蜈蚣草(Pteris vittata)是多年生的超积累砷植物,并用于修复受重金属污染的土壤。利用光学显微镜和荧光显微镜来研究蜈蚣草的解剖结构及组织化学特征,以此明确该物种适应干旱岩生环境,以及具有离子超富集作用的特点。结果表明(:1)蜈蚣草孢子体的根状茎、不定根和叶的结构均为初生结构,不定根的结构由内而外包括维管柱、内皮层、皮层、木质化厚壁组织层和表皮。(2)根状茎结构由内而外包括网状中柱、内皮层、皮层、表皮外覆盖的角质层。(3)羽状复叶的总叶柄的结构由内而外包括维管束、内皮层、皮层、厚壁组织层、表皮外覆盖的角质层。叶片为异面叶,表皮内方具厚壁层,叶表皮具角质层,仅下表皮有气孔。(4)蜈蚣草根表皮、皮层与根毛的表面富含果胶,皮层木质化;黄连素离子通透性试验结果显示,根毛、根表皮和皮层滞留大量黄连素离子。综上,植物体的内皮层、木质化厚壁组织层、异面叶和厚的角质层结构说明蜈蚣草适应岩生环境,根具木质化皮层和富含果胶的组织化学特点,以及离子通透性试验表明其与离子超积累功能有关。 相似文献

An attempt has been made to forecast the potential of thermophilic fungi to grow in soil in the laboratory and in the field
in the presence of a predominantly mesophilic fungal flora at usual temperature. The respiratory rate of thermophilic fungi
was markedly responsive to changes in temperature, but that of mesophilic fungi was relatively independent of such changes.
This suggested that in a thermally fluctuating environment, thermophilic fungi may be at a physiological disadvantage compared
to mesophilic fungi. In mixed cultures in soil plates, thermophilic fungi outgrew mesophilic fungi under a fluctuating temperature
regime only when the amplitude of the fluctuating temperatures was small and approached their temperature optima for growth.
An antibody probe was used to detect the activity of native or an introduced strain of a thermophilic fungus,Thermomyces lanuginosus, under field conditions. The results suggest that although widespread, thermophilic fungi are ordinarily not an active component
of soil microflora. Their presence in soil most likely may be the result of the aerial dissemination of propagules from composting

Estimation of population trends and demographic parameters is important to our understanding of fundamental ecology and species management, yet these data are often difficult to obtain without the use of data from population surveys or marking animals. The northeastern Minnesota moose (Alces alces Linnaeus, 1758) population declined 58% during 2006–2017, yet aerial surveys indicated stability during 2012–2017. In response to the decline, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MNDNR) initiated studies of adult and calf survival to better understand cause‐specific mortality, calf recruitment, and factors influencing the population trajectory. We estimated population growth rate (λ) using adult survival and calf recruitment data from demographic studies and the recruitment–mortality (R‐M) Equation and compared these estimates to those calculated using data from aerial surveys. We then projected population dynamics 50 years using each resulting λ and used a stochastic model to project population dynamics 30 years using data from the MNDNR's studies. Calculations of λ derived from 2012 to 2017 survey data, and the R‐M Equation indicated growth (1.02 ± 0.16 [SE] and 1.01 ± 0.04, respectively). However, the stochastic model indicated a decline in the population over 30 years (λ = 0.91 ± 0.004; 2014–2044). The R‐M Equation has utility for estimating λ, and the supporting information from demographic collaring studies also helps to better address management questions. Furthermore, estimates of λ calculated using collaring data were more certain and reflective of current conditions. Long‐term monitoring using collars would better inform population performance predictions and demographic responses to environmental variability. 相似文献

Aerial surveys ( n = 88) were used to document locations and count sightings of manatees ( Trichechus manatus latirostris ) in the inshore waters of Tampa Bay, Florida, between November 1987 and May 1994. We made 5,358 sightings of manatees in 1,958 groups. Calves represented 8% of the manatees sighted. Counts were significantly higher in winter ( = 79, n = 29 flights) than in non-winter ( = 46, n = 47) months. Counts of manatees in winter increased significantly during the study, but warm-season counts did not. Regression models demonstrated a relationship between counts and environmental factors. Year-round counts were related to air temperatures and seasons, with highest counts in winter. However, in the winter season, counts were significantly correlated only with wind speed, not air temperature. Yearround counts were predicted to be curvilinear with highest counts at 15°C average air temperature. Areas used differed with season: in cold weather, 76% of all sightings occurred in zones with warm-water sources. High-use areas were identified for summer months. Spatial filter analysis was used to compare manatee density in high-use areas between two two-year time periods. The data indicate that (1) manatee use of Tampa Bay was high and increasing in winter, (2) there are particular zones of the bay where conservation of manatees and habitat should be a priority, and (3) sufficient information has been collected for management agencies to develop and implement manatee protection plans. 相似文献

