The aim of this study was to assess and compare the ability of discrete point analysis (DPA), functional principal component analysis (fPCA) and analysis of characterizing phases (ACP) to describe a dependent variable (jump height) using vertical ground reaction force curves captured during the propulsion phase of a countermovement jump. FPCA and ACP are continuous data analysis techniques that reduce the dimensionality of a data set by identifying phases of variation (key phases), which are used to generate subject scores that describe a subject?s behavior. A stepwise multiple regression analysis was used to measure the ability to describe jump height of each data analysis technique. Findings indicated that the order of effectiveness (high to low) across the examined techniques was: ACP (99%), fPCA (78%) and DPA (21%). DPA was outperformed by fPCA and ACP because it can inadvertently compare unrelated features, does not analyze the whole data set and cannot examine important features that occur solely as a phase. ACP outperformed fPCA because it utilizes information within the combined magnitude-time domain, and identifies and examines key phases separately without the deleterious interaction of other key phases.  相似文献

在极大螺旋藻(S.maxima)和钝顶螺旋藻(S.platensis)不同生长阶段进行硒胁迫处理,分别从接种后第1d至第5d开始添加硒,并不断增加硒含量,至第7d使硒的累计添加量为1000mg·L-1,形成5种不同硒胁迫(硒胁迫Ⅰ~Ⅴ),观察各种硒胁迫下螺旋藻的生物量及对无机硒的生物有机化的影响。结果表明:硒胁迫Ⅰ~Ⅳ对两种螺旋藻的生长影响不明显,而硒胁迫Ⅴ对螺旋藻生长有明显促进作用;藻体含硒总量和螺旋藻对无机硒的有机化率按硒胁迫Ⅰ~Ⅴ依次增加。首次提出硒胁迫强度概念,并用此较好地解释了有关实验结果。  相似文献

A two‐dimensional HPLC method based on the direct injection of biological samples has been developed and validated for the determination of lansoprazole enantiomers in human plasma. The lansoprazole enantiomers were extracted from the biological matrix using an octyl restricted access media bovine serum albumin column (C8 RAM BSA) and the enantioseparation was performed on an amylose tris(3,5‐dimethoxyphenylcarbamate) chiral column using acetonitrile:water (35:65 v/v) and UV detection at 285 nm. Analysis time was 25 min with no time spent on sample preparation. The method was applied to the analysis of the plasma samples obtained from nine Brazilian volunteers who received a 30 mg oral dose of racemic lansoprazole and was able to quantify the enantiomers of lansoprazole in the clinical samples analyzed. Summary Dry-matter accumulation, and concentration and uptake of nitrogen increased with increasing level of nitrogen at all the stages of crop growth. The differences in nitrogen concentration due to nitrogen levels were greatest at panicle initiation stage and started becoming narrower with the advancement in crop age. Split application of nitrogen with its heavier fractions at tillering and panicle initiation stages either through soil alone or soil+foliage (1/3+1/3+1/3) resulted in higher dry-matter accumulation, and higher nitrogen concentration and uptake than other methods. The crop, on an average, removed 61 kg N/ha. Plants accumulated nearly 15% of the total absorbed nitrogen, up to tillering, 50% up to panicle initiation and 85–90% up to heading. Proportionately lesser nitrogen uptake and dry-matter accumulation at post-heading stage is an indicative of a major constraint for production efficiency of rainfed-upland rice culture.  相似文献

Climate-driven biodiversity erosion is escalating at an alarming rate. The pressure imposed by climate change is exceptionally high in tropical ecosystems, where species adapted to narrow environmental ranges exhibit strong physiological constraints. Despite the observed detrimental effect of climate change on ecosystems at a global scale, our understanding of the extent to which multiple climatic drivers affect population dynamics is limited. Here, we disentangle the impact of different climatic stressors on 47 rainforest birds inhabiting the mountains of the Australian Wet Tropics using hierarchical population models. We estimate the effect of spatiotemporal changes in temperature, precipitation, heatwaves, droughts and cyclones on the population dynamics of rainforest birds between 2000 and 2016. We find a strong effect of warming and changes in rainfall patterns across the elevational-segregated bird communities, with lowland populations benefiting from increasing temperature and precipitation, while upland species show an inverse strong negative response to the same drivers. Additionally, we find a negative effect of heatwaves on lowland populations, a pattern associated with the observed distribution of these extreme events across elevations. In contrast, cyclones and droughts have a marginal effect on spatiotemporal changes in rainforest bird communities, suggesting a species-specific response unrelated to the elevational gradient. This study demonstrated the importance of unravelling the drivers of climate change impacts on population changes, providing significant insight into the mechanisms accelerating climate-induced biodiversity degradation.  相似文献

