Variations in the HPLC‐derived pigment composition of cultured Pavlovophyceae (Cavalier‐Smith) Green et Medlin were compared with phylogenetic relationships inferred from 18S rDNA sequencing, morphological characteristics, and current taxonomy. The four genera described for this haptophyte class (Diacronema Prauser emend. Green et Hibberd, Exanthemachrysis Lepailleur, Pavlova Butcher, and Rebecca Green) were represented by nine different species (one of which with data from GeneBank only). Chlorophylls a, c1, c2 and MgDVP (Mg‐[3,8‐divinyl]‐phytoporphyrin‐132‐methylcarboxylate) and the carotenoids fucoxanthin, diadinoxanthin, diatoxanthin, and β,β‐carotene were detected in all cultures. Species only differed in the content of an unknown (diadinoxanthin‐like) xanthophyll and two polar chl c forms, identified as a monovinyl (chl c1‐like) and a divinyl (chl c2‐like) compound. This is the first observation of the monovinyl form in haptophytes. Based on distribution of these two chl c forms, species were separated into Pavlovophyceae pigment types A, B, and C. These pigment types crossed taxonomic boundaries at the generic level but were in complete accordance with species groupings based on molecular phylogenetic relationships and certain ultrastructural characteristics (position and nature of pyrenoid, stigma, and flagella). These results suggest that characterization of the pigment signature of unidentified culture strains of Pavlovophyceae can be used to predict their phylogenetic affinities and vice versa. Additional studies have been initiated to evaluate this possibility for the haptophyte class Prymnesiophyceae.  相似文献

A study was made of the chlorophyll fluorescence spectra between 100 and 4.2 K of chloroplasts of various species of higher plants (wild strains and chlorophyll b mutants) and of subchloroplast particles enriched in Photosystem I or II. The chloroplast spectra showed the well known emission bands at about 685, 695 and 715–740 nm; the System I and II particles showed bands at about 675, 695 and 720 nm and near 685 nm, respectively. The effect of temperature lowering was similar for chloroplasts and subchloroplast particles; for the long wave bands an increase in intensity occurred mainly between 100 and 50 K, whereas the bands near 685 nm showed a considerable increase in the region of 50-4.2 K. In addition to this we observed an emission band near 680 nm in chloroplasts, the amplitude of which was less dependent on temperature. The band was missing in barley mutant no. 2, which lacks the lightharvesting chlorophyll a/b-protein complex. At 4.7 K the spectra of the variable fluorescence (Fv) consisted mainly of the emission bands near 685 and 695 nm, and showed only little far-red emission and no contribution of the band at 680 nm.From these and other data it is concluded that the emission at 680 nm is due to the light-harvesting complex, and that the bands at 685 and 695 nm are emitted by the System II pigment-protein complex. At 4.2 K, energy transfer from System II to the light-harvesting complex is blocked, but not from the light-harvesting to the System I and System II complexes. The fluorescence yield of the chlorophyll species emittting at 685 nm appears to be directly modulated by the trapping state of the reaction center.  相似文献

Polychaetes possess a wide range of sensory structures. These form sense organs of several kinds, including the appendages of the head region (palps, antennae, tentacular cirri), the appendages of the trunk region and pygidium (parapodial and pygidial cirri), the nuchal organs, the dorsal organs, the lateral organs, the eyes, the photoreceptor-like sense organs, the statocysts, various kinds of pharyngeal papillae as well as structurally peculiar sensory organs of still unknown function and the apical organs of trochophore larvae. Moreover, isolated or clustered sensory cells not obviously associated with other cell types are distributed all over the body. Whereas nuchal organs are typical for polychaetes and are lacking only in a few species, all other kinds of sensory organs are restricted to certain groups of taxa or species. Some have only been described in single species till now. Sensory cells are generally bipolar sensory cells and their cell bodies are either located peripherally within the epidermis or within the central nervous system. These sensory cells are usually ciliated and different types can be disinguished. Structure, function and phylogenetic importance of the sensory structures observed in polychaetes so far are reviewed. For evaluation of the relationships of the higher taxa in Annelida palps, nuchal organs and pigmented ocelli appear to be of special importance.  相似文献

白背飞虱Sogatella furcifera (Horváth)是水稻的主要害虫之一。采用扫描电镜技术对白背飞虱触角感器进行了观察。结果表明,白背飞虱成虫触角上有3种类型的感器——毛形、刺形和耳状感器,以及由毛形和耳状感器组成的一种菊花状的感器簇,且这些感器在雌雄中不存在二型性。同时,对其高龄若虫触角感器的观察也表明,白背飞虱触角感器的数量随若虫龄期的增加而增加,且在羽化为成虫时数量会大幅度的增加。  相似文献