Streptosporangium roseum Crauch 1955 is the type strain of the species which is the type species of the genus Streptosporangium. The 'pinkish coiled Streptomyces-like organism with a spore case' was isolated from vegetable garden soil in 1955. Here we describe the features of this organism, together with the complete genome sequence and annotation. This is the first completed genome sequence of a member of the family Streptosporangiaceae, and the second largest microbial genome sequence ever deciphered. The 10,369,518 bp long genome with its 9421 protein-coding and 80 RNA genes is a part of the Genomic Encyclopedia of Bacteria and Archaea project. 相似文献

Thawing permafrost in the sub‐Arctic has implications for the physical stability and biological dynamics of peatland ecosystems. This study provides an analysis of how permafrost thawing and subsequent vegetation changes in a sub‐Arctic Swedish mire have changed the net exchange of greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2) and CH4 over the past three decades. Images of the mire (ca. 17 ha) and surroundings taken with film sensitive in the visible and the near infrared portion of the spectrum, [i.e. colour infrared (CIR) aerial photographs from 1970 and 2000] were used. The results show that during this period the area covered by hummock vegetation decreased by more than 11% and became replaced by wet‐growing plant communities. The overall net uptake of C in the vegetation and the release of C by heterotrophic respiration might have increased resulting in increases in both the growing season atmospheric CO2 sink function with about 16% and the CH4 emissions with 22%. Calculating the flux as CO2 equivalents show that the mire in 2000 has a 47% greater radiative forcing on the atmosphere using a 100‐year time horizon. Northern peatlands in areas with thawing sporadic or discontinuous permafrost are likely to act as larger greenhouse gas sources over the growing season today than a few decades ago because of increased CH4 emissions. 相似文献

We contrast two methods for estimating the trends of bowhead whales (Balaena mysticetus) in West Greenland: (1) double platform visual aerial survey, corrected for missed sightings and the time the whales are available at the surface; and (2) a genetic capture‐recapture approach based on a 14‐yr‐long biopsy sampling program in Disko Bay. The aerial survey covered 39,000 km2 and resulted in 58 sightings, yielding an abundance estimate of 744 whales (CV = 0.34, 95% CI: 357–1,461). The genetic method relied on determining sex, mitochondrial haplotypes and genotypes of nine microsatellite markers. Based on samples from a total of 427 individuals, with 11 recaptures from previous years in 2013, this resulted in an estimate of 1,538 whales (CV = 0.24, 95% CI: 827–2,249). While the aerial survey is considered a snapshot of the local spring aggregation in Disko Bay, the genetic approach estimates the abundance of the source of this aggregation. As the whales in Disko Bay primarily are adult females that do not visit the bay annually, the genetic method would presumably yield higher estimates. The studies indicate that an increase in abundance observed between 1998 and 2006 has leveled off. 相似文献

Directed aerial descent (i.e. gliding and manoeuvring) may be an important stage in the evolution of winged flight. Although hypothesized to occur in ancestrally wingless insects, such behaviour is unexplored in extant basal hexapods, but has recently been described in arboreal ants. Here we show that tropical arboreal bristletails (Archaeognatha) direct their horizontal trajectories to tree trunks in approximately 90 per cent of falls. Experimental manipulation of the median caudal filament significantly reduced both success rate (per cent of individuals landing on a tree trunk) and performance (glide index) versus controls. The existence of aerial control in the ancestrally wingless bristletails, and its habitat association with an arboreal lifestyle, are consistent with the hypothesis of a terrestrial origin for winged flight in insects. 相似文献

In order to facilitate the discovery and investigation of anti‐cancer therapeutics under physiological conditions, we have engineered the ovarian cancer cell line, HM‐1/luc, in mice. This cell stably expresses firefly luciferase and produces light that can be detected using an in vivo imaging system (IVIS). Parental HM‐1 cells cause severe carcinomatous peritonitis to B6C3F1 mice, but not to C57BL6 mice. Established HM‐1/luc cells showed pathologically similar findings to HM‐1 cells. HM‐1/luc cells were injected into the peritoneal cavity of B6C3F1 mice and IVIS 2000 was conducted weekly after inoculation to monitor intra‐peritoneal tumor growth. The mice were divided into three groups: non‐CDDP‐treated (control) and CDDP‐treated (0.2 and 0.4 mg). A disease‐suppressive effect of the CDDP was reflected by the significantly prolonged survival of the CDDP‐treated mice (control 23 ± 1.9 days, CDDP 0.2 mg 29.6 ± 2.9 days; p < 0.05); the total photon and area of flux were decreased. The optical imaging of intraperitoneal tumors via in vivo bioluminescence is effective for noninvasive monitoring and semi‐quantitative analysis. Our syngeneic mouse model has the relevant clinical features of ovarian cancer, which makes it a useful model for developing new ovarian cancer therapies. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献