In this paper we study the nonlinear age-structured model of a polycyclic two-phase population dynamics including delayed effect of population density growth on the mortality. Both phases are modelled as a system of initial boundary values problem for semi-linear transport equation with delay and initial problem for nonlinear delay ODE. The obtained system is studied both theoretically and numerically. Three different regimes of population dynamics for asymptotically stable states of autonomous systems are obtained in numerical experiments for the different initial values of population density. The quasi-periodical travelling wave solutions are studied numerically for the autonomous system with the different values of time delays and for the system with oscillating death rate and birth modulus. In both cases it is observed three types of travelling wave solutions: harmonic oscillations, pulse sequence and single pulse.  相似文献

Abstract. The growth rate of Eucalyptus regnans seedlings in their first year can be much increased if the soil is first dried and then rewetted. The ratio of growth on predried soil to growth on undried soil (the Growth Ratio or GR) reaches a maximum at air-dryness (pF 6.0–6.4). In E. regnans forest soil, GR is greatest in humus-rich topsoil and declines with depth. The effect of air-drying persists for several months after rewetting when soil is stored under glasshouse conditions. It is largely unaffected by repeated drying and wetting, by the rate of drying or by the season of collection. The mixing of dried and undried soil or the placement of a layer of dried soil above undried soil produces an enhancement of growth proportional to the amount of dried soil added. Firing of a litter layer above soil at wilting point increases subsequent seedling growth to that in air-dried soil. The addition of ash from a litter fire to undried soil produces an increase in growth approximately equal to that caused by air-drying The drying effect is most pronounced in soils from mature E. regnans forest and nearby brackenland and is less in dense younger forest, frost-hollow grasslands and old grassy gaps in the mature forest. The effect is restored by the inoculation of E. regnans mycorrhizal roots from both dried and undried soil. The effect varies along an gradient from 500 to 1500 m a.s.l. and is a maximum in the wet E. regnans climatic zone and a minimum in zones or local aspects where forests are normally subject to frequent drying. The stimulatory effect on seedling growth in soils of the E. regnans zone may have an effect on the outcome of competition during regeneration in large gaps. Part of the growth responses previously ascribed to the ‘ash-bed’ effect may be due to the desiccation effect in these soils.  相似文献

Floral sexual phases can differ in nectar production and might be under selective pressure by pollinators. We studied Euphorbia tithymaloides, which has inflorescences that are initially female and then hermaphroditic. Volume and concentration of nectar were measured in both stages. Nectar production and the effect of extractions were determined using sets of bagged inflorescences; inflorescences in the hermaphroditic phase had higher values of nectar concentration, volume and sugar mass than inflorescences in the female phase. Nectar resorption was detected in senescent inflorescences. To test for homeostatic nectar regulation, artificial nectar was added and the response assessed after 24 h. The experiments showed that concentration and sugar mass are regulated within a narrow range, and the homeostatic points differ between the two sexual phases. These differences in nectar can be detected by hummingbirds, which prefer the female stage. Resorption and secretion seem to be part of a homeostatic mechanism by which nectar attributes are maintained to optimise sugar recovery.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the extent to which fully developed leaves of Hedera helix L. are capable of acclimating to new light conditions and how this ability is determined by the life phase of the plant. To this end juvenile and adult plants were transferred from a low (L) to a moderately high (H) light regime and vice versa and changes of photosynthetic gas exchange, RuBP carboxylase (EC 4.1.1.39) activity and specific anatomy were monitored in leaves that were fully developed prior to the transfer.
Immediately after transfer from L to H there was a decrease in the rate of net photosynthesis (Fn). This photoinhibition was particularly pronounced in leaves of the adult life phase. Fn recovered after 10 to 20 days at H, and 40 to 65 days after transfer the rate exceeded that of control plants by about 20% in leaves of the adult life phase and by about 50% in leaves of the juvenile life phase. If H plants were transferred to L, Fn had declined only slightly after 30 to 40 days and regained its initial level within a few days, when the plants were returned to the original high light regime.
The increased rates of Fn per unit leaf area in leaves transferred from L to H were associated with higher light levels necessary to saturate Fn, higher carboxylation efficiencies, higher contents of soluble protein and higher activities of RuBP carboxylase, whereas the quantum yield did not change. Although fully differentiated before transfer, the leaves had formed a further cell layer in the palisade parenchyma. Related to leaf volume there was no increase in Fn.
Our results indicate that in the adult life phase of ivy phenotypie light acclimation occurs mainly during leaf development, whereas in juvenile plants fully expanded leaves still possess a rather wide modulativc acclimation plasticity.  相似文献
