Using international trading and passive transportation routes, the Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1894), has colonized Europe. While the most common tool to monitor the presence of the mosquito is the ovitrap, other kinds of eggs are occasionally found in the traps as well. Most of the eggs are easy to distinguish, however, some white‐yellow eggs have a similar shape and size to those of the tiger mosquito and are often falsely identified as freshly laid tiger mosquito eggs. We have shown that these eggs had been laid by Psychoda alternata Say, 1824, and the misinterpretation may cause large errors in calculating density and patterns of Ae. albopictus. To avoid mistakes, a microscopic observation should be done at least 48 h after collecting the sample to permit Ae. albopictus eggs to darken.  相似文献

Some common legumes and weeds indigenous to peach orchards in South Carolina were tested in greenhouse experiments to determine their host suitability for Criconemella xenoplax. Legumes that were hosts for the nematode were dwarf English trefoil (Lotus corniculatus var. arvensis), big trefoil (L. uliginosis), birdsfoot trefoil (L. corniculatus), narrowleaf birdsfoot trefoil (L. tenuis), ball clover (Trifolium nigrescens), rose clover (T. hirtum), subterranean clover (T. subterraneum), striate lespedeza (Lespedeza striata), and partridge pea (Cassiafasciculata). Most nonleguminous plants tested did not support population increases, but small increases were observed on orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata), broadleaf signalgrass (Brachiaria platyphylla), purslane (Portulaca oleracea), and Carolina geranium (Geranium carolinianum). Results indicate that leguminous plants probably should not be used as ground cover or rotation crops for plants that are injured by C. xenopax.  相似文献

Plectonema boryanum exhibits temporal separation of photosynthesis and nitrogen fixation under diazotrophic conditions. During nitrogen fixation, the photosynthetic electron transport chain becomes impaired, which leads to the uncoupling of the PSII and PSI activities. A 30-40% increase in PSI activity and continuous generation of ATP through light-dependent processes seem to support the nitrogen fixation. The use of an artificial electron carrier that shuttles electrons between the plastoquinone pool and plastocyanin, bypassing cytochrome b/f complex, enhanced the photosynthetic electron transport activity five to six fold during nitrogen fixation. Measuring of full photosynthetic electron transport activity using methyl voilogen as a terminal acceptor revealed that the photosynthetic electron transport components beyond plastocyanin might be functional. Further, glycolate can act as a source of electrons for PSI for the nitrogen fixing cells, which have residual PSII activity. Under conditions when PSI becomes largely independent of PSII and glycolate provides electrons for PSI activity, the light-dependent nitrogen fixation also was stimulated by glycolate. These results suggest that during nitrogen fixation, when the photosynthetic electron transport from PSII is inhibited at the level of cytochrome b/f complex, an alternate electron donor system for PSI may be required for the cells to carry out light dependent nitrogen fixation.  相似文献

Two structures of phosphoribosyl isomerase A (PriA) from Streptomyces coelicolor, involved in both histidine and tryptophan biosynthesis, were solved at 1.8 Å resolution. A closed conformer was obtained, which represents the first complete structure of PriA, revealing hitherto unnoticed molecular interactions and the occurrence of conformational changes. Inspection of these conformers, including ligand-docking simulations, allowed identification of residues involved in substrate recognition, chemical catalysis and conformational changes. These predictions were validated by mutagenesis and functional analysis. Arg19 and Ser81 were shown to play critical roles within the carboxyl and amino phosphate-binding sites, respectively; the catalytic residues Asp11 and Asp130 are responsible for both activities; and Thr166 and Asp171, which make an unusual contact, are likely to elicit the conformational changes needed for adopting the active site architectures. This represents the first report of the structure/function relationship of this (βα)8-isomerase.  相似文献

The major hallmark of cellular senescence is an irreversible cell cycle arrest and thus it is a potent tumor suppressor mechanism. Genotoxic insults, e.g. oxidative stress, are important inducers of the senescent phenotype which is characterized by an accumulation of senescence-associated heterochromatic foci (SAHF) and DNA segments with chromatin alterations reinforcing senescence (DNA-SCARS). Interestingly, senescent cells secrete pro-inflammatory factors and thus the condition has been called the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). Emerging data has revealed that NF-κB signaling is the major signaling pathway which stimulates the appearance of SASP. It is known that DNA damage provokes NF-κB signaling via a variety of signaling complexes containing NEMO protein, an NF-κB essential modifier, as well as via the activation of signaling pathways of p38MAPK and RIG-1, retinoic acid inducible gene-1. Genomic instability evoked by cellular stress triggers epigenetic changes, e.g. release of HMGB1 proteins which are also potent enhancers of inflammatory responses. Moreover, environmental stress and chronic inflammation can stimulate p38MAPK and ceramide signaling and induce cellular senescence with pro-inflammatory responses. On the other hand, two cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors, p16INK4a and p14ARF, are effective inhibitors of NF-κB signaling. We will review in detail the signaling pathways which activate NF-κB signaling and trigger SASP in senescent cells.  相似文献

The goal of this article is to reduce the complexity of the side chain search within docking problems. We apply six methods of generating side chain conformers to unbound protein structures and determine their ability of obtaining the bound conformation in small ensembles of conformers. Methods are evaluated in terms of the positions of side chain end groups. Results for 68 protein complexes yield two important observations. First, the end‐group positions change less than 1 Å on association for over 60% of interface side chains. Thus, the unbound protein structure carries substantial information about the side chains in the bound state, and the inclusion of the unbound conformation into the ensemble of conformers is very beneficial. Second, considering each surface side chain separately in its protein environment, small ensembles of low‐energy states include the bound conformation for a large fraction of side chains. In particular, the ensemble consisting of the unbound conformation and the two highest probability predicted conformers includes the bound conformer with an accuracy of 1 Å for 78% of interface side chains. As more than 60% of the interface side chains have only one conformer and many others only a few, these ensembles of low‐energy states substantially reduce the complexity of side chain search in docking problems. This approach was already used for finding pockets in protein–protein interfaces that can bind small molecules to potentially disrupt protein–protein interactions. 采用自动式遮雨棚水分精量控制试验研究了交替地下滴灌条件下不同灌溉定额对春玉米产量和水分利用效率的影响.结果表明:交替地下滴灌春玉米需水关键时期为拔节-抽雄期、抽雄-灌浆期,具体表现为耗水模系数与耗水强度大,且对水分敏感性高,在灌溉条件有限的情况下要优先满足春玉米这两个时期的水分需求.随着灌溉定额的增加,产量呈现增加趋势;灌溉定额小于2764.5 m3·hm-2时产量随灌溉定额增加快速增加,大于2764.5 m3·hm-2时产量随灌溉定额增加缓慢增加;当灌溉定额为3357.1 m3·hm-2时产量最高,达12109.0 kg·hm-2.与固定地下滴灌相比,在灌溉定额相同条件下,交替地下滴灌产量提高5.4%,水分利用效率提高1.4%,灌溉水利用效率提高5.6%.与固定地下滴灌相比,灌溉定额减少20%时,交替地下滴灌虽然产量下降1.8%,但水分利用效率提高11.0%,灌溉水利用效率提高22.7%.综合考虑产量、水分利用效率两个指标,确定试验区春玉米交替地下滴灌的适宜灌溉定额为1600.4~3357.1 m3·hm-2.  相似文献