The changes in pigment content and composition of the unicellular alga Parietochloris incisa comb. nov (Trebouxiophyceae, Chlorophyta) were studied. This alga is unique in its ability to accumulate high amounts of arachidonic acid in the cell during cultivation under different irradiances and nitrogen availability in the medium. Under low irradiance of 35 μE/(m2 s) photosynthetically active radiation the P. incisa cultures possessed slow growth and a relatively low carotenoid-to-chlorophyll ratio. At higher irradiances (200 and 400 μE/(m2 s)) on complete medium, the alga displayed higher growth rate and an increase in the carotenoid content, especially that of β-carotene and lutein. Both on nitrogen-free (regardless of illumination intensity) and nitrogen-replete medium (under high light), a considerable increase in the ratio of carotenoid and chlorophyll contents was recorded. Predominant accumulation of xanthophylls took place in thylakoid membranes, whereas β-carotene deposition occurred mainly in the cytoplasmic lipid globules (oil bodies); lower amounts of carotenoids were accumulated in the absence of nitrogen. Under high light and nitrogen-deficiency conditions, an increase in violaxanthin de-epoxidation and nonphotochemical quenching was recorded together with a decline in variable chlorophyll fluorescence (F v/F m) level. A possible photoprotective role of carotenoids in adaptation of P. incisa to high light under nitrogen starvation conditions is discussed.  相似文献

We investigated the responses of ultraviolet (UV)‐absorbing compounds, chlorophylls a and b, carotenoids and the growth responses of the pleurocarpous moss Pleurozium schreberi (Britt.) Mitt. to enhanced UV radiation in situ. The moss was exposed to a 52% elevation above the ambient level of erythemally weighted UV‐B radiation, simulating an approximate 20% reduction in the ozone column, in a dry pine forest in Sodankylä, Finland (67 °22′N, 26 °38′E), under arrays of lamps filtered with cellulose diacetate, which transmitted both UV‐B and UV‐A radiation. The moss was also exposed to elevated UV‐A radiation under control arrays of lamps filtered with Melinex polyester and to ambient radiation under arrays with no lamps in them. Effects of enhanced UV radiation on P. schreberi were recorded during the first 3 years of exposure. Enhanced UV‐B radiation did not affect the segment height growth of the moss. The annual dry mass after the second growing season was higher in the UV‐A control than in the other treatments, and dry mass decreased significantly during the third treatment year in both UV treatments compared with the ambient. The specific leaf area of the UV‐B‐treated mosses was significantly higher than the ambient control mosses during the first 2 years. An increase of UV‐absorbing compounds was found in the mosses under enhanced UV‐B radiation compared with the UV‐A control mosses during the first year. Even though the treatment effect on UV‐absorbing compounds was transient, the concentrations of these compounds correlated with the amount of UV‐A and UV‐B radiation received under the elevated UV‐B treatment. A correlation with the irradiation of previous days and preceding month of the sampling day was found. A seasonal reduction occurred in the amount of UV‐absorbing compounds from the beginning of the summer to late summer. The amount of photosynthetic pigments correlated with the amount of photosynthetically active radiation. The moss P. schreberi was thus found to tolerate increasing UV‐B radiation. Our data indicate that P. schreberi tolerates a 52% increase in erythemally weighted UV‐B radiation above ambient, responding during the first few years of exposure by increasing UV‐absorbing compounds and specific leaf area, and decreasing annual dry mass, and then acclimating to its altered radiation environment.  相似文献

应用扫描电镜对麦蛾茧蜂BraconhebetorSay的触角感器进行观察。结果表明:麦蛾茧蜂的触角上存在6种感器,分别为毛形感器,板形感器,刺形感器,鳞状感器,锥形乳头状感器和嗅孔。其中毛形感器和板形感器是主要感器,数量较大,分布较广。雌雄蜂的触角感器差异不明显。  相似文献

We have measured fluorescence spectra from Photosystem I (PS I) on a PS II-less mutant of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 at room temperature as a function of excitation wavelength. Our data show a gradual enhancement of long-wavelength fluorescence at 710 nm as the excitation wavelength is increased from 695 to 720 nm. This verifies the presence of low-energy chlorophylls (LE Chls), antenna Chls with energy levels below that of the primary electron donor, P700. The change in fluorescence with excitation wavelength is attributed to the finite time it takes for equilibration of excitations between the bulk and LE Chls. The spectra were deconvoluted into the sum of two basis spectra, one an estimate for fluorescence from the majority or bulk Chls and the other, the LE Chls. The bulk Chl spectrum has a major peak at 688 nm and a lower amplitude vibrational band around 745 nm and is assumed independent of excitation wavelength. The LE Chl spectrum has a major peak at 710 nm, with shoulders at 725 and 760 nm. The relative amplitude of emission at the vibrational side bands increases slightly as the excitation wavelength increases. The ratio of the fluorescence yields from LE Chls to that from bulk Chls ranges from 0.3 to 1.3 for excitation wavelengths of 695 to 720 nm, respectively. These values are consistent with a model where the LE Chls are structurally close to P700 allowing for direct transfer of excitations from both the bulk and LE Chls to P700.  相似文献
