), which will contribute to breeding improvement by aggregating these SNPs. BnaA10g09290D and BnaC08g26640D were identified to be associated with chrA10_821671 and chrC08_27999846, respectively. Candidate gene association analysis and haplotype analysis showed that the inbred lines carrying ATT at BnaA10g09290Hap1 and AAT at BnaC08g26640Hap1 had greater plant height than lines carrying other haplotype alleles at low P supply.ConclusionOur results demonstrate the power of GWAS in identifying genes of interest in B. napus and provided insights into the genetic basis of plant height and branch number at low P supply in B. napus. Candidate genes and favourable haplotypes may facilitate marker-based breeding efforts aimed at improving P use efficiency in B. napus.  相似文献

Allocation to reproduction is often examined at the whole plant level from an allometric perspective; however, investment in reproduction is a hierarchical process which represents the integration of adjustments at different hierarchical levels. This essay review presents some key issues in reproductive allocation by examining problems of allocation at different hierarchical levels within plant. At the whole plant level, the application of ‘Rensch's rule’ to plants is discussed as a mechanism that might explain size differences in relation to gender in dioecious species. At branch level, the existence of vegetative branches may be explained by hypotheses on branch specialization and costs of reproduction. However, vegetative branches might also constitute an ‘assurance’ for reproduction in variable environments. At a lower hierarchical level, fruit abortion is a process widely observed in plants that impose limits to our capacity to estimate and develop general laws about reproductive allocation in plants. The question of whether fruit abortion can be used by the parent to produce a more homogeneous progeny that limits asymmetric competition among sibs is discussed. Finally, it seems that in some cases the allocation within seeds is in accordance with some predictions of kin selection theory. Most of these topics contain open questions that deserve further research.  相似文献

The Rooting of the Universal Tree of Life Is Not Reliable   总被引:19,自引:0,他引:19  
Several composite universal trees connected by an ancestral gene duplication have been used to root the universal tree of life. In all cases, this root turned out to be in the eubacterial branch. However, the validity of results obtained from comparative sequence analysis has recently been questioned, in particular, in the case of ancient phylogenies. For example, it has been shown that several eukaryotic groups are misplaced in ribosomal RNA or elongation factor trees because of unequal rates of evolution and mutational saturation. Furthermore, the addition of new sequences to data sets has often turned apparently reasonable phylogenies into confused ones. We have thus revisited all composite protein trees that have been used to root the universal tree of life up to now (elongation factors, ATPases, tRNA synthetases, carbamoyl phosphate synthetases, signal recognition particle proteins) with updated data sets. In general, the two prokaryotic domains were not monophyletic with several aberrant groupings at different levels of the tree. Furthermore, the respective phylogenies contradicted each others, so that various ad hoc scenarios (paralogy or lateral gene transfer) must be proposed in order to obtain the traditional Archaebacteria–Eukaryota sisterhood. More importantly, all of the markers are heavily saturated with respect to amino acid substitutions. As phylogenies inferred from saturated data sets are extremely sensitive to differences in evolutionary rates, present phylogenies used to root the universal tree of life could be biased by the phenomenon of long branch attraction. Since the eubacterial branch was always the longest one, the eubacterial rooting could be explained by an attraction between this branch and the long branch of the outgroup. Finally, we suggested that an eukaryotic rooting could be a more fruitful working hypothesis, as it provides, for example, a simple explanation to the high genetic similarity of Archaebacteria and Eubacteria inferred from complete genome analysis.  相似文献

 该文介绍了一种建立树木生物量模型的简单快速方法——嵌套式回归。基本原理是以枝轴为基本单位, 逐级拟合。过程是把枝条分解成枝轴, 从枝轴到枝条, 再到单株, 拟合不同层次或尺度的生物量模型。建立枝轴生物量方程, 估计各级枝轴生物量, 将枝轴生物量(实测值或模拟值)总和起来便得到枝条生物量。由于样本单元之间有包含关系, 实际测定的样本很小, 具有快速实用的特点。检验结果显示, 模型预测值和实测值具有较高的一致性。  相似文献

The top, the lateral and the underside of basal branch segments of two gymnosperm species, spruce (Picea abies [L.] Karst.) and yew (Taxus baccata L.), were studied with respect to possible adaptation in structural and mechanical properties. Microtensile tests were performed on thin wet foils, which were removed from the periphery of the branches. Structural parameters such as density and the microfibril angle in the S2-layer were examined to investigate the structure-function relationships of the branch wood. The top, the lateral and the underside of both branches showed significant differences in their structural and mechanical properties. However, no significant variations were observed as a function of age and size development. The findings were discussed in view of adaptive growth strategies of trees, including biomechanical constraints of a horizontally growing branch.  相似文献

Architectural analysis of 840 Slovenian walnut (Juglans regia L.) genotypes was performed to determine the most typical and frequent morphological types and to evaluate their vegetative and generative potential. Four branching and fruiting patterns (I-IV) were detected. A 3-year-old fruiting branch, consisting of a 3-year-old shoot plus corresponding 2-year-old and 1-year-old shoots, was used as a structural unit for quantitative analysis. In the intermediate fruit-bearing types with mesotonic and acrotonic branching pattern (types II and III), the total lengths of 3-, 2- and 1-year-old shoots were 385 and 380 cm, respectively, compared with 275 and 253 cm in the terminal and lateral-fruiting types (types I and IV). In type I, 1-year-old shoots had significantly fewer nodes than in other types. In addition, they had a thinner basal diameter than types III and IV, and their angles were the most erect (39 degrees ). Only 0.4 out of 3.6 1-year-old shoots were flowering with one mixed bud with 1.9 female flowers. In type IV, 2-year-old shoots had significantly more nodes and a larger basal diameter than other types. One-year-old shoots in type IV are thicker than those in other types. Ratios between the number of flowering and the total number of 1-year-old shoots were 0.7 in type IV, 0.6 in type III, 0.5 in type II and 0.1 in type I. On 1-year-old shoots in type IV, 1.7 mixed buds with a mean of three female inflorescences per bud were counted. Consequently, the generative potential is highest in type IV and lowest in type I. In types II and III, growth and the ability to bear fruits are more balanced.  相似文献
